I have spent endless hours locating a source for these knobs. This auction is for 2(two) AGED/BURNISHED) base knobs. Knob width at the TOP DIAMETER is 1 3/16" TOTAL KNOB HEIGHT is 7/8" BASE WIDTH IS 1/2" These are the correct size and profile for the drawer bases for Globe Wernicke® and Macey stack units(although they work great for Gunn, Lundstrum, Weis, Danner and others as well) There were at least 8 different styles of knobs. This style was the most prominent and the best made of the 4 cast versions. It is made of polished brass and then aged to match your original knobs. The aging and burnish process takes a 5 step process and can be hazardous to perform. The aging/burnishing is done at essentially cost. See our ad for Aging Solution. If you want the knobs polished it is an additional please see the other ad. This is in original condition and has not been refinished. This is a three tall tier bookcase that rotates 360 degrees on a case iron pivot pole that goes up through the center. Amazing beautiful oak with brass detail rounds to hide the nailing points. Each level is 11 3/4" tall x 9" wide. Each level has four sections. It is amazingly complete missing only five of the round details. I think these could easily be reproduced in resin. At the base is a sturdy set of legs with wood wheels. old book case in need of completion and restoration. I was always going to put lead light glass in the doors but never got around to it, it would look equally as good with just straight glass in the doors, it is silky oak and is probably from around the 1920's, the shelves are old pine. It is missing the locks and handles but those can be both easily and for a low cost obtained from antique shops. It is also missing a small piece of moulding that went across the top just above the doors but again that is easily obtained in a variety of shapes. THE BOOK INSIDE IT ARE NOT INCLUDED. it measures 1905 mm high. 1375 mm wide and 440mm deep, it has three main shelves and one half deep shelf in the top. All full length. I was also going to square the top of the middle door to match the side doors but again never got around to it. Dates from the c1950s. Oak carved open book mounted onto the metal base. Mounted emblem of a shield onto the oak wooden book. Four colours with the embossed Guinness logos of the toucans. Seal and other. Underneath the ribbon with: Guinness is good for you. Overall height is about 6.75inches. Max overall dia across the top is about 5.25inches. Condition. A footed Mission Oak/Arts and Crafts Movement table/desk top book shelf. This has not been refinished. Also as a plus. There are original colorful cigar box tops in the bottom on the drawers. Original wooden knobs and feet. It stands 9 1/2" tall, 24" wide and the shelf is 7" wide. This item has scratches. Some wood loss. You will see that the letter holder on the left side is gone. This is a magnificent large mid 19th century oak carved book shelf with a fine gothic window carved to each end. C.1845. Excellent attention to detail on this book shelf with a part'book' divider. The shelf does not extend but a carved'closed book' does slide to an area of half of the shelf. This is a really fine and an unusual oak book shelf with gothic carved ends. DESCRIPTION: LOWER STARTING PRICE! This is a NO RESERVE sale for a really nice oak. Wall-mounted, book shelf. This is the kind of shelf you might see in a library, holding open a book such as a dictionary, phone book or even a bible. When it is mounted on the wall, the shelf tilts downward about 30 degrees. The shelf measures approximately 30 inches across, 12 3/4 inches wide(or, top to bottom of the actual"shelf part" and it sticks out from the wall when mounted by approximately 12 inches. The wooden bracket portion of the shelf(the part that actually touches the wall) measures approximately 7 1/2 inches. In the middle of the top of the shelf, there is a metal bracket which holds the book in place. I believe that this is tarnished brass. I has a nice patina to it, so I didn't touch it. I think that the bracket had a metal rod ... moreof some sort at one time that ran across the top of the book, to hold it open to a certain page. If that's what was there, it is no longer. I think you could easily construct one from a small metal rod or perhaps even a metal coat hanger. You could even run some decorative wire or ribbon. I have placed a smaller phonebook on the shelf in one photo to give an idea of what it would look like(phone book NOT included in sale.although. If you REALLY want it, I suppose you could have it! The bracket portion has two screw holes on each side through which you can mount it to the wall. It also has a small metal"L" bracket in the middle that would allow an additional screw at that location. This shelf is solid oak and is very strong. So if you used heavy duty screws, it could hold a pretty heavy book. I was going to mount the shelf in my library and place a large dictionary on it, but I ended up getting a floor stand instead. I had a hard time finding another example of this type of shelf, so I think this is a good opportunity to get an unusual and rather difficult to find item. ANTIQUE OAK WOOD BOOK SHELF BOOK END SECRET COMPARTMENT HOLLOW FOR REPAIRS
Up for auction is an intriguing antique find from the early 1900s: used as a book end in an early 20th century farmhouse built-in bookcase. This 10 1/2" tall red oak piece was found to be hollow, and have two compartments where at least one had a drawer at one time(see the top compartment groove in the photo) The drawer(s) are gone, but this is still a splendid way to hide things in plain sight! The top and bottom appear to have been dressed with a deep burnt gold cloth or towel-probably intended to protect the bookcase wood shelves. The panels are straight-sawn. And I believe the wood is red oak(my second guess is walnut) There are two decorative carved wood bead strips on either end, and there is an identical raised floral and leaf pattern on either side. These raised patterns are cracked with age, and there are two pieces missing ... morefrom one side pattern(see photo) Yet the elegance and warmth of this gorgeous piece are strong. Dimensions are 10.5" high. 7.5" long on the decal sides, and 4" wide from braid to braid. Because red oak is so soft and was used extensively in interior furniture making during this historical period, there are dings and grooves and chips missing. Even so, it's a beautiful piece. As found at estate sale from garage. Dust and all. 23" tall desk top, back of seat is 26 1/2" tall. Desk top is 22" x 15. 26" overall length. Desk tilts and entire top goes up and down to adjust as child grows, it has a 3" up and down play by loosening 2 round knobs on side. The top also slants at an angle and is adjustable. I could not find a makers name on it. Except the ink well is made by Henry Wilkes Bakelite, it has a glass well. This desk will last a lifetime and will be passed down from generation to generation. It's a great investment. Picture your children sitting in it for pictures every year to see them growing up.

Regardless, the stand is exceptional. It is"untouched" and all-original, measuring approximately 45 inches tall(at it's tallest) by 17 inches wide at the base. The oak lectern is adjustable with many angles/widths to choose from. The originality of this stand is what makes it so great: it retains its original tiny steel casters, black enamel paint, and varnish on the oak boards. This is a beautiful gift-quality wood piece. It is marked on the bottom: Handcrafted by Mr Q. Spokane, WA. As you can see in the photo. It is a storage or display unit with a horse or pony head and tail. This item is made out of real solid oak wood, no veneer or fake stuff. It is solid and heavy and in excellent condition with light wear. The very bottom that sits on the floor has some minor scratching and small edge chip. The top edge has 2 tiny indents. A great piece! I used this as a book rack for my grandson's books- worked great for that purpose. He never"played" with it. Antique Victorian DEra Hand Made Book End Door Stop Oak Cat Kitten Needlepoint Yeh! My favorite flea market opened for the season. And I am still listing items from my antique store trip as well as the farm auction sale- there’s loooots of new items this week, and something for everyone! Oh. This is soooo one of my favorites this week. What I have is a hand made piece that dates back to the late 1800s. It's either a book end, a doorstop or just a wonderful old decorative piece- made of a triangle of solid oak wood, the front has been adorned with a sweet hand needlepointed piece depicting a cat or kitten. The cat is done in shades of browns and tans with black accents, and it has been surrrounded by a wonderful light mossy green color. The piece is then bordered with a silky rope that I'm guessing was gold or maybe off white or tan? ... moreYou can see that it has darkened with age quite a bit. Speaking of age, I'm showing you in photo 10 that the needlepoint piece has a combination of original, dark rusty headed nails combined with later added tin tacks that have a worn brass finish, and I can also see the silver shiny heads of two more contemporary nails- one on the top front right almost hidden by the border(see photo 6) and one on the lower right side behind the back of the border. I'm assuming the tacks and later nails were added to strenghen this old piece, and they did the job well- it's in excellent solid and sturdy condition structually with loooooooots of rustic wear from age. As I noted above, the needlepoint and rope show their age in wear, some fading, and overall soil and dust(seen in the darkening of the piece) The border moves in some spots if you force it- so it could be tacked down a little more, but I really don't think it's necessary, as it stays put where it is unless you force it. There rop on the right top hangs down- see photo 6, but I'm wondering if that's not original? I'm not sure, because the left hand side one does not do it- then again, it could have a
