Antique Edwardian Large Folding Oak Book Slide in a Gothic Manner.
The slide comes in the classic folding form to each'end' and features a carved almost gothic form to each. It looks like it has been hand made from Oak but it may be Mahognany. It is in good condition and structurally very sturdy. The ends are very strong and can hold a full slide of books with no problem, the wood is thick and the hinges are strong. There is wear present. Namely to the edges of the hand finished points to the ends and other areas. Please inspect pictures for these scuffs and nibbles. There are no cracks, chips or damages to any of the wood. The length of the slode when extended is 69.7cm and when closed is 44.3cm. The height of the ends is 21.3cm with a width of 18.3cm. The books are not included in the sale. I brought the book shelf from a lovely little antique shop in the Lake District when I was on my Honeymoon. However I never got round to putting it up and I don't really have the room for it. Fantastic c 1900 oak leaded glass bookcases. These are meant to fit in a corner. They come with 8 shelves and 16 wooden shelf supports. These are gorgeous and priced to sell. Pickup only in Lancaster ohio. As long as you pay promptly we are flexible on when you pickup. Two pane in the leaded glass are broken on one door. A trim piece from one end is missing on the other bookcase and one shelf notch is long gone but otherwise these are fantastic. they do have a moth ball smell as they were stored for many years. Size of larger is 48 7/8" wide, 16.75" deep and 53.5" high. The other is the same height and depth but is only 39" wide. You get both as they are a set.

Vintage Oak Extending Book Trough Shelf - Early 20th Century Book Rest
The'trough' is fully extendible and is in oak. Dated from the earl 20th century. It is in good condition and is very strong. It gets a little stiff when fully extended as its a night tight fit, it should withstand a nice stack of books. The varnish is a little flaked in places and there are minor signs of wear in the form of scuffs and light nibbles but overall it is in good condition with a rich colour. The length of the trough when closed is 31.3cm and when fully extended is 50.2cm. It has a height of 13.2cm and a width of 20.1cm. I have more rare pieces in my other item's which you will find here. But you can get a replacement from Gerstner and Sons for $15.00. Front bottom right corner. Where the pin for the front door goes, wood is cracked as pictured. Door however door is still operational. You are bidding on 9 feet of solid oak double faced book shelves. They are modular in construction and are disassembled. The date of manufacture is 1937. They show the signs of daily use for 77 years in a library environment. Structurally they are as sound as the day they were installed in 1937. They were declared excess during a major remodeling. They could definitely benefit from refurbishing. Unless you prefer"patina" including 50 year old chewing gum stuck to the underside of some of the shelves, see pictures 9 and 10. They are 48 inches high and the shelf heights are pin adjustable, see picture 8. These are really heavy, bring help when you pick them up.
