It is made of quartered oak with an antique oak finish and brass hardware. ... moreThe gold"Globe" stenciling still remains on the top of the unit. The dimentions are 18' deep. 17.5 wide and 31.5' tall. It is fully functional and the file cabinet unit and the card catalog drawers work as intended with the original hardware remaining. Condition: Good original condition with the usual age related scratches and blemishes to the finish. There is dark staining and a little rippling to the veneer on the top. Most of the finish is definately originial. But I'm really not sure if the sides of the file cabinet unit have been refinished at some point. They have the same type of wear as the rest of the unit, but are noticibly lighter than the patina on the rest of the pieces. The brass side bands have oxidation on parts of them. Shipping: Good news.I have all the packing materials and therefore will not charge a wrapping fee. Bad news.this is a heavy piece. About 60 lbs all packaged up so will be expensive to ship. Barrister's Bookcase - Oak Finish - Exc Cond -Glass Pulldown Doors w/One Leaded
This is a used Barrister style bookcase in excellent condition. It is oak finish with glass pull down doors. The top door is leaded/ beveled glass. I used it to store movies instead of books. There are four shelves about 12" deep. I had VHS tapes and DVD's stacked two rows deep. From memory it is about 5' tall and over 3' wide. I can measure next time I am at the storage unit. The first two pictures are in my previous house and the third is in the climate controlled storage unit. The color in the last picture is a little off due to fluorescent lighting in the storage unit. Quartered quarter sawn oak barrister bookcase with desk--raised panels---14710
This is a really interesting quarter sawn barrister bookcase. I sell lawyer's bookcase(sometimes called a stacker) but have not had this model before. Three sections tall with raised paneled fronts on each section door. The top section is a drop front desk with a nice fitted interior. The overall size of the piece is 34 wide. 47 high, 12 deep. Oak Stacking Barrister Bookcase by Mayer & Thaheimer 75" Tall Wavy Glass Nice
This is a vintage Mayer& Thalheimer of Baltimore Stacking Barristers Bookcase. It measures 75 3/8" Tall-34" Wide-9 1/2" Deep. It will accommodate a 10 1/2" tall book. Four of the Five sections have the original wavy glass. The center ones glass has been replaced at some point. The bottom section has a different Mayer& Thalheimer tag than the top sections and has a different coloration on the back as you can see so it may be a marriage though it fits perfectly. Condition is very good. I've enjoyed it for many years but am moving to a smaller home and don't have a place for it. I'm not offering shipping but can be accommodating on working out delivery.

As I believe they had a brand called Library Bureau. Its hardware& moldings look similar to some of the Globe styles. In any case. It's a nice bookcase in good shape, with very clean lines, nice golden-oak color and appears to be constructed of mainly quarter-sawn oak with little if any veneer on the main exposed parts(excepting the back of course, and possibly the bottoms inside which look like a clear maple) The finish appears intact, with its age-related character. We've given this a cleaning, you may want to go further with perhaps some steel wool, decades of office-life generally leave these old barristers with their typical use-related'Character' ... moreplease see the photos) which to my eye is all part of the antique. We used this piece for holding antiquarian natural history books and art-books. For which it works excellently. But old Barrister Bookcases are great for displaying many sorts of things, keeping them dust-free& safe. Everything seems to work properly, glass fronts all slide up& back properly, brass knobs are all there etc. This Barrister is a nice sort of mission design in its plain square lines. With slightly rounded moldings which add a touch of'friendliness' to its design. As a modular piece. This is an especially nice quartered quarter sawn oak barrister bookcase. Many of these barristers were made by Globe Wernicke or Macey-I do not know who manufactured this bookcase. Piece is quite unusual with leaded and beveled glass doors in each section. In addition. The top is a pretty carved design rather than the more common plain design normally seen. Antique Globe Wernicke 6-Stack 299 Grade Oak Stacking Lawyers Barrister Bookcase
Up for bid is a wonderful 6-stack Globe Wernicke lawyers or barristers bookcase made of quartersawn oak. All sections are the very desirable Grade 299(quarter sawn/tiger oak with the medium finish) Has the very desirable ogee(curved) top and bottom. All sections are size D-10 1/4. Bookcase is ALL ORIGINAL. Original finish. Original wavy glass, original knobs on the doors. Bookcase is ALL COMPLETE. All labels are present and intact. All glass is present(no cracks or breaks) All felt along the tops of the doors is complete and intact. All scissors mechanisms are present. All acid-etched side bands are correct and present. I rescued over 20 sections from a storage room of an old Chicago school library, and these 6 sections were in the best condition. Condition of the sections is way above average for their age. After 100 years the finish on ... morethese cases has usually"alligatored" Not here. Although there are the usual scratches and chips in the finish, which is to be expected(there is a rub of white paint on the right side of one section shown in the photos) the outside finish is overall extremely smooth with a nice gloss. The very top has the most wear and scratches as the librarians slid and stacked items on top of the cases. There is also the reside from 2 old pieces of cellophane tape on the front of the top. I can find no delamination of the back panels, nor any bubbling of the veneer on the very top. Being in a library for so many years has preserved them nicely. Overall size of the bookcase is 84" tall x 34" wide x 12" deep. If you need more photos. Or have additional questions, please email me. Made in Cincinnati, Pattern 711, Grade 122 1/2" I believe this was made around 1937. Four units with base and top Oak wood has been refinish with a different stain. Oak Barrister Bookcase Book Case Glass Panels Doors Shelves
A beautiful three-shelf solid oak(and oak veneers) barrister's bookcase purchased new in 1997 from a reputable South Bend. Indiana furniture retailer. This piece is in gently used condition. As you can see from a couple of the photos, there is a rectangle of dark space on the top of the piece caused by a lamp resting on the top and sun fading the surrounding area. One of the photos shows a wood stain behind a knob on the center shelf door. This occurred in the manufacturing and is under the polyurethane. There is some minor scuffing along the baseboard of the piece. Glass is very clean and free from scratches. When closed, the doors do a very good job of protecting contents from dust.
