This wonderful item features all individual panes of bubble glass. Carved broken arch pediment, 4 doors on the top, 2 doors on the bottom, 5 dovetailed drawers, drop front leather top writing surface, brass hardware, beautiful wood grain, and ample shelving. Each of the drawers has a working lock and the key is included. There are 3 glass shelves on the upper center and 6 wood shelves in the upper left and right unit. Each of lower doors conceals one wood shelf. The upper unit is lighted but the current cord should be replaced. This item is in wonderful antique condition with only minor signs of age appropriate wear as pictured. The original antique bubble glass is free from breaks or damage which is very hard to come by. The backing to the upper unit looks to be lined in a off white colored wall paper and there is a red drip stain to this surface as seen in image#18 on the lower left side. Wear to the finish on one of the shelves can also be seen in image#18. Breakfront measures 92"h x 72"w x 16"d in total. The upper unit measures 56"h x 70"w x 12"d. The lower unit measures 36"h x 72"w x 12"d. I have added many pictures so you can get the best idea of its beauty and condition and supersize all pictures for some great closeup shots. The piece comes in two parts. The four door- four drawer base, and the glass fronted top. It's the perfect mix of aesthetic beauty and practical usefulness and will add a touch of style and elegance to any interiors scheme. The piece has the characteristic Sheraton style inlay to the front with the urns and garlands gracing the front of each door. There is also a thin strip bordering the doors. Drawers and glass fronted doors. If you imagine how this inlay is created you can see how much skilled craftmanship and man hours goes into the making of this fine piece of furniture. Each piece of marquetry inlay design has to be cut out of the softer fruitwood and then embedded into the harder mahogany of the main structure. There is a lot of storage space. The doors on the bottom open out to reveal the large inner space. This door is lockable and comes with a key. The drawers at the top open out cleanly. Then of course there is the fantastic glass fronted top half again with keys. When this opens out you can see the shelves are adjustable so you can store various items. The gothic revival begins in earnest in 1837 with the publication in London of Pugin's Contrasts. But this gothic revival bookcase with glazed doors must date towards the 4th quarter of the 19th century. It seems well constructed and an attractive piece of furniture that would prove useful and harmonic in almost any home decor. This bookcase has wear commensurate with its age. The outside finish is a bit dull, but a good polish would make it look fabulous. The shelves are all adjustable. The center door is missing the lock, the two side doors have locks and a key but I cannot get them to work. MEASUREMENTS: 72 long. This hall table was probably once used as a washstand. But today would function perfectly in a foyer, entryway, hallway, or stairwell. The mahogany has a particularly nice patina to it that can only come with age. The piece features a hidden drawer in the middle for a little bit of storage room. The nicely carved front leg gives the table ... moresome pizazz while the clean lines of the piece don't over do it. The drawer is dovetailed, a sign of high quality craftsmanship. There are a few age splits and old repairs in the apron shown in the photos. These are purely cosmetic phenomenon and do not affect the structural integrity of the piece. The top also shows wear marks consistent with age and has a faded ring to the right side. Overall the table is quite sturdy and would make a wonderful addition to any home. The top is a beautiful patinated mahogany. It is in good condition. You can see the slight ring to the right side. The top does show signs of wear consistent with age in the form of tiny dings all over the surface some of which can be seen here. The wonderfully carved leg is supportive and good looking. The hidden drawer pulls out to reveal some storage space. The drawer is dovetailed. A sign of high quality craftsmanship. Both sides have similar slight age separations and repairs on the apron. And small dings around the edges on the top and back on the butt of the body, see them in the 9th, 10th, and 11th photos below, also some spots where the top layer of the finish has peeled off it looks like, still has finish, no exposed wood. Being offered for sale is this beautiful Antique Tall Chest with Mirror and carved Paw Feet with working Key circa 1910. This tall attractive chest offers a tremendous amount of storage possibilities with classic style and elegance. This chest features floral and shell carvings. Original mirror and hardware and a working locks with the key, with the original casters intact on all four feet. This chest measures a total height from the floor to the top of the mirror of 69 1/2 inches. Height from the floor to the top of the chest measures 48 inches, chest measures 38 inches wide and 22 inches deep and weighs approximately 145 lbs. The original beveled mirror measures 27 1/2 inches wide by 17 1/2 inches in height. The original beveled mirror is in fine antique condition with only some slight cloudiness and pivots from to back to adjust viewing ... moreangle. The mirror has a carved shell crest at the top and features elegant floral carved scroll mirror supports. The chest below has 3 smaller drawers over 4 larger ones each with dove-tailed ends. Original brass pulls and working locks. Additional carvings are found on the apron and this piece is raised up on four carved paw feet with casters. We also believe this finish to be old and original with deep rich patina. Vintage Antique Ukulele Ukelele, Roy Smeck Mahogany Martin clone 1930s
Vintage Roy Smeck from back in the golden day of the 30s. This is in generally good condition. Made from all solid Honduras Mahogany except for the nut, which looks like ebony. The fretboard is stained dark, with white dots for markers. It has a couple of nicks along the bottom edges, but other than that just some strum wear on the body and a bit on the frets. Bar frets. Correct vintage tuners, no cracks, warps, splits. Plays beautifully and holds tune. Very solid and strong, excellent for an 8o+ year old uke. This one you can wail on and feel ok about it. Uke is loud and the action good. This was a copy of Martin's style O. Though it is a bit narrower in the waist and the body a tad shorter. The head is almost identical, though the spacing on the tuners is wider. Also, this is an Island style uke, with the fretboard level with the face ... moreof the body, whereas Martins had an ebony fretboard overlaid on their mahogany neck. Needless to say, but I will anyway, the finish-out on the Martins is better. The finish of this uke is almost perfect condition. With the exception of the aforementioned dings. Really nice varnish, no scratches or scuffs worth mentioning. Looks like it was played a few times, then put away in a closet for 80 years. A great. Strong uke from back in the day. Please note: Insurance is offered as an option. I pack extremely well. But without insurance you will have no recourse if U.S. Postal damages it. Straightened neck, intonated adjust saddle height. only thing not repaired is two small cracks on front of body about 1/3 in on both sides of saddle going down to bottom. hard to picture but they are not weak and are not effecting sound at all. Instrument has crazy loud projection and sounds great. Even a fine inlay around the soundhole(see photo) The bridge has had a little glue put under it to stabalize it over the years. However I think these were screwed on to begin with. The tuners hace screws on the back that seem to be of the locking type so you have to loosen a little when tuning. Very fine blemish in front, may be a scratch in varnish, I do not think its a crack. Very solid. You dont usually fine these of completly made of Mahogany wood. The Japanese baritone ukes and instruments were some of the finest made. I would say this one is mid 20th century. Very straight neck. Looks like a little glue under the lower neck cap only, neck is fine. The size of the body is 10" by 7 1/4" by 3"deep. The body is even bound on the top. I am able to play up and down the neck to the body, I do not hear any fret buzz. If so it would be very little. You may want to lower the bridge or the nut to get lower action. Tapered and fluted front legs, an H cross-stretcher, and solid mahogany top that has been re-sprayed in our cabinet shop to remove the nicks and dings and to renew the gorgeous grains in the mahogany used. The top is a fluted column ending in a flame finial top, with the original brass threaded rods that hold the molded swivel frame in place, so the mirror can be adjusted up and down. The overall size is 34 inches wide, 20 inches deep, and 30 inches high. It is 54 inches high to the top of the mirror. The size of the mirror itself is 27 inches wide by 23 inches high. Antique Federal Style Flame Mahogany Dresser w/ Mirror 2 Over 4 Chest of Drawers
Antique Federal style mirrored dresser or chest of drawers dating from the early 1900's. Stunning flame mahogany veneers grace the surfaces of this piece and are decorated with intricate contrasting inlay. An inlay medallion of a lamp has been placed atop the swivelling mirror. Two smaller locking drawers are aligned over four larged drawers. Providing ample storage space. All the drawers are made with high quality dovetail construction. The entire piece is raised off of the ground by short tapered square legs sitting on brass and wood casters. Overall. This piece is in very good condition. There are some drip marks along the top edge of the mirror(from glue or wood finish, see picture) but no cracks or other damage. The wood has some wear associated with age, including chips and minor breakage to the veneers or inlay. See pictures. This antique Duncan Phyfe solid mahogany wood magazine rack measures 16' wide. 17' tall at the center cutout handle and is 12' deep. There are some markings on the bottom, but there is not a company makers name or stamp. The surface has some scratches and the finish on some edges are worn. There are a few small nicks. The center divider with the handle moves slightly when lifting the piece. Overall this piece is very solid and secure. SquareTrade © AP6.0 This sofa is a n original ca. 1840 American Empire style built from solid Santo Domingo mah ogany moldings with cherry and white pine secondary woods and exquisitely veneered surfaces of bookmatched Santo Domingo crotc h veneer with whole crot ch veneer on lyre faces of arms. The base is constructed of half round and cove pattern all the way around front and sides. Very well formed and veneered. The double cyma-curved crestrail is classic American Empire. Significant positives about this piec e from the perspec tive of an antique f urniture restorer with over 30 years experience show that this piece stands out in at least 3 ways. The original veneering shows no sign of glue failure at all. It is amazin gly intact with very little damage. The finish appears to be original. In excellent condition, and finally, it appears ... moreto have been upholstered only twice- the second time ti me with s taples. Usually on a piece like this. The wood is literally riddled by several reupholsterings with tacks and nails and often requires serious repairs to the wood before it can be upholstered again. It was entirely hand made with the highest levels of craf tsmanship- no cut corners. Hand sawn. Hand planed. In other words, pieces like this are usually worn out and are done over so many times that they're no longer usable. Not this piece. It's one of the best p reser ved p ieces I've ever had in my shop- Golden Eagle Cabinet Shop. Negatives- at 170 years of age. One will want to av oid hard use. The re upholstery could use an application of gimp along the crest rail borders- a normal finishing touch not done yet. The original coil springs have diff erent spring so unds for di fferent places one might sit. And as befit s a dowager of mature age. There is a bit of lumpiness. V isually stunning with depth and vibrant color. This piece will proudl y be the centerpiece in your h ome.
