This floor shaving stand with a tilt mirror is in the Eastlake style. The age of the piece is c. 1870-1890. It is in great found original condition. The mahogany finish is original with a good patina. The original beveled mirror tilts at various angles to accomodate one who is shaving. The dovetailed drawer has the original pulls to it. The storage compartment on the bottom is unusual in that this type stand usually does not have this feature. It also has its original hardware. The stand is sturdy and tight. I have found no repairs. A vintage Wood Desk with eight(8) Drawers. We are pleased to present this vintage Desk for your consideration. Made of solid Wood. The Desk has a Mahogany Veneer exterior with a beveled edge around the top surface. The oval shaped metal Drawer Pulls are original and coated with a dark finish. Eight(8) Drawers provide plenty of storage space, including a double height drawer on the right side at the bottom. Quality construction details are typical, including dovetail joints on the Drawers. The Desk measures 29-1/2 inches high. 45 inches wide, and 21-1/2 inches deep. We did not find any marks that identify the manufacturer. In quite good condition. The Desk has a few minor issues. The veneer has peeled in a few small spots, mostly along the back edge(see the last picture for a close up) A few of the Drawer stops are not working on the right ... moreside(which permits the Drawers to go in too far) but this is easily repaired. Typical age appropriate wear is found to the wood surfaces, with scattered bumps and minor dings, most having a dark patina from age. Overall, there are no serious problems, and we rate the overall condition as very good(see pictures) This is a very functional Desk. With plenty of varied storage space, and ready to be used as-is. Mahogany, with ebonized scroll feet, great looking octagonal column atop collar and pedestal. Nice classical/ architectural look. Brass casters. Original hardware. All original locking mechanisms. Some illegible chalk writing under top. Seam down center of top, surface wear commensurate with age, having some typical dings/ impressions/ dents to patina. Description 19th Century English Willian IV mahogany three-tier serving trolley table would a great addition to your home. This English serving trolley is constucted of solid mahogany with turned elements with bun handcarved bun form finials with reeding with three shelves each that have side rails. This English serving cart retains the original brass casters. It is visible on the bottom shelve and on the others that the planks were cut a large saw you can see the deep circular groves. Also in the pictures you can see the glue blocks that have been used as far back as the 18th century in the construction of fine furniture. This table measures 42" in length. 42" in height, 18" in depth. Condition The overall condition of this 19th Century English serving trolley is excellent used. This is an elegant federal mahogany game table circa 1880. This is an example of less is best with the simple elegant grace of the minimal but effective corner carvings. Slender but sutible pedestal, and classic carved paw feet. The table has an beautiful crotched mahogany veneer apron on three sides. The back is not veneered. The table is a good size that measures 35 3/4" wide, 17 3/8" deep, and 28 5/8" tall when closed. When open the top is 34 1/4" x 35 3/4" There is an age appropriate split in the base of the table but the base is a 2 3/4" solid piece of wood and the crack is only a surface crack. This beautiful mahogany 3 tier pedestal table stands 41 inches tall. The 3 table tiers measure 12 1/2 inches. 17 1/4 inches, 23 1/4 inches respectively. The table has been lovingly restored to its original glory. There is what looks like a glue mark on the top of the middle table top at the base of the center column. There is a small nick on the finish of one of the feet that shows in the last picture. There is also what looks like a black or darkened spot on the lower table a few inches from the edge, it measures approximately 1/2 an inch long and 1/4 inch wide. The color difference between the second picture and the rest of the pictures is from the flash being used in all but that second picture. The true color is closer to the pictures with the flash, but the flash does make it appear a bit brighter than in person. The ormolu is just exquisite with golden highlights at all points up and down on this piece. The cabinet measures 30 1/2" tall by 14 1/2" across. The marble is a malachite green with fossilized pieces in the graining. The piece is in excellent condition for its early 19th century age. But it does have some tiny losses in a few top spots at the base and the top. We mention for accuracy as nothing is really seen. up for auction is a very fine antique large karpen griffin headed claw footed mahogany arm chair. this is a great chair with a very large size for karpen. it is 38 tall. 27 wide, with an 18 inch seat and a bit over 16 inches from the floor to the top of the seat. the griffins and claw feet are extremely well done, however the pictures are lousy and don't show the detail of the griffins, but they are of horner quality. it has huge claw feet that are the best, as well as boasting a wonderful large top crest that is sea shell carved with other important particulars. this is a great chair, however i have over 100 chairs in my house and need to dispose of some of them. it has been recovered recently with a tufted back. i paid i think 900 for it a long time ago and had it recovered, so my starting price is about what i have in it. it may be ... morepicked up at my home or shipped at buyers expense. i can help arrange shipment if that would be of benefit to anyone. good luck.

antique karpen laminated mahogany parlor set 2 chair
up for auction a three piece antique karpen parlor set. the set has very nice laminated mahogany backs. The settee and arm chair have nicely carved claw feet and the back of all three pieces have sea shell carved crests. there is also nice carving where the arms attach to the backs and carving down both sides of the backs of each piece. it has had new fabric put on the seats in the last 4 or 5 years, i forget for sure when i had that done. i have cleaned the wood and polished it. the sofa is a bit over 50 inches wide, a bit over 38.5 tall at the crest, and the depth of the seats on all three pieces is right at 20 inches. the rocker is 36 tall and 23 wide, the arm chairs 38.5 tall and 23 wide. i believe the casters are original to the sofa and arm chair, of course the rocker has none. it had a karpen paper tag that came off when recovering ... morea few years back. i forget what piece it was on but it fell off when removing the old fabric. i still have the tag somewhere. i will look for it and can send a picture of the tag should anyone care to look at it. it is in overall excellent shape to be 100 years old. there are a few minor dings in the wood, but none large enough to picture, the back of the arm chair has a couple of small depression in the wood, i don't think they showed in the pictures however. they don't amount to anything. actually there are no dings or dents in the wood that can be easily seen and are just consistent with age and use. the function of the set is not compromised in any way. it is very sturdy and solid. it is a great set. it can be picked up at my home or shipped at buyers expense. i can help arrange shipment if that would be helpful for anyone. good luck.

But is now in need of repair. The glass is broken and the set screws are missing which holds the brass case in the wood frame. It must surely need adjustment by now. The item measures 5 1/2" x 7" to top of loop) The heavy weight beveled glass is broken but intact.the break radiating out from the brass adjustment knob in the center. The face is white enamel with black and red lettering. The face reads, Samuel Thaxter& Son Boston.Stormy.Rain.Change.Fair.Very Dry" The wood case looks to be a hardwood and could be mahogany(or is that color) The back of the wood case is marked, 5450" The barometer will come out of the wood ... morecase as the screws are missing.see my photo where I show it out of the wood case. The brass and glass part measures 4 5/8" diameter. The beveled glass crystal measures 3 7/8" The works of the barometer can be seen from the front side thru the glass in the center. There is some writing on the face at the bottom but I can't make it out. Samuel Thaxter was born in Hingham. Massachusetts in 1769 and died in Boston in 1842. He is first listed in the 1796 Boston Directory as a mathematical instrument maker. By 1822 he is listed a Samuel Thaxter& Son(Joseph H. Thaxter) Eventually grandson, Samuel Thaxter Cushing(1821-1882) took over the business around 1843. The last entry of the company(as Samuel Thaxter& Son) in the Boston Directory is 1916. This is a pair of inlaid solid mahogany posts that were originally used as mirror frame supports. There are bolt holes on the side of each post. They have nice carved urn shaped finials and measure 27 1/4" high with the very bottom being 2 3/4" wide x 2 1/4" deep. The base of these columns are approximately 7 1/2" Square and 24" tall- the twist portion of the columns are approximately 71" tall and there is a 9 1/2" piece on the top. Great rich patina on original Mahogany wood finish. There is ordinary surface wear over the years where people have touched the knobs there is loss of color. The bottom corner of mirror frame has some cracking of the wood that doesn't show unless you get down on the floor and look up. The mirror appears to be the original glass with deterioration from behind which is typical of old mirrors. Could be easily replaced as back panel slides out easily. Has Rosewood veneer frame with one corner chipped that you can view in close up photo. There is also some veneer that is a little loose that could be glued down better if desired. It stands on four wonderfully made vasal formed legs with original wooden caster wheels. This is a wonderfully rugged& heartly built super early 19th Century chest that has been well cared for and professionally maintained from the furniture collection a fine Connecticut estate. We attribute it to one of four New York City cabinet making shops circa 1827. The glove boxes have their working locks and keys. Each original lock is hand mortised into the drawers they came on. These are pictures of this piece as it came ... moreoff the truck. The sunshine was simply to bright to get acurrate photos. We promise to run a much better set in the next few days. We did shoot a full set but they don't look anything close to how truly nice this is. It has all its original chamfered drawer panels and frame work. It has had split pine panel professionally repaired about 25 years ago along with a new back leg block. This estate had its own handyman with a great shop. He loved and cared for a super collection of 40 pieces of New York City 1820-1830 Federal furniture over the last 40 Years. This dresser is 42" long. 21" wide(deep) 40 1/4 tall at the marble top work surface, 45 tall at the gloveboxes and 72 1/2" tall at the top of the mirrors incredible frame. The mirror has its original finely casted thumb screw pins that finely thread into inset brass channels on the mirror's frame. Gorgeous American Empire antique chest of drawers.Circa 1825-1830 This piece is quite likely attributed to the work of master cabinet maker. Thomas Day of North Carolina. It has many features consistent with his craftsmanship and style.He was regarded as one of the finest cabinetmakers in the United States. It is quite remarkable considering the state of our country at the time regarding slavery.He was African American, also known as a free man of color by historians.To be such successful entrepreneur and distinguished cabinetmaker was very rare, considering all of the societal norms at the time. Mr. Day served some of the wealthiest clients including two governors of North Carolina.Word spread quickly about his amazing craftsmanship and quality. He was an artisan as well as a cabinetmaker.There is a bronze statue of Mr. Day that stands outside ... morethe entrance to the Museum of History. Located in Raleigh, North Carolina. Wonderful crotch/flame mahogany veneered drawer fronts.The cabinetmaker was an artist as well as a craftsman to select such stunning crotch mahogany and the skill to showcase. It is second to none. The rest of the chest features solid mahogany& solid cherry woods. The secondary woods are pine. This 7 drawer chest has fantastic grains throughout.The entire chest was hand made, no doubt by an early American craftsman. A rare feature is the style of the curved drawer front of the 2 upper drawers on the lower chest(photo) It features incredible precise hand cut dovetail joinery on all 4 corners of each drawer. The drawers also feature hand planed(chamfered) drawer bottoms, with no evidence of machine tooling.The drawers have solid brass inlaid keyhole escutcheons. One drawer is missing the internal lock set, there is no key.I restored the chest from top to bottom,including the two small upper level drawers with book matched flame mahogany veneer. including some veneer restoration on the front of the chest. Being presented for sale is this fabulous 19th century French Empire Mahogany Marble top Dressing Table Vanity with gilt ormolu. The details on this piece are truly beautiful! Brass accents adorn the mirror supports with brass acorn knobs securing the oval mirror to the supports. The original white& grey marble is inserted into the vanity top. A storage drawers below with a gorgeous angel type ormolu key escutcheon. The lock is present in the drawer but we do not have the key. Flanking the drawer are Roman Goddess type faces with plumage ormolu below.just splendid! This piece measures 55 inches to the top of the mirror. Height to the marble base measures 31 inches, with a width of 22 inches and a depth at the base of 15 1/2 inches and this piece weighs approximately 60 lbs. The old oval mirror measures 14 3/4 inches wide by 20 1/4 inches ... morehigh and the mirror does have some very minor spotting. The mirror does pivot front to back allowing you to adjust the angle of the mirror.
