The three adjustable shelves each measure 9” in depth and 41 ¼” in width. This is truly one of the most beautiful Victorian Secretaries of its kind that we have had the privilege to offer. This is a fine empire secretary circa 1840. The front is flamed mahogany that is stunning. The piece has been professionally refinished and is exquisite. The overall heighth is 96 1/2" with the casters which makes it slightly over 8' tall. By removing the casters the height drops to 94 1/4" The piece is in two parts. The top bookcase section is 48 3/4" tall x 46" wide and 13" deep. There are two glass doors that measure 43 1/2" x 23" The top holds three shelves. The lower section stands 47 3/4" high with the casters and 45 3/4" without the casters. The base is 21" deep. There are three small drawers at the top of the lower section followed by the hidden writting space. The writing area is 16 1/2" deep. offered for sale is a fabulous r j horner true mahogany partner's desk. it is the largest model i believe. the top is 56 inches wide. 34 inches deep, and 32 inches tall. the knee hole is a bit over 24 inches tall. on each side there are two drawers on the right and a middle drawer over the knee hole. on the left is a door on each side that opens with folder dividers placed within. one side is a mirror image of the other, there are no fake doors, drawers, etc. on this piece. it is a very clean and neat piece and in near mint condition. there are few bumps and bruises here and there, but none that are noteworthy nor do they take away from the structure, function, and beauty of the desk. the mahogany in the piece is very good and is flame mahogany with wonderful grain throughout. i hope the pictures are good enough to display the beauty ... moreof this desk. of course the desk is not for everyone, just for those who want the best. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at the buyer's expense. i can help arrange transportation if that would be beneficial to anyone. good luck. by the way, these are quite rare and hard to come by. the last one i saw sell brought 16K at an auction with a 15 per cent buyers premium, which put it up to 18,400 when the smoke cleared.

1948-58'? WLF (LUDWIG) MAHOGANY SNARE 14 X 5.5 6 LUG NICE COND. ALL ORIGINAL!!!
Here we have a RARE WFL(William F. Ludwig) LUDWIG Mahogany Snare Drum that is pretty much original. Except for the snare, and heads, everything else original. Nickel bow tie lugs(6) and hoops, strainer and butt plug nickel. The drum either dates from 1958 or 1948(it has a 1948 type Chcago badge, no serial number. The drum is in nice shape for it's age, no extra holes, no muffler(never had one) it has a P etched into it(see photo) and nsome small scrapes and marks, but not bad considering it's age. The Nickel is pretty much flawless, beautiful wood. For a dark sounding wood like Mahogany, it has a real snap to it when the snare is engaged. This drum is in collectable condition. Vintage 1790-1810 Mahogany Secretaire Insert Repurposed Cubby Hole Dovetail Draw
I have a Late 1700s to early 1800s insert. From a European Secretaire Desk. The drop lid on the front was damaged. So I decided to repurpose it and offer it here on Ebay. I cut the desk and side portions to a reas onable working depth. I left the front edge unfinished. As some people have their own desires to that respect. The top, sides and back are Mahog any. The bottom appears to be pine with a Mahogany veneer. The sides and top are attached with robust. Period hand cut dovetails, with period flat head screws. It has nine drawers. Eight of them are 10 inches wide. By 9 1/8 inch deep. They are 2 1/8 thick. All these measurements vary every so slightly. As each is hand made for each slot it fits into. Drawers are numb ered on the back to keep in order. The one big drawer is 20 and 7/8 of an inch wide. By 9 1/ 8 inch deep. All drawers are ... morebuilt using small. Delicate. Hand cut dovetails that are correct for this pe riod. The bottom s are a planed board to fit. No plywood or particle boa rd anywhere. As with most fine desks coming from Europe during this period. There is a hidden compartment. The bott om right drawer has dividers and a pencil tray. If you push the pencil tray down on the left side. The right side comes up and you can remove it. You can then a ccess a small recessed compartment. Suitable for storing items away from prying eyes. The d esk is in good cond ition. With scratches and marks conducive with its age. Please use the zoom feature to see details in the pictures. It's signed on the bottom in chalk. But some is worn away and I can't really make out what it says. What I can see is"Yellow, B or R" with other letters following and what looks like"Street. As with this type of furniture. Some sticking of the fitted drawers is to be expected from time to time. A sparse bit of wax or soap, rubbed on the sticking parts. Is usually sufficient to get things operating normally. Crafted of solid golden mahogany, the top a single thick plank edged by carved molding over two levels of bookshelves. These are set at two distinct heights(10" top, 12" bottom) that allow it to comfortably hold most average size books. The sides are crafted of four shaped mahogany slats, each secured to the case with rounded screws, achieving the breezy and transparent overall aura associated with most fine pieces of the Edwardian period. The entire case spins with remarkable ease on thick dowel system inside of the case, presumably utilizing some kind of bearing inside for to account for the smoothness ... moreof the rotation(we have not taken it apart to see exactly what the mechanism is inside, but it is very strong and very smooth) This rests over four splayed feet locked together with a forged iron cross, resting over original caster wheels. This is the perfect decorator piece for any library or study. But with it's airy proportions still being very desirable in the living room beside a large couch. It is a gorgeous piece that was built to last generations, something that you will certainly enjoy in your home for a lifetime. The mahogany veneer on the top required replacement. I customized the top with the wonderful diamond inlay that features multiple woods.The curvaceous Queen Anne Cabriole legs with pad feet are superb.The graceful curves on the side, front and back make for a great look.This piece is restored and finished on all 4 sides. The small drawer with its mahogany period knob adds tons of character.The drawer slides like silk.The drawer sides and back are maple. I hand finished this entire piece with many. The desk retains the original photograph from when it was retailed by Jacques Bodart, Inc. during the first quarter of the 20th Century, noting this as#1681. It is a gorgeous piece, the original gilt highlighted tooled green leather preserved in remarkable condition, framed in well patinated molded mahogany over five drawers. The desk rests over four tapered and stop-fluted legs with square brass caps over each leg and terminating in plain brass capped feet. Jacques Bodart.
