$375.00 Shipping Condition: Used Location: Scranton, United States This 2 section barrister bookcase has been refinished on the outside maybe 20 years ago and painted on the inside and on the back in a blue/grey sort ... moreof color. Probably done at the same time as the finish. The spots that might have revealed the maker name have paint on them so I am selling it as maker unknown. In addition to the 2 sections, it comes with the original top or crown, and a base with drawer. It also features metal side straps between each section and the scissor mechanism for the doors. No problems with the 2 glass doors. In fact, I see no problems at all. With the square straight legs it is very mission looking and being from about 100 years ago, I think we can safely call it authentic mission furniture in every way except the finish, although a lot of mission furniture WAS this color when it was new. The joints are all tight and all sections lock together easily and correctly. While only a 2 stack, it is a big 2 stack with each section able to take books as much as 13 1/2 inches tall. The over all measurement are 34 inches wide as most of these are, and with base and crown a total of 45 inches tall. It is a full 14 inches deep from knobs to back. I am listing this as local pick up only. BUT there are shipping/delivery options for you to chose from. RI delivery is $50 MA or CT. $100 If you are beyond those states. I would still deliver to most of the rest of New England, all of NJ, parts of PA that are East of Harrisburg and parts of NY that are East of Binghamton for $200. Antique 3 Section Stacking Lawyer's Barrister Bookcase
Lawyer's or Barrister's stacking sectional glass-front bookcase from the early part of the 1900's. Dark wood exterior. That I believe was refinished about 20 years ago. The interiors are natural(light) wood. The wood and finish are in very nice condition. All of the glass doors operate correctly, and serve to keep valuable books clean and dust-free. There are no water rings or other marks in the wood. Bookcase is comprised of 5 pieces; a base unit that stands approximately 9 inches from the floor. One tall bookcase section that is 14.25 inches tall, and two regular bookcase sections that are 10.50 inches tall. The fifth piece is a decorative top cap that finishes off the unit. The bookcase was made in the U.S. by F.E. Hale Manufacturing in Herkimer New York, sometime after 1907. Hale Manufacturing is still in business today making ... morebookcases, in Frankfort NY. The bookcase sections still retain the original manufacturer's label. Industrial Look Lawyer Bookcases Steel with woodgrain One is from Marshall Fields& Company Chicago The other is from The General Fireproofing Co Youngstown. Ohio USA One is 83.5"s tall 10 3/4" deep 14" each stack The other is 81"s tall 13" deep stacks are between 16" 14"s Glass front doors that slide up and inside. Feet are about 4" up off the ground. A true antique. Authentic and original condition Lawyer's“Elastic” Sectional/ Modular) Bookcase with the earliest company gold labels attached inside each section. And with door"equalizers" which later versions did not have. Made by Globe-Wernicke Co, Cincinnati, OH in extremely rare mahogany, which was the company's most expensive grade. Remarkable, beautiful condition for being over 100 years old. All glass is original too, except for the bottom door. Never refinished or in any other way modified. This has been in my family since it was purchased new by my great-grandparents. Specs: 1. Early gold label version. Dating it to 1899-1910. H as“equalizers” on each door. Which are folding metal spring rods to keep the doors from pulling off and to allow them to swing upward and slide into each section, getting the doors out ... moreof the way. The presence of the equalizers also shows that this is one of the first units made. 2. Four bookcase sections with doors: three are size D-8½. One is size D-10¼. The numbers are the interior height dimensions. Separate waterfall cap and base sections. 3. Marked Grade 598½. Which shows that it's mahogany in what the company called a“dead” finish(dull brush finish) medium dark stain. 4. Brass hardware. 5. Waterfall(rolltop) ogee cap section. Located in Nashville. TN. I will assist in getting it shipped to you in any way that I can, but you will need to arrange for that. Since it's modular, it can be taken apart, including the doors. So everything could possibly be shipped separately via UPS or FedEx. Sections are relatively lightweight without the doors attached. Please ask all questions before buying.
