This lovely pair are the perfect mix of decorative beauty and practical functionality to make for a vintage design classic. They look great in any room and they are able to store lots of items. Ostensibly they are bookcases but of course you can use them to hold other items. They look particuarly good with decorative items- statues, vases etc- in them. However, for myself, being the bookish type I have a pair in my home with nothing but lovely, fading works of literature in them. The shelves are adjustable to suit meaty tomes or smaller paperbacks. The shelves work on a slat system so you can adjust them to whatever height you like for whatever you like. From\War and Peace\ to the\World\s Smallest Book of Poetry\ these bookcases are perfect. The open fronts are Sheraton style. Main body is walnut polished to a high sheen with solid shelves The inlay is made from various fruitwoods- satinwood. Rosewood, applewood- to create a beautiful affect. The fruitwoods are softer hence there use as inlay within the harder mahogany. The level of the craftmanship on these is absolutely superb, both strucurally in that they are very solid, and also with the intricacy of the inlay. The close up pictures of the inlay work hopefully illustrates the level of craftmanship with patterns of scrolling branches. Urns and flower motifs. They would be the highlight of any room and due to their solid construction will last for many generations more. The gothic revival begins in earnest in 1837 with the publication in London of Pugin's Contrasts. But this gothic revival bookcase with glazed doors must date towards the 4th quarter of the 19th century. The piece comes in two parts. The four door- four drawer base, and the glass fronted top. It's the perfect mix of aesthetic beauty and practical usefulness and will add a touch of style and elegance to any interiors scheme. The piece has the characteristic Sheraton style inlay to the front with the urns and garlands gracing the front of each door. There is also a thin strip bordering the doors. Drawers and glass fronted doors. If you imagine how this inlay is created you can see how much skilled craftmanship and man hours goes into the making of this fine piece of furniture. Each piece of marquetry inlay design has to be cut out of the softer fruitwood and then embedded into the harder mahogany of the main structure. There is a lot of storage space. The doors on the bottom open out to reveal the large inner space. This door is lockable and comes with a key. The drawers at the top open out cleanly. Then of course there is the fantastic glass fronted top half again with keys. When this opens out you can see the shelves are adjustable so you can store various items. This is a superb rose wood french three door bookcase circa 1900. The condition is very good. This comes in around 12 parts so it is easy to ship. The center has at one time had a TV fitted inside. Exists one Drawer and six Cubbies for holding envelopes, paper clips or any office type materials. Additional storage is found below the desk area consisting of an area with a ornate door measuring 20" x 14 1\2" deep. The drawer below this storage area measures 2" x 14 1\2" deep x 5" High. To the left of the desk is a tall shelf area with four adjustable shelves for storage or acting as a bookcase again having fine ornate wood carving over the glass door front. The ornate carvings on the front of the fold-down desk and upper glass door appear Victorian. Work is needed for refinishing this piece to bring it back to its original ... morebeauty. Some wooden back pieces shown in front. Need to be fixed to the back of the desk area and one more missing piece to make the back complete. Overall measurements: 63 ½” high 42 3\4" Wide 14 ½” deep The carved decorative top piece laying in front is shaped to hold a mirror which fits between the pieces and sits on the top of the desk area. Antique Oak Stacking Barrister Bookcase quarter sawed three stack restored
FurnIture Grade barrister bookcase. Has claw feet. Finished sides"not metal bands between sections" and a good amount of quarter sawed on sides and doors. This was a earlier restoration by some one else and lables were removed, so not sure of maker. But from construction would guess is either Gunn or Weis. I did replace door runners and hardware so doors open and shut well. Size is 44" tall, 34" wide, 12" deep. Doors are 13" 11" 10" tall. Buyer pick up only no shipping. Antique mission style. Arts and crafts solid wood bookcase. All the style and craftsmanship of the Mission era as it is an original from that time. Original very dark burgundy paint. There are some flaws in the paint but it would be nice stripped or repainted. Stands straight and tall. Excellent size and height at 36 inches tall by 8 1/2 wide by 18 inches long. I believe they could be off a Bookcase. One of the doors is missing rollers. One door is missing glass. And, one door is missing a finger pull. Top edge has a 1/4" groove in the center. The glass is dirty, it will need cleaned and scraped. Between the 3 doors I am sure a pair can be used. Please check out pictures they are the best description. The glass in the doors is original and in excellent condition. The latches and hinges are original and in good working condition. Note: the small missing piece of fake tenon end and the slight separation of a shelf glue joint. Also the glue blocks underneath are missing. Finish is original and has not been played around with. Fair to good condition; some veneer has peeled off. Piece was refinished once previously. Four shelves. Antique metal brackets/pegs for 2 shelves(9 pegs) Adjustable holes in bookcase. Note that this item is safe in climate controlled storage. Also note that the glass has some tape on it; the large specks in the photos are not damage. Lock hole is there. The wood used on this bookcase is oak which has developed a lovely patina over the years. The top section has Corsica glass in it which adds a unique look to the piece. Both top and bottom sections house one shelf each and there is a single drawer for storage. The entire bookcase is finely decorated with carvings ... moreof lions. Cherub heads, and floral decor. The lions heads at the top of the bookcase hold brass rings in their mouths, the lions on the bottom section do not. Both doors lock with included key. The drawer is fashioned with hand cut dovetails. Overall the bookcase is quite sturdy. There are a few minor flaws such as an age split on the right side and a repaired section of moulding at the top of the glass door. Besides minor wear consistent with age these are purely cosmetic issues and the piece is in very good shape. It does break down into top and bottom sections for easier transport. The relatively small width of this piece makes it ideal for filling smaller spaces in a variety of rooms. Plenty of storage space in this wonderful bookcase. The carving is beautifully done on this door at the bottom. The Corsica glass is unique and interesting. Here is the repaired moulding at the top of the glass. The moulded cornice is set off by carved lion heads with brass rings on either side. Carved cherub heads are also near the glass door at the top. The single drawer features hand cut dovetails. Antique Italian Renaissance Bookcase Ornate Embellish
An absolutely stunning bookcase. This is over 100 years old and in amazing condition for the age. The original owner of this piece purchased it in Italy. It stands 69" high. Has a length of 73.25" and the inside depth is 14" This is constructed from oak and the panels are thinner than American made pieces. Each of the three doors are flanked by reeded columns with ornately carved tops. The doors have a pale green glass with wrought iron grates facing them off. The grate panels are diamond shaped with small roses on the points. The top of the case has a carved pediment that matches the trim on the base of the case. The shelves are not original to the piece. These were replaced at some point in time. The space between the shelfs ranges from 10" 13" Each door has a decorative brass keyhole. There are three keys that ... morecome with this. There is damage to the bottom front left corner. There are age and use appropiate scratches in the finish but you have to be close to see them. Antique Side By Side w Lamp Shelf & Bevel Mirror Drop Front Glass Door Bookcase

A telephone number is necessary to give to the shipper. Description: This is a Country style side by side from the late 1800’s. This side by side has a drop front secretary on one side and a glass door bookcase on the other. There is a bevel mirror at the top of the secretary side. Just below it sits a lamp shelf. When an oil lamp was placed there the mirror would reflect to illuminate a larger area. The mirror appears to be the original; it has some dark spots and discolored areas. There are applied scroll moldings around the mirror and ... morethe moldings on the top of the bookcase side match. The lamp shelf has a ring stain on it as well as some marks and a little discoloration, typical of a piece this old. One of the moldings on the bookcase side is split. The finish is matte and smooth. The feet are carved paw and clay style. The shelves in the bookcase have been replaced with 5 glass shelves that are adjustable. Just below the drop front desk is a drawer and then a door with a lock. I do have the key. This door has a small piece of veneer missing just below the knob in the keyhole area. I do not know the maker or exact date this was made. It is antique and will not be perfect. Measurements are: 72 1/8 inches tall, 38 7/8 inches side to side and 12 7/8 inches front to back.
