A very nice antique. Circa 1840's, Empire flame mahogany veneers, mahogany, and mahogany stained maple, bookcase with butler's desk base. Two piece construction. The bookcase has mahogany"piecrust" bandings to the Gothic doors and the cornice. Original wavy glass panels. Interior with two adjustable maple shelves with flame mahogany fronts. Two ogee drawers are below. The butler's desk was a top drop down front with cubbyholes and single drawer. New green felt writing surface. Two long drawers below over case on mahogany bracket feet. Furniture measures 7'3" 87" tall by 3'10" 46" wide by 29" deep, the shelves 9" deep. Very good plus condition, very nicely refinished. It is 18 1/2" deep at the top and(at the feet) it is 19" deep. We purchased several wonderful and ornately carved oak pieces from this castle. All items are 19 th Century and in unbelievably nice condition for their age! This cabinet has it all~~~ a combination of highly sought after Gothic. Barley twist and Black Forest elements! Beautifully carved, barley twist posts on upper ... moreand lower cabinets, ornate fruit, foliate, oak leaves, acorns and nut accents.the photos speak for themselves! Exquisitely carved crown with detailed figural Gothic face and carved fox on crown. Highly desirable carved arched cathedral style doors with old, wavy glass. Glass is in excellent condition with no breaks, chips or cracks. Original, adjustable shelves in upper cabinet/bookcase for display. We rarely find such detail. Beautiful lower cabinet doors with carved shotgun, pheasant, fox, duck and fish in the desirable"Hunt" style. Very detailed carving with fishing nets and fish baskets! Lower cabinet has large hand-cut, dovetailed drawer with beautifully carved wood pull. Beautiful raised panel sides. This piece has the highly desirable darker oak patina. Two original keys for upper and lower cabinets are included. The key in the lower cabinet is stuck in the door. On the bright side, you don't have to worry about losing it. We have not attempted to remove it, but I'm sure it could be. There is a minor repair on the corner of the right side skirt as shown in last photo.
