This is another wonderful. OLD antique oak 4 drawer file cabinet. It was made by the GLOBE WERNICKE Co. and is also marked PATEN PEND. From the early 1900s, there ARE 4 drawers, doors all slide IN AND out smoothly. Not real heavy about 80 lbs. Measures 52 1/2 inches high, is 16 1/2 inches across and is 25 inches deep. The finish is excellent, with just slight scuffs, and scratches, as would be expected for a old cabinet. Top is in remarkably great condition. Back bottom veneer is worn some as shown, but very fixable if it is important to you. Top drawer brown rectangular card holder is a replacement. All Bakalite pulls. Antique Globe wernicke Barrister stacking unit. 34 inches wide. 11 inches deep. The section has no breals, splits or repairs. I=The section has all the door hardware and scissor mechanism ans opens with ease. The door has the original brass knob. The section also has the original antique wavy glass and bands around the base of the section. The back is in excellent condition with no rippling or warping of the wood. It fits with all globe D sizes and macey sections. Reaal nice dark quartersawn oak finish. No surprises. I would prefer local pick up but would look into shipping. Only a small handful of these ever survived. This model was owned by the Bethlehem Steel Company and used as a then start of the art portable office for various clerical employees duties when their jobs required their moving around the massive plants' building and grounds. The entire desk is in a mint model 299 original finish. Please excuse the shade on the piece in our pictures. The front French flared legs are fastened by two braces on each side. They come right off and the desk breaks down into three pieces for ease of move. Virtually the only place you can see this desk is in the old Globe Wernicke product catalogs. Vintage Globe-Wernicke Oak File Box No. 83C Junior Tray 5 1/2" x 4" x 4 1/4" in good condition. Lovely patina to the oak. Working brass hinges connecting the lid to the bottom of the box, dovetail design, some of the dovetailing does look to have been separated but still in good condition, the bottom has been repaired as it was split in two when I found the box, and the top looks have tape residue. This is a wonderful little box to hold all your treasures! I found this box in a bunch of my grandparents items and believe it to have been acquired in the 1940-50's. This ones White Oak Quarter Sawn or Tiger cut Oak. But they all look the same got them at a estate sale where I got a few Larkin pieces for myself,they are heavy 3 to 4 pounds. About~2 inches high closed 6 inches high openned.6 inches deep.16 inches long unextended(ears openned) 27 inches full extended(ears openned) to end. Up for auction is this really nice vintage library card cabinet by Globe Wernicke from Cincinnati.It is a 2 drawer unit. I don't know when it was produced. It still has a paper label on the inside of the cabinet that has the makers name and the stain number. The drawers have dovetails. The cabinet does not. There is a small strip of the veneer missing on the back panel of the cabinet at the bottom approx. 1/2' wide see photo no. 5. It also still has the catalog brass medallion on the side see photo no. 6. It has been refinished at 1 time or another. But seems to still be it's original color. Five Section Globe-Wernicke Oak Sectional Bookcase- ca. 1940's
This five piece oak sectional bookcase also has the original top and bottom pieces. It is missing three doors and needs re-finished but when that is done you will have a $1500+ piece of furniture. I'm not sure of the age. This is one of the first pieces of furniture my parents got after they were married in 1946. I'm not sure if they got it used or new. This is an unusual size Globe Wernicke Stacking bookcase. In quarter sawn oak. It stands 51 1/4" tall, and only 25 1/2" wide, base is just a bit wider. Beautiful antique oak 3" x 5" card filing box. Made by the Globe-Wernicke Manufacturing Company in the early 1900s. This is the 7310C Model. The box measures 5 5/8" wide x 10" long x 4 1/2" tall. It's constructed of 1/4" thick poplar and uses finger joints for strength. Inside measurements are 5 1/8" wide x 9 1/4" deep by 3 3/4" tall. Made for 5" x 3" index cards. Heavy duty solid brass hinges are in good working order. The circular"GW" decal on the front is clear. Clean and easy to read. Green paper Globe-Wernicke label on the inside is clean and bright. Has a built-in lid support and the adjustable stop is in good working order. Antique Globe Wernicke Oak Map Blueprint Cabinet 5 Sections x 5 Drawers - Rare!
This is a RARE find. I am simply not going to get to all the"projects" I have acquired and this deserves to be cherished and used! This is a set of 5 Globe Wernicke Map- Blueprint Oak Cabinets each with 5 drawers. Will NOT sell individually. These were acquired from a university and clearly were used in a Department of Agriculture(they have the USDA inventory stickers still attached)office prior to be used in the university setting. I date their age to be 1920s or perhaps the mid 30's. These were clearly utility pieces. I recovered paperwork from the USDA from 1930 thru the 1950's. These were made when furniture was meant to be used for many. Many years and was not meant to be a disposable item. They are solid wood with dovetailed joints. While they are structurally very sound and solid(one drawer front was broken& glue ... morerepaired) they need some serious TLC and updating of handles- I will leave that to the new owner. I was planning to more thoroughly clean, sand, stain in a darker tone for consistency& replace handles with vintage bin pulls: of course, the new owner may decide to do more or less depending on preference. They could be painted( or even used almost as is. Overall dimensions each cabinet 33" wide x 13 1/4" high x 25" deep. All 5 units are approximately 66" high. Look carefully at the pics and I can send more detailed pics. These are in need of minor repairs and restoration. Folks, Here is a very nice four drawer oak filing cabinet from the turn of the century. The decal is gone. But I'm quite sure that it's a"Globe" This beauty has been professionally refinished. The overall dimensions are 17 1/4" wide. 28" deep and 51 3/4" high. The inside dimensions of each drawer are 12"wide. 10" high and 24" deep. The medium honey oak finish is beautiful and the 100+ year old patina changes with the light of day. There a couple very minor"scars of time" that add charm and authenticity to this piece. This auction is for a rare Globe Wernicke stacking bookcase w/ secretary desk section barrister- quartersawn oak. It is 49" tall. 12" deep and 34" across. The desk part is 13.5" tall, the mid glass section is 9.5" tall, the bottom glass is 13.25" and the base with the pull out drawer is 6.75" tall. This is in nice shape. The top does has some stains and spotting, the back does as well. The secretary desk part looks complete and the working key is also included. Up for auction is this bookcase door off of a old barristers cabinet. I am not sure of the manufacture.frame seems to be in solid condition. This door also has the old wavy glass.wood has a nice patina probably oak. Door measures 32 7/8" x 11 1/8" Glass size measured in frame is 30" x 7 7/8" There also are some cutouts on the frame out of the wood not sure what they were for. Pair Antique Globe Wernicke Barrister Lawyers Quartersawn Oak Bookcases
Lovely pair of early 1900 barrister bookcases. Both are 72 inches tall. 34 inches wide and 9 1/2 inches deep. Both are grade 299 solid quartersawn oak and both have a desireable draw in the base. Both have bands and brass knobs on all sections and antique wavy glass. One top has extensive damage to it but cannot be seen because it is so tall. I took a photo of it. It could use to have the top part replaced but I left it alone. Backs are in good condition. All sections are labeled with the Globe wernicke labels. A great addition for a library or office. Paypal. Vintage Antique Globe brand Oak wood Card Holder This is very cool oak wood card holder made by a company named“Globe” their name appears on the metal card holder that slides back and forth) This holder has the notched corners where you can see how the pieces of wood are joined together; the grain of the oak is also very apparent. There was once something a word or number painted on the front of this piece. But all that’s left of that is one partial silver letter. The metal card holder slides from front to back on a metal pole that runs along the inside bottom of the box, and is movable with a lever on the back of the card holder; in the photos there is a black mark at the top of the metal card piece-I think it was made by people grabbing the cards and it seemed like it was part of the history of this piece, so I didn't clean it off. ... moreThis is a very sturdy piece that is still usable today. Antique Oak File Drawer Label Card Holders Globe Wernicke?
A set of antique file cabinet label card holders that mount on the front of each drawer. 3 of them are flush mount that measure 3 5/8 by 2 1/4 inches. The holes are 3 1/4 and 1 7/8 inches on center. These are heavy cast brass. Not rolled and have an item number impressed into the back of each which looks like"894" The other is a card label holder with a bin pull on the bottom. The top label bracket is 2 3/4 by 1 1/4 inches. The overall measurements are 2 inches by 3 7/8 inches. The holes are 3 1/2 inches on center. It is also cast brass. Unsure of the maker or the company but a nice vintage lot for your restoration project.
