Antique Late 1800s"Globe" Golden Oak Fingerjoined Desk-Top Card Filing Box, Lovely antique solid wood(not sure what type of wood- I have seen it called birch and poplar and oak- since I am not sure I cannot attribute it directly- most likely oak) filing box dating to the early 1900s. Made to complement the Globe-Wernicke Company cabinetry/office furniture. Sides and top are fingerjoined. Hinges are original and in good working order- it looks like the brads on the hinges may have been repaired(bottom ones only) as they are iron and not brass. The box measures approx 5 1/2” wide x approx 3 1/4" deep and 4 1/8” tall. It was made to hold 5” x 3” index cards. Manufactured using 3/16” thick solid quartersawn wood throughout. Globe-Wernicke Oak File Box No. 83C Junior Tray Vintage 1940-50
Vintage Globe-Wernicke Oak File Box No. 83C Junior Tray 5 1/2" x 4" x 4 1/4" in good condition. Lovely patina to the oak. Working brass hinges connecting the lid to the bottom of the box, dovetail design, some of the dovetailing does look to have been separated but still in good condition, the bottom has been repaired as it was split in two when I found the box, and the top looks have tape residue. This is a wonderful little box to hold all your treasures! I found this box in a bunch of my grandparents items and believe it to have been acquired in the 1940-50's. I have been in the antiques business over 30 years and have never had the opportunity to sell this cabinet before. When Globe Wernicke and Macey began realizing how popular their barrister(lawyer's) bookcases were. They sought other ways to increase sales. This cabinet, sold by Globe(I believe because of their'scissors' style door closure) was marketed as a china cabinet or curio cabinet. Super piece completely original with heavy leaded and beveled glass doors. Fancy brass pulls with three bombay drawers for silver(I have the original key) Bottom drawer for storage. Bullnose top with top section having a mirrored back for display. A very rare quarter sawn oak cabinet-circa 1895. Overall size of the cabinet is 17 deep, 34 wide, and 61 high. This was part of Globe-Wernicke when they took over Weis bookcase company in 1964 then closed it in 1969-70 you got them for Larkin Soap Remittances coupons or Green Stamp books after 1950 when S&H got last lot from Weis. This ones White Oak Quarter Sawn or Tiger cut Oak. But they all look the same got them at a estate sale where I got a few Larkin pieces for myself,they are heavy 3 to 4 pounds. About~2 inches high closed 6 inches high openned.6 inches deep.16 inches long unextended(ears openned) 27 inches full extended(ears openned) to end. One of the last made in the USA pieces label states"WEIS" made in Monroe.Mich.U.S.A.so buy America even if its just a memory piece, new hinges normal ware and use marks of course no crazing on label however.

Top Section Stackable Bookcase & Drawer File Cabinet GLOBE Oak Wood 1930's
This Was the top section of a GLOBE stackable Bookcase. It has drawers as seen in photos. This was found all by itself sitting in an old barn here in California. It is not in the best of shape as you can see by my detail photos. It will need to be restored if you are planning on using it once again as it was intended. The one side of the cabinet was sitting close to an ope door. So it shows weathering to the wood and metal strap. It has chips to the wood, cracks and will need some glue to make this all come back together. I am trying to be right up front with those looking at the auction that this will need restoration. Up for auction is this really nice vintage library card cabinet by Globe Wernicke from Cincinnati.It is a 2 drawer unit. I don't know when it was produced. It still has a paper label on the inside of the cabinet that has the makers name and the stain number. The drawers have dovetails. The cabinet does not. There is a small strip of the veneer missing on the back panel of the cabinet at the bottom approx. 1/2' wide see photo no. 5. It also still has the catalog brass medallion on the side see photo no. 6. It has been refinished at 1 time or another. But seems to still be it's original color. It measures approx.14' across x 16 1/2' deep and 5 1/2' high. The drawers are in good solid condition and good working order. Please ask questions before bidding. Payment is due 7 days fro closing. Five Section Globe-Wernicke Oak Sectional Bookcase- ca. 1940's
This five piece oak sectional bookcase also has the original top and bottom pieces. It is missing three doors and needs re-finished but when that is done you will have a $1500+ piece of furniture. I'm not sure of the age. This is one of the first pieces of furniture my parents got after they were married in 1946. I'm not sure if they got it used or new. This is an unusual size Globe Wernicke Stacking bookcase. In quarter sawn oak. It stands 51 1/4" tall, and only 25 1/2" wide, base is just a bit wider. It is 11 1/8" deep, and the base adds a bit more, to 12 1/2" deep. Shows some small scratches here and there, which I have tried to show in the pics. Beautiful antique oak 3" x 5" card filing box. Made by the Globe-Wernicke Manufacturing Company in the early 1900s. This is the 7310C Model. The box measures 5 5/8" wide x 10" long x 4 1/2" tall. It's constructed of 1/4" thick poplar and uses finger joints for strength. Inside measurements are 5 1/8" wide x 9 1/4" deep by 3 3/4" tall. Made for 5" x 3" index cards. Heavy duty solid brass hinges are in good working order. The circular"GW" decal on the front is clear. Clean and easy to read. Green paper Globe-Wernicke label on the inside is clean and bright. Has a built-in lid support and the adjustable stop is in good working order. Original finish was restored with several coats of MinWax Satin Varnish and hand-polished with 0000 steel wool and paste-wax to a soft luster. ... moreExcellent condition. All joints are solid. Antique Globe Wernicke Oak Map Blueprint Cabinet 5 Sections x 5 Drawers - Rare!
This is a RARE find. I am simply not going to get to all the"projects" I have acquired and this deserves to be cherished and used! This is a set of 5 Globe Wernicke Map- Blueprint Oak Cabinets each with 5 drawers. Will NOT sell individually. These were acquired from a university and clearly were used in a Department of Agriculture(they have the USDA inventory stickers still attached)office prior to be used in the university setting. I date their age to be 1920s or perhaps the mid 30's. These were clearly utility pieces. I recovered paperwork from the USDA from 1930 thru the 1950's. These were made when furniture was meant to be used for many. Many years and was not meant to be a disposable item. They are solid wood with dovetailed joints. While they are structurally very sound and solid(one drawer front was broken& glue ... morerepaired) they need some serious TLC and updating of handles- I will leave that to the new owner. I was planning to more thoroughly clean, sand, stain in a darker tone for consistency& replace handles with vintage bin pulls: of course, the new owner may decide to do more or less depending on preference. They could be painted( or even used almost as is. Overall dimensions each cabinet 33" wide x 13 1/4" high x 25" deep. All 5 units are approximately 66" high. This is a beautiful Globe six drawer filing cabinet. In quarter sawn oak. It measures approximately 43" tall, 11& 5/8" wide, and 22" from front to back. The back side is not oak and it is not finished. I believe it is varnished pine. The drawers show nice dove tailed corners. The files/letters stand up in the drawers. The desk part is 13.5" tall, the mid glass section is 9.5" tall, the bottom glass is 13.25" and the base with the pull out drawer is 6.75" tall. This is in nice shape.
