This cabinet weighs approximately 400 lbs, and we take the doors off top and bottom, which helps make it manageable. It has been crafted from burr walnut and smothered in the most exquisite floral marquetry decoration. This bookcase was the work of a master craftsman as the profuse marquetry has been brilliantly executed. It has two glazed doors on top for displaying your favourite books or ornaments. And it retains the original green velvet lining to the interior, the two panelled doors below are ideal for storage, and there are two useful drawers in the centre. A very handsome Baker Furniture. George II Styled, English Walnut Two-Piece Secretary. Circa late 1960s to 1970s This is a very well made and substantial piece of furniture with dovetail drawers and pull out support bars for the drop down desk. The interior writing surface has a pristine leather top. There are three adjustable shelves on the upper section and the inside is fitted with four drawers and a cubby. The lower section has two large and two small drawers. The upper section has veined mirror facings. There are three removable finials at the top. English Walnut and Walnut veneers are primary with oak as a secondary wood. The upper section has the lock removed and is available. The keys are missing for this piece. The drawer pulls are brass. This is a handmade mahogany Chippendale cabinet bookcase. There are three shelves total at the top. Two are not pictured. The dimensions are 104" H by 18 1/2" deep by 53 1/2" across. Very striking. Two doors in lower section. All hand planed. The panels at the back are hand planed as well. Never refinished. The color is dark. The pictures do not do justice to this item. The color is much better than the pictures indicate. And the mutens are large and beautifully sculptured as well as being glazed in on the back. The glass is wavy with bubbles.
