Condition: Used Location: Olathe, United States This is a great carved quartered oak barrister bookcase. Sometimes called a lawyers bookcase or stacking bookcase. This outstanding stacking desk bookcase ... moreis one of the nicest we have ever seen. It has leaded glass windows in the top two sections below the molded top. The carved fall board has a key that opens or locks the desk section. Inside are two strong desk lid supports and a nice set of pigeon holes with a single pencil drawer-fitted interior. The desk section sits above two full width drawers. The top drawer is shaped to fit the curve. The second drawer is carved to accent the fall board. Both drawers have original brass handles. The lowest section is an extra tall one with a"blind" door or wood paneled door to prevent breakage from feet. The entire piece sits on a molded base section. Quartersawn oak is showcased through the entire piece which is in excellent condition. I believe this case was made by the Viking Company. Overall dimensions are 34 wide, 15 deep, and 69 high. Although we have sold hundreds of interesting barrister bookcases over the years, we have never seen this model before. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. The desk has a large carved design on the front of the fall front desk top and opens to reveal pigeon holes. Slots and two small drawers within the desk itself. The fall front provides a large writing surface. The desk portion sits over a full width single drawer with two half width drawers and a cupboard base w/ door underneath. All drawer fronts have applied rectangular panels with walnut burl veneer covering the entire panels. Drawers have wonderful molded and stamped brass drawer pulls and back plates and all drawers, doors and fall front have keyholes with matching escutcheons and keys. All indications are this is the original finish on the secretary with only the inside fall front being refinished to match the rest of the desk. A duplicate of this secretary is in the former home of President Calvin Coolidge in Plymouth Notch, VT. now a museum. Go to Ebay Category: Collectibles. Georgian Mahogany 1940's Vintage Bookcase. 2 Glass Doors. Dating from the 1940's. This traditional mahogany bookcase has Georgian lines and is signed"Wabash of Indiana. The finish is in excellent condition on this American made vintage furniture. The front is gracefully curved. Brass pulls and working lock are original and shelves are adjustable. This is the best two door quartered quarter sawn oak bookcase I have had in some time. All original with leaded glass on the top portion of each door and original wavy glass on the bottom. Nicely carved Griffins on each of the corners. Four original adjustable shelves on the interior. We have refinished this piece and it is in excellent condition with a smooth and even finish. Great size at 44 wide. 15 deep, and 61 high. I have the original key for this bookcase-would be a great display cabinet or even china cabinet. In the very top center it has a router carved lion style or dolphin head. This has wonderful claw and ball feet at the floor area. This is 77" tall. At top center, in other words a taller cabinet than most other ones found. This is 40" wide, 14" front to back. The lattice china cabinet china door is 17 3/4" wide, 13" tall. The beveled glass mirror is 15 1/2" wide, 17 3/4" tall. The shelf above the china cabinet for setting items of choice is 21" wide, 9 1/2" front to back. The routered carved drop front secretary lid is 17 3/4" wide, and 15" front to back. When you find these secretary the interior cubby hole drawers are usually missing or just have one. THIS ONE HAS 2! They are 8" wide, 16 1/2" front to back and 2" deep. This has 3 bowed out drawers with the original brass pulls. This Bookcase belong to a retired Lawyer in our area. As for age and maker I can not find any information on it. I do know it is at least 30 years old. The bookcase has been hand painted white and the inside is black. It has surface scratches inside on the shelves and some minor scratches and defects on the outer shell as well. The bookcase has 6 pieces. Top: 1.25 inches tall by 11.5 inches deep by 36 inches deep. Shelves: X4) 15 inches tall by 11.5 inches deep by 36 inches wide. Large 2 Glass Door With Bins Antique Vintage Bookcase Selling a very unusual large antique bookcase that I have never seen one like it before. It is a 5 shelve. Double glass door bookcase that also has two nice bins that open up at the bottom of the bookcase. I do not know the age but I would guess early 1900’s. We have had it in our farmhouse for over 25 years. It measures 82” high(just 2” shy of 7 ft) 69 ½“ wide and 16” deep. It has 2 wonderful glass doors with the original glass. The two bins measure 34” wide and 16” deep. It is one piece and quite heavy. I am no expert on wood but it may be pine although the wood appears heavier than pine. We are also selling the 200 plus books that fit the shelves. The books are early 1900 novels and really help set the bookcase off. We are downsizing and selling our farmhouse. Antique Larkin Mission oak leaded stained glass doors bookcase
Hello. Up for auction is this striking antique solid oak, leaded stained glass, double door bookcase with scroll feet, with four adjustable shelves, and original hardware, with key for locking. It is solid oak, and in great shape for an old piece, including the original finish. Book case was made by Larkin soap company, of Buffalo, NY at the turn of the century, although there are no manufacturer's marks on it. It is indeed a Larkin. No breaks, or cracks in glass. Larkin was an early 20th Century soap manufacturer, who started giving away furniture as promotional items, and had so much success, they started making, and selling their own line of furniture. This auction is for a neat smaller oe petite Oak bookcase or cabinet from England. The leaded glass accented door is the thin type of lead that is applied to the glass. Just guessing I would think this cabinet was made in the late 50's to early 60's. It has super eye appeal and is in overall good condition without any rot or worm damage. It has a newer lock attached to the inside of the door but there was no key sent with it. It has the older style wall mounts on the back. Which I turned in for shipping. It also has 2 holes that have been drilled into the base where it may have been mounted to another piece at one time. It looks good standing alone and would make a super piece mounted to a wall.
