ANTIQUE FRENCH COUNTRY 18 c. OAK BIBLIOTHEQUE BUFFET BOOKCASE Formally the top part of an 18th century French Buffet a Deux Corps currently used as a bookcase. The bottom part was lost through the centuries and the top was raised on bun feet and rounded apron was added to the bottom. This transformation took place a while ago and the wood shows some aging and doesn’t stand out. Two doors open wide. Revealing the interior, which is about 52” from side to side ... moreand 13” deep and 52” tall. We have added two 1 ½” thick heavy duty pine shelves. Which are completely adjustable and will hold a lot of weight. The shelves were aged to look old and will not stand out. The front doors are covered with gathered French country style fabric. Which can be removed so that you can see the interior through the glass. The lock is in working condition, complete with the key. The bibliotheque measures about 59” at the widest point and about 20 ¾” deep. It stands up about 63 ½” tall and the top surface can be used as a shelf. Displaying collectable items. Very heavy. Solid and well built item. The primer material is oak. However, secondary woods was also used on the sides and the back, which is common for 18th Century furniture. We were using it in our office for files and fabric samplers and it is hard to find a bookcase which will fit oversized files and provide such great access as this item does. This is a great early Victorian walnut two piece bookcase. The bottom section is a two door glass bookcase with four adjustable shelves. The top half is a unique bookcase file storage section with three glass doors. Notice the unique horizontal files for storage on both side doors of this top section. On the brass hardware on this bookcase there is a patent date of Feb. 25th. 1858. This bookcase standing together measures 90" high, at the widest is 63" wide and the depth is 17" deep. What an outstanding piece of Victorian Walnut. I have had many that have suggested that this could of come out of a music room and the top was used to file sheet music. STUNNING 1930s POLISHED STEEL INDUSTRIAL DRINKS OR DISPLAY CABINET Item Description. This is a fine 1930s industrial cabinet which has been ground and polished to a bright steel finish. It is a stunning and rare model with a panelled bottom section on squat feet and adjustable shelves on moveable side rails. It has two working locks and keys. The door is reinforeced glass and there are adjustable original glass shelves(non-toughened) which are suitable for drinks. Bottles, and general display. For heavy books we recommend toughend glass which we can supply at cost. The interior and back are painted in a tough off white eggshell(FB Old White) which complements the steel beautifully. Adding a rich warmth to the piece. Overall this is a striking cabinet which is incredibly useful.
