I have spent endless hours locating a source for these knobs. This auction is for 2(two) AGED/BURNISHED) base knobs. Knob width at the TOP DIAMETER is 1 3/16" TOTAL KNOB HEIGHT is 7/8" BASE WIDTH IS 1/2" These are the correct size and profile for the drawer bases for Globe Wernicke® and Macey stack units(although they work great for Gunn, Lundstrum, Weis, Danner and others as well) There were at least 8 different styles of knobs. This style was the most prominent and the best made of the 4 cast versions. It is made of polished brass and then aged to match your original knobs. The aging and burnish process takes a 5 step process and can be hazardous to perform. The aging/burnishing is done at essentially cost. See our ad for Aging Solution. I assume ... morethey did this so they would know which drawer went with which desk, and does not allude to who made the desk. I got this from my wife's uncles estate. He was 96 when he passed and he got this desk from his parents estate in Spokane Wa. when they passed. It is made from solid oak and on the ends of the top board you can see that the top is tongue and grooved. Very hard to show in the pictures. I don't know tiger oak from quarter sawn oak so you be the judge. There is some what appears to be grey paint on one corner of the top. please see pictures. Someone drove 2 finish nails about 2' long into the top of one of the legs. One leg has a chip out of it at the bottom about the size of a quarter and another leg has a little grey paint at the bottom of one side. See pictures. I have made no attempt to repair. Clean or restore the finish on this desk, it is in the condition it was given me in. All in all this desk is in great vintage condition given its age. Top of desk 36 1/2" wide x 24 1/2" deep and the desk top is 29 1/2" above the floor. Will ship via Greyhound Bus to a station of your choice for you to pick up. old book case in need of completion and restoration. I was always going to put lead light glass in the doors but never got around to it, it would look equally as good with just straight glass in the doors, it is silky oak and is probably from around the 1920's, the shelves are old pine. It is missing the locks and handles but those can be both easily and for a low cost obtained from antique shops. It is also missing a small piece of moulding that went across the top just above the doors but again that is easily obtained in a variety of shapes. THE BOOK INSIDE IT ARE NOT INCLUDED. it measures 1905 mm high. 1375 mm wide and 440mm deep, it has three main shelves and one half deep shelf in the top. All full length. Up for auction is this bookcase door off of a old barristers cabinet. I am not sure of the manufacture.frame seems to be in solid condition. This door also has the old wavy glass.wood has a nice patina probably oak. Door measures 32 7/8" x 11 1/8" Glass size measured in frame is 30" x 7 7/8" There also are some cutouts on the frame out of the wood not sure what they were for. Antique mission oak barrister 2 stack bookcase refinished outside painted inside
This 2 section barrister bookcase has been refinished on the outside maybe 20 years ago and painted on the inside and on the back in a blue/grey sort of color. Probably done at the same time as the finish. The spots that might have revealed the maker name have paint on them so I am selling it as maker unknown. In addition to the 2 sections, it comes with the original top or crown, and a base with drawer. It also features metal side straps between each section and the scissor mechanism for the doors. No problems with the 2 glass doors. In fact, I see no problems at all. With the square straight legs it is very mission looking and being from about 100 years ago, I think we can safely call it authentic mission furniture in every way except the finish, although a lot of mission furniture WAS this color when it was new. The joints are all tight ... moreand all sections lock together easily and correctly. While only a 2 stack, it is a big 2 stack with each section able to take books as much as 13 1/2 inches tall. The over all measurement are 34 inches wide as most of these are, and with base and crown a total of 45 inches tall. It is a full 14 inches deep from knobs to back. I am listing this as local pick up only. BUT there are shipping/delivery options for you to chose from. RI delivery is $50 MA or CT. $100 If you are beyond those states. It is marked“Werniche System Elastic Bookcase” model“D-10 ¼ 298 1584” with patents dated 1896-97. The condition is good for its 100 plus years. It is solid and sturdy. Made in France Circa 1890 Oak Hand carved Barley twist Locking doors Minor cosmetic age splits, This is a lovely French Renaissance antique bookcase in solid oak. It was made in France around 1890 and is still beautiful today. Large barley twist columns flank the sides and hand carvings adorn most of the piece. The lower cabinet doors feature stunning carvings depicting the hunt and fishing. The handles of the drawers are carved leaves. The upper and lower doors lock with included keys. The bookcase section houses two wooden shelves that are adjustable. ... moreThe bookcase is in two pieces for easier transporting. Overall the condition is very good and the bookcase is quite sturdy. There are several cosmetic age splits to the bookcase as you would expect from a solid wood piece of this age. The largest two are on the lower side panels and some smaller ones are present on the counter top and the upper right barley twist column. The left side crown also has some older damage to it(shown in pictures) These cosmetic issues add to the character of the bookcase and do not detract from it. It is functional and clean to go right into your home. This spectacular antique French Renaissance bookcase is breath taking! The upper interior shelves are 10.5" deep. Each shelf adjusts via an alligator bracket system. The doors have stunning carvings to them. The drawer handles are carved leaves. Here you can see the lovely carved crown of the bookcase. This auction is for an Antique Mission Oak Bookcase. It is very similar in design. Size, and construction to soem Stickley Brothers bookcases I have seen. It is not marked. It has 3 shelves with 3 vertical spindles on each side. It has an old refinish. Some light wear to finish on top shelf and a few nicks here and there. It measures 32" high by 19" wide by 12" deep. There is a small hairline crack in top shelf on right side. Bookcase is solid as a rock. Joints are tight and strong with no movement. Buyer pays $125.00 for postage, supplies, and insuran.
