It is made of quartered oak with an antique oak finish and brass hardware. ... moreThe gold"Globe" stenciling still remains on the top of the unit. The dimentions are 18' deep. 17.5 wide and 31.5' tall. It is fully functional and the file cabinet unit and the card catalog drawers work as intended with the original hardware remaining. Condition: Good original condition with the usual age related scratches and blemishes to the finish. There is dark staining and a little rippling to the veneer on the top. Most of the finish is definately originial. But I'm really not sure if the sides of the file cabinet unit have been refinished at some point. They have the same type of wear as the rest of the unit, but are noticibly lighter than the patina on the rest of the pieces. The brass side bands have oxidation on parts of them. Shipping: Good news.I have all the packing materials and therefore will not charge a wrapping fee. Bad news.this is a heavy piece. About 60 lbs all packaged up so will be expensive to ship. A very fine antique. Circa 1890's, plain oak two glass door bookcase, with steam pressed scroll designs. There is a beveled glass mirror on the back crest, with two nicknack shelves spindle supported. There are four original oak adjustable shelves, one with plate groove. Doors include the original brass pull and lock, no key. The left glass door panel is original wavy, the right panel is new glass. Bookcase measures 6'4" 68" tall by 13-1/4" deep, the shelves 10-3/4" deep, by 3' 36" wide. Excellent condition: oak boards without chips or cracks, unworn original finish. Mirror has some backing cloudiness, all glass without damage.

High quality detailed claw feet in front and carved design on front of drop down desk top. Carved design on the front of the canopy at the top of the desk. The mirrors are original and are beveled around the perimeter of each mirror. The mirror on the left was broken. But has been put back together, but shows the crack. There are three drawers below the drop down desk top which are functional and slide in and out easily. The bookcase on the left has four shelves which are adjustable plus the bottom is also a shelf. The curved glass on the front of the bookcase is cracked from stress when moving this piece of furniture. It can be replaced. See photos. 125 year old (1889) antique oak desk bookcase secretary - La Crosse Wisconsin
Antique oak combination drop front desk bookcase secretary. 10 compartments& drawer inside. fixed shelf on bottom. Original beveled mirror. drop front has a key and it locks! After I purchased it I discovered the back of the little inside drawer had the words"Wm Thomas 1889" written in pencil. It is very faint. But readable. While restoring I took great care as not to damage the writing. I can't guarantee that it was written in 1889, but I do believe it is genuine. The front drop desk was missing and has been replaced with very old oak to match the piece, and an antique lock was installed. It originally had hinges on the drop desk. I couldn't locate antique replacement hinges and thus I went with brass chains which work very nicely and look great. This is a carved antique Victorian oak mirror from a side by side or bookcase cabinet. It measures aprox. 19 1/2" wide x 19 3/4" high on the left and is 18" high on the right. You will most likely want to re-finish the frame. The mirror glass is beveled but very foggy and will need to be replaced or re-silvered. Massive 7 Part Antique Quartersawn Oak Sectional Bookcase Globe Wernicke Macey Massive 7 Part Antique Quartersawn Oak Sectional Bookcase. It has 5 main section- 4 are the normal style with top sliding glass door and 1 is a 2 door cabinet style plus the matching original top and base sections. I found some numbers and markings. I am fairly certain it is Globe Wernicke, possible Library Bureau or another famous maker from the 1910 era. The unique thing about this set is the size- by far the largest size sectional bookcase we have ever seen. The sections all measures 33" long which is about the normal length but they are all 17" wide and 13" high- much larger than most for those dimensions. It will need some attention and hopefully minor fixing- some of the internal hardware pieces are missing and the scissors and slides will ... moreneed some adjusting. The sections are all in good, solid condition with no cracks or major damage, a few spots of edge chipping to the quartersawn oak veneer but over not bad. All the original knobs are present. The top is fine and solid with a couple ring marks where some previous owner probably had placed a potted plant but I really think these would polish up fine. The base is intact and solid but the finish is very worn, the best thing we can say for the base is it does the job. My 17 photos should show you a fine example of what is being offered. Guaranteed a genuine classic 1910 era sectional elastic barrister bookcase in the desirable quartersawn oak. We are asking for local pickup as this would be very difficult and expensive to ship; I can take it to a local shipping store who offers UPS Ground professional packing and shipping but please be aware it would be very costly with 6 huge boxes.
