These shelves were previously owned by a retired judge for Mercer county. This vintage bookcase is in excellent condition- all shelves have the original glass(wavy from time) original knobs, and all labels are present. The metal side bands are all present and genuine with no rust, and have not had the original patina polished away as some have. The oak wood shows an all original finish with a wonderfully rich coloring- it has not been refinished, or retouched in any way. It has all of the qualities and markings that make it a most desirable piece. The is a misson lawyers bookcase from Globe Wernicke. Label says 898 mission oak finish and each of the 4 sections are labeled. I think the finish is fumed oak and is a lovely mission look. 55 inches tall. 11 inches deep and 34 inches wide. 4 sections with a seperate top and bottom. Bottom has a nice drawer. Original finish. Original antique wavy glass. All doors open nicely and have all inside door mechanisms. All hardware is original except for 2 knobs which were replaced at some poit. I received this note from a viewer: This is an early stack of the Globe Wernicke Company as evidenced by the locking tab on the top.The style of side bands, the early non recessed sides on the top itself. And the closure mechanism. So it IS a GLOBE WERNICKE not a possible one. It is also in the D series line. Most likely a 198 series. I purchased it in 1995 and used it to safely house my rare book collection for almost 20 years. I believe it was refinished before I purchased it. Not the best job done… the refinisher got some glue on the glass of one of the 10” and the 14” unit. I believe it could be razor bladed off. but it never bothered me for what i was using it for. Ideal if you already have one of these bookcase. And want to add ... moremore units. I have seen individual units like these on eBay for $100-150. so, this is a bargin. Label but Gunn Furniture Company was best known for using the side slide mechanism(which this one has) for the doors rather than the scissor type. Beautiful quarter sawn oak case with 3 stacks and original wavy glass. The top 2 cases are 11 inches high able to hold books 8 1/2 inches high. The bottom case is larger at 15 inches high and able to hold books 13 1/2 inches tall. The case together measures 34 1/4 inches wide and 14 1/2 inches deep including curved over hang top and bottom. Antique French Carved Oak Brittany Bookcase Cabinet Cupboard 19th Cent
We are proud to offer a beautiful original French antique cabinet. Circa early to mid 1800s. Gorgeous and intricate carving. Original wavy glass. This is an imposing and substantial piece. It is in a top and bottom section. The bottom is 39 inches tall and 35 inches wide and 20 inches deep. The top shelves are 48 inches tall and 43 inches at the widest point(including molding) and 12 inches deep. Overall. It is 87 inches(7 feet, 3 inches) tall and 35 inches wide and 20 inches deep at its extremities. Condition is very good for a piece nearly 200 years old. In certain places you can still see the square-headed nails used in its construction. Of note: The bottom door is stable but can benefit from a re-hinging. There appears to have been a recent(in the last 20-30 years) attempt to re-hinge. Causing a chip in the wood. This can be readily repaired ... moreand we do have the missing chip that can be re-glued. There very top board(above the shelves) is missing. This is not evident unless you open the case and look inside and can be very easily remedied with a painted board. Two small strips of decorative molding at the base are missing(one is lost. The second has fallen off and can be re-applied) Again, given the small size and dark color, not something that is readily evident. The lock is a bit stubborn and might use some oiling. Key is present. Shipping will be freight. We like to use U-Ship and the buyer can make his/her own arrangements for pick up in San Antonio. Texas with the shipper of their choice or we can assist. I believe it is a Gunn Label but it is Hard to Read. The Top measures 34-1/4" x 14" x 3-1/2" overall. Inside Lip measures 10-7/8" x 33-1/2" center metal end pieces) The Top does need Refinishing if Desired. There are 2 Holes Drilled through Back Side. Probably Mounted to Wall at One Time. Greetings from Camden. Maine. This is an antique barristers bookcase in beautiful shape. It is very old but in great shape with a lovely, consistent semi-gloss finish on bright, heavily figured, solid-wood English oak cabinetry. The workmanship is excellent. This is the piece you want. It's functional, warm, and makes a tall, distinguished statement wherever it is situated. I don't know the exact vintage but am thinking early 20th century. Glass all intact. Hinge-work, articulated armatures for lifting and stowing panel windows is all functional. Even the tiny pulls are figured oak. Fortunately, this antique is completely modular/ stacking(with small dowels for registration at each tier) and can be shipped anywhere in lower 48 safely in six or seven pieces. This is a wonderful antique oak bookcase with stained glass doors. I'm guessing from Belgium. It is in excellent original condition. The original hardware shows grey in the picture from the flash. You are bidding on an antique library 3 piece stacking book case. It only has one stack but others can be added. It is made of oak in the Mission style and is in perfect condition. It is 26 inches wide and 16 inches deep and 18 inches tall out side dimensions. The box is 25" by 15" to stack. I live near Allentown. PA and I want it to be picked up. Shipping must be arranged before sale.
