Description This is a beautiful mantel that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian Home. It is made of oak and is unpainted. The varnish has alligator-ed in places. The bae has egg and dart molding framing the opening. The top is supported by 4 fluted corbels with carved festoons between the corbels. Tall mantels usually have a mirror at the top but this one has a bookcase with 2 doors. There are 3/4 round columns at the corners and a backsplash at the top. Unique piece! It measures 59.75 inches wide. 81.25 inches tall and is 14.75 inches thick. The firebox opening is 41.5 wide by 35.75 tall. Overall. It is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning. There are chips at the corners of the shelves and some small loss to the base of one column. Up for consideration is a fine Oak Arts Crafts 4 stack barristers or stacking bookcase. The bookcase stands 50 1/2 inches tall by 34 inches wide. Each Stack is labelled with a paper label to the interior. Each Section is stacked on the other and they are different dimensions. The bottom section being 15 inches tall the two center sections being 13 inches tall and the top one being 11 inches. The depth is 11 inches deep and the overall depth at the feet is 12 1/2 inches. The bookcase has a patent date on the door sliding mechanism of 1908. The finish is excellent. It is original dark brown varnish with extra clean interior coloration. The over all condition is pretty nice with some expected wear from age and use. All in all, it was actually very well cared for over the past 100 years or so. There are some small separations between the some of the boards on the two top shelves. It is very sturdy and is in ready to use condition. We left this bookcase exactly as it was when discovered in the estate and did not do a thing to it. It has been is storage for quite some time. It revolves just fine and rolls on the castor wheels very nice as well. I believe that the finish is original and it is actually quite nice with a rich warm patina. If you have been looking for a really nice and very unique revolving bookcase, this one here may be just the one you have been waiting for. This is a beautiful Victorian era oak stick and ball music stand or bookcase dating to around 1890. PLEASE NOTE: the outdoor pictures came out a bit too red in color.the stand has a rich. Warm walnut colored original finish. The stand features a beautiful bentwood lyre center crest accented with brass bandings. The entire stand has elaborate stick and ball spindled turnings including the front, sides and back. Please also notice that the top of the front legs have brass caps with ball finials which are missing on some others I have seen on ebay. This gorgeous music stand is fully assembled with brass caps and is very tight and super sturdy.
