We are located just south of Boston Ma. A mortise and tenon joint is a strong. Uncomplicated method of joining two pieces of wood, usually at right angles. It has been used for thousands of ... moreyears in architecture and the construction of anything from boats to furniture. Famous Maker 3 SECTIONS SOLID OAK Offered is a nice Mission Oak bookcase with lift-up and slide-in glass doors which are all in working condition. Each section is marked with the Macey trade mark. It is solid and sturdy. It stands evenly on the floor. The windows have antique wavy glass and there are NO breaks. The sections are graduated in size(9" 11" 13" this is a nice feature for storing different size books. Sections are interchangeable allowing for larger books on top or on the bottom. The buyer can take this bookcase home& use it. I can't say how long we have had these bookcases but can say they are a quality set and will have a major effect on a room when it comes to decorating. The brighter photos were taken with a flash. The bookcase is all original& retains all original parts, glass, knobs, sections. The condition is above average to better. It does need a polishing but that is minor. There are minor surface rub marks& use marks. There are no structural problems, the top lid's surface is solid wood& not the usual veneer, the wood is quartered oak(what ever that is) and shows a lot of grain through-out the cabinet& doors. This oak bookshelf is in good condition with some dings and scratches from years of use. The unit is five pieces consisting of base. Three shelves and top. At some point, the back panels were replaced, so I do not know the manufacturer. Outside dimensions are 50 1/2 inches high 34 1/4 inches wide. An English furniture maker has retro-fitted the interior to make it into a beautiful gun cabinet. There are two adjustable shelves at the top of the bookcase and then a"notched" shelf for the barrels to lean and at the very bottom there are cut outs for the stocks. The glass doors lock ... morewith an old French key. The lock is an old lock that is not easy to turn. And requires two complete revolutions of the key to fully lock or unlock the doors. At the bottom is a drawer that has hand cut dovetailed joints and slides in and out very easily. The bookcase is very heavy and sturdy and in good overall condition. There are quite a few age splits in the piece, some on the barley twist columns and on both sides of the case. These are purely cosmetic and do not affect the structural integrity of the piece. Please note this cabinet ships in 1 piece and does not break down. Beautiful early 1900"s Lawyers barrister bookcase. Come apart into 7 sections. This bookcase is 73 1/2 inches tall. 34 inches wide and 11 1/2 inches deep. It has lovely tiger quartersawn oak grain with a waterfall contour top and base. All antique wavy glass and all brass knobs and straps. All doors have hardware and open with ease. This bookcase is very clean and has age appropriate wear. Top has a spot in corner with light lifting. Took photo, not bad. This bookcase is very tall and sturdy. Paypal and local pick up only. If you want a private mover to pick up, I will work with them. I have a highlander and could deliver the bookcase for $45 cash in Brooklyn, Queens or Manhattan. Thanks.
