The fall front has a wonderful grain and retains its original lock there is also a key(not original) It has wonderful solid mahogany drawer linings with solid oak drawer bottoms. This bureau bookcase really a class of its own offering very good value and priced to sell. Dimensions are width 41 inches depth 23 inches and height 90 inches. ANTIQUE CHINA GLASS DISPLAY CABINET MAHOGANY BOOKCASE CHIPPENDALE BALL & CLAW
This is a stunning probably early to mid 19th century Chippendale style solid mahogany cabinet. It consists of two pieces. The top has two large doors with 20 individual panes of glass which are individually glazed and create with the unusual framing a very interesting pattern. A few of the panes have been replaced. A few parts of the framing around glass have also been replaced/repaired. The doors will lock with the original lockset and key. It may be originally of UK origin and possibly Irish. I have not nailed down where it was built but it came from a prominent Charleston estate. The base has two hand dovetailed and very roomy drawers.and the secondary wood is pine. There is a cool carved and shaped skirt in front and on the sides and the legs are cabriole which end in carved ball and claw feet.which are fabulous and detailed. The drawer ... morehardware is new. The finish is original. The lighter parts of the mahogany absolutely represent that rich patina that is only achieved over many. Many years. Inside. The four shelves can be set up for your needs as they are adjustable. There are either plate rails or part of plate rails on each shelf. which seem to be original. Each shelf is 43" long by 8" wide. The back is made of 2 20 1/4" wide and at least 1/2" thick hand chamfered boards. It consists of separate upper and lower cases with a fold over slanted writing surface with the following features& characteristics: The outstanding mahogany finish with crotch mahogany veneer is in excellent condition. Viewed from front or sides. The entire piece has a stunning, rich and warm patina. The upper bookcase and desk features a handsome projecting molded crown/cornice with a flat top. The double glazed panel bookcase doors feature individually paned window glass. All but two of these beautiful old wavy glass panes are original. The two(which were cracked) have been replaced with wavy ... moreold glass of the same period. Three wood shelves. Original to the piece, are fitted inside the bookcase. These. Plus the bottom of the book cabinet provide four display and storage surfaces for books and collectibles. Each of the 3 shelves is 39.25” wide and approximately 7.25” deep. There are two shallow. The desk is on carved bracket feet, appropriate pierced brass pulls and escutcheons. Includes the three locks to the lower three drawers. Drawer interiors are in mahogany. The drop front desk brought down automatically advances the lopers to support the desk. There cubbyholes and drawers, with center door doors compartment. The bookcase has fluted pillars, doors include the lock, no key. Lattice doors with a single glass panel. Inside are two stationary mahogany shelves. The crest has a pedestaled flaming urn. Antique English-Made Late George III Three-Piece Inlaid Drop Front Secretary/ Bookcase Flame Mahogany. C. 1800 41”L x 21”D x 80.5”H This beautiful secretary bookcase is space-saving. Handsome and commanding. It comprises three independent parts- 1) Moulded cornice with graceful profile accentuated by faux inlaid dentils 2) Two-door book cabinet with intersecting mullions defining nine glass panes each 39”L x 11.25”D x 44.5”H 3) Drop-front desk has 8 letter pidgeonholes and 4 drawers laid out side-by-side. Drawers have beautiful brass pulls. Original leather desktop has embossed border around. The drop front has swan neck brass pulls and plates. Although the righthand pull is missing. The cabinet below has two doors with frame and panel construction. Bracket feet support the whole at bottom. The desk is made of mahogany intricately inlaid ... moreacross cornice. Desk front and lower cabinet doors with ribbons& garlands together with fine trim lines and geometrics. These inlays may be period or may have been added in the later Edwardian(1890-1920) The top of the drop front is trimmed all the way around its perimeter in satin wood. Both right and left sides of the three components display a rectangular accent trim inlay. Desk drop front. And upper and lower cabinet doors have large keyed case locks, which date the desk to the late George III period. Original keys are included. This is a superb example of English cabinet-making art at the highest level. The desk is in very good condition. With few dents. There is a horizontal crack running from the lower right side to about the middle of the desk front(see photo) The brass pull on left side is missing. The wood trim at the top of the lefthand letter pidgeonhole needs re-glueing. Small piece from left foot on side needs re-glueing. Interior desktop leather is original and could stand to be replaced. An antique. Circa 1900, mahogany stained maple double door bookcase. The doors have upper leaded glass design of tulip and leaf, the tulips with beveled glass. There are two interior sections each with three adjustable removable shelves. The case has front corner columns with carved capitols, and paw front feet on casters. Cabinet measures 5' 60" tall by 4' 48" wide by 14" deep, the shelves 10" deep. Very good condition: original finish- some minor stain or ring spot on the top, maple without chips or cracks. Crack to a leaded glass petal and crack to tip of a tulip petal. All leading original and secure. The glass door panels are fine and original. The doors have had their locks removed, each door now with glass handles that replace the original metal handles.

Including dining furniture, bedroom furniture, and drawing room furniture, as well as lighting and ornamental pieces. Very impressive& fabulous quality antique mahogany breakfront bookcase. In good condition dating from around the 1890-1910 period. Please be aware that the top middle door was locked at the time of photography, so we couldn't put the shelves in that part. Consequently it doesn't look as good as it should. This bookcase has many wonderful features& I will try to list a few. I suppose it's Chippendale in style. The top cornice has a very detailed Greek key moulding. The three doors have fine astral-glazing& adjustable ... moreshelves inside. The bottom section has two flame mahogany drawers& two cupboards with flame mahogany panels that have some intricate carvings on the corners. The top of the base section has a carved edge& the drawers have original brass handles. This all sits on very bold legs with more good carvings plus ball& claw feet.
