Each of the drawers has a working lock and the key is included. There are 3 glass shelves on the upper center and 6 wood shelves in the upper left and right unit. Each of lower doors conceals one wood shelf. The upper unit is lighted but the current cord should be replaced. This item is in wonderful antique condition with only minor signs of age appropriate wear as pictured. The original antique bubble glass is free from breaks or damage which is very hard to come by. The backing to the upper unit looks to be lined in a off white colored wall paper and there is a red drip stain to this surface as seen in image#18 on the lower left side. Wear to the finish on one of the shelves can also be seen in image#18. Breakfront measures 92"h x 72"w x 16"d in total. The upper unit measures 56"h x 70"w x 12"d. The item is hard to measure as the safety chain prevents laying end to end. But we carefully found that it is 6 inches around so your wrist needs to be 5.5 inches around or less. The Victorians were smaller people. The center part measures 1& 3/8ths inch long and just over 3/4 inchwide. The largest middle opal is 5mm or 1/2 carat sized. The clasp looks like a slide, but is a clasp. The amount of 14k in the item is approx 3 grams, plus whatever amount is over the base metal. It is absolutely stunning. Antique Theodor Fahrner Brooch / Pin Enamel Pearl Gems, in book (#4167)
Antique Jugendstil- Schmuch/ Art Nouveau brooch. Silver pearls. Gemstones and enamel. Made in Pforzheim, Germany, circa 1908 by Theodor Fahrner. Approx 1 3/8 inches(32mm) accross widest part; approx 1 7/8 inches from top to bottom. Weighs 6.5grams. Brooch consists of an arc or semi-circle. Enamelled in green and colette set with light-coloured stones. WIthin the reserve formed by the arc, and extending downwards, is an openwork lattice of filigree scrolls and swags. A ring of pearls is set parallel to, and inside the arc. 3 elongated highly stylised tulip-shapes, enamelled in a range of greens from almost white to bright. These are attached via silver loops, and are therefore free floating. Alternating between the heads of the tulips are 4 pearls. From the bottom silver wire-work are 5 chains. According to a relative of the addressee on the postcard, Eliza Anderson, this brooch was already in Eliza’s possession when she received this postcard in 1923. The relative indicated it had come from yet another relative on“Tour” in 1889. When the addressee passed away, the brooch and the postcard were together in a box along with other Italian souvenirs. The tesserae(tiny tiles) are set in black glass(onyx? and depict The Temple of Vesta. Frame is probably gold filled but I was unable to find any markings, and did not want to risk damage by cleaning. These old copper bookends are ggorgeous. The copper has much patina and the wood overall light wear. They stand 5" high and 5.25" wide. The hand punched copper shows a wonderful scene of a Mexican fellow wearing a s ombrero snoo z ing. With a cactus in the background. The punched copper depicts a variation in sizes of the holes that creates a rick texture. Ther e are su b tle differences between the two. One is a bit darker then the other, this one also has a border on the bottom of app 1" where there is no punching. The other holder has holes pu nched within this border. Nice Antique Autograph Book 1880's
Thsi auction is for a beautiful antique Autograph book from the 1880's and it is really lovely. It measures 3 3/4" x 6" and it is older than the hills. It belonged to Algernon Skillings 1889 and he signed his name and the date on the first page. It is in very old worn condition but even so it is still pretty incredible. About 28(sides) of its pages have been written in- autographed- and they are beautiful. Most of the pages have been written in but some have not. The autographs are wonderful and so is the handwriting. The binding of this early autograph book has pulled away from the pages and as you can see some of its pages are separate. The cover shows alot of wear around the edges and the pages have yellowed with age etc. but even so it has survived nicely and it is still a fantastic collectible- a beautiful piece of the ... morepast- and it displays so beautifully. The scene on the front is so precious. It is a very beautiful early autograph book. This is a great find. I have one more listed as well from the same era.
