From an estate sale. A 5-section barriester bookcase with base and top. The top 3 sections are regular bookcases, the bottom two sections each have 3 file cabinet drawers. Patent date 1917. Overall outside dimensions are 41.5" wide, 17" deep, and 79" tall. The inside dimensions of the bookcase shelf: 15.5" between the back and the back face of the door, 40" wide, and 10" tall to the bottom of the door when it is rolled up- that is, the*useful* height that you could fit a book in. I did some google research and couldn't find a standard size the corresponded to these dimensions. So they may be a custom unit. Very deep, but pretty short. There's nail holes on the fronts of the file drawers, looks like they used to have handles, and probably also brass frames for putting a label in. So you might want to replace ... morethose. Up for auction is a rare 3/4 size mahogany Macey mission-style bookcase section with matching mission-style top. Original glass and hardware. Original finish has the alligator-skin texture to it. The section also has the original Macey label inside it. The top is solid and retains the original brass arm on the back that enabled this bookcase to"attach" to the one next to it. ANTIQUE OAK GLOBE WERNICKE/MACYS BARRISTER BOOKCASE Wavy GLASS DOOR
Up for auction is this bookcase door off of a old barristers cabinet. I am not sure of the manufacture.frame seems to be in solid condition. This door also has the old wavy glass.wood has a nice patina probably oak. Door measures 32 7/8" x 11 1/8" Glass size measured in frame is 30" x 7 7/8" There also are some cutouts on the frame out of the wood not sure what they were for. Antique mission oak barrister 2 stack bookcase refinished outside painted inside
This 2 section barrister bookcase has been refinished on the outside maybe 20 years ago and painted on the inside and on the back in a blue/grey sort of color. Probably done at the same time as the finish. The spots that might have revealed the maker name have paint on them so I am selling it as maker unknown. In addition to the 2 sections, it comes with the original top or crown, and a base with drawer. It also features metal side straps between each section and the scissor mechanism for the doors. No problems with the 2 glass doors. In fact, I see no problems at all. With the square straight legs it is very mission looking and being from about 100 years ago, I think we can safely call it authentic mission furniture in every way except the finish, although a lot of mission furniture WAS this color when it was new. The joints are all tight ... moreand all sections lock together easily and correctly. While only a 2 stack, it is a big 2 stack with each section able to take books as much as 13 1/2 inches tall. The over all measurement are 34 inches wide as most of these are, and with base and crown a total of 45 inches tall. It is a full 14 inches deep from knobs to back. I am listing this as local pick up only. BUT there are shipping/delivery options for you to chose from. RI delivery is $50 MA or CT. $100 If you are beyond those states. I would still deliver to most of the rest of New England, all of NJ, parts of PA that are East of Harrisburg and parts of NY that are East of Binghamton for $200. For any distance greater than that. and maybe some of those) You are welcome and encouraged to arrange and pay for your own packing and shipping. Antique Barrister Bookcase Oak IRS Gold Plate On Front
Antique Oak Barrister Bookcase with glass doors. Reclaimed from a local IRS office. There's a gold plate on the top front that reads Treasury Department Internal Revenue Service. Circa 1920's. Original finish. Bookcase comes apart. Three stacking interlocking pieces. Apparently the IRS employee had something round on the top forever because there's a round faded spot.
