England, Composed of Old Parts Description: This beautiful chair has a gorgeous ... moregolden glow to the wood throughout. It features a pierced crest with delicately carved scrolling designs. The crest is joined by two carefully turned pillars that run parallel on either side of the caned back. The pillars turn into the back legs. Which dowel into the frame of the chair before terminating plainly in two squared legs. The frame of the seat is plain undecorated oak, with a partially intact cane seat- the frame is not original to the chair and has been clearly rebuilt. The front legs are turned and shaped. The piece is framed with a turned H Stretcher, with a second turned stretcher running between the back to legs. The patina across the piece is light and even. Due to the rebuilt nature of the chair. It is not a museum quality piece, but is a fine addition for anyone looking for a piece of the early 18th Century reworked for use today. Measurements: 47 3/4" high by 16 1/2" wide by 15 1/2" deep. From the ground to the seat measures 17" Condition: Refinished at one point. Seat is entirely rebuilt. Turnings appear to be later. Turned out of old wood- numerous pegs appear to be new as well.
