Victorian Armchair in Rich Mahogany Circa 19th Century
An unusually large and grand Victorian armchair which has been in the family for 4 generations. I remember. Fondly sitting in my grandmother's lap while she read and told stories to my little sister and I in the early 50's. My grandmother, a Norwegian, told me her parents brought this chair with them when they came to this part of the country back in the old days. The size of the chair is impressive at over 51" high at the back. The depth is about 30" the arms are 27" and the width is about 29" Though not an expert on woods. I believe this elegant, stout chair is made of mahogany. The current covering is one my late mother chose to match the trim of her living room at the time. In my opinion, though the fabric is in good condition, the chair would be much more striking with a different color and texture of covering.
