This set came out of a courthouse in the New Hampshire mountains, and they were refinished five or six years back. The courthouse sold them because a couple of them have split seats, and they were afraid the courthouse would get sued if someone ended up with a splinter in the wrong place, if you know what I mean. Their loss is our gain: Can you imagine putting these around a conference table? How about inside a home theater or a large dining room table? The chairs are finished in a medium oak stain, and have seven slats in the back that curve like a popsicle stick. The arms are all steamed ash bent oak, as shown in the pictures, with multi-turned spindles supporting them and the original iron rod that keeps the arm tight at all times. The base has multiple turned legs, multiple turned spindles across the front as cross stretchers, and the original metal cross bracing, which we used to take out before selling the item in the old days, but which people now seem to like. 3 Gorgeous Antique Needlepoint Chairs from Italy. These Victorian-style tapestry chairs are very beautiful and comfortable. The wood frame of the chairs has great floral carvings on the back. Legs and apron, the chairs also have cabriole front legs. The chairs are done in a medium golden brown finish, the needlepoint is excellent with a light tan background, with colors of pink, blues, greens, gold and white, brass tacks finish the edges. The label on the chairs states the location of manufacture"Chateau D'ax spa via Nazionale del Glovi 159 Lentate S/S(Milan) Made in Italy. The chairs are 19 3/4' from side to side, 20' from front to back, and each weigh 13 pounds.

Much of the sanding has been done so as to restain them. The wood is solid and in very good condition. The upholstery was removed completely from one chair and the other needs to be reupholstered. Also. When I obtained the chairs. I researched that they are not antique, but are reproduction. I do not recall how old they are, but at least 50 years. I schlepped these from my home in Wisconsin to Fort Worth. Texas last July and they have sat quietly upstairs since. I purchased them for $700 gently used five years before. I owned a 4 story Victorian and these were on the 4th story in the guest room. I am anal and a slight germaphobe. They have no smell at all nor have they ever. They came from an estate sale of a fairly prominent beer mogul in Wisconsin. The mansion was staffed and a non-smoking home. I liked how they looked really old but the fabric was so pristine and fresh. They appear to be modern but I have no clue. The spring cushion system on the undercarriage implies they were made well and maybe re-covered? I run a tight ship and they were well maintained and seldom used. Literally in five years I doubt ten people have sat on them. I used them with a high end Chess/Game table. ... moreI should have sold them in WI as they don't match my stylings now. They were perfect though for a more stately home. They did get some light scuffs and dings in the move which really bothers me still. Minor touch up or leave them as they are. I could do it. But I would rather not hinder them further. I bought touch up sticks and could almost assuredly mask them, but I am forthright and want whomever buys them to make those decisions. I know they are worth well above my asking price, but it is Spring cleaning time and I am trying to fall in line. They show wonderfully.
