Being offered for sale is this lovely set of four Victorian Oak& Tiger oak Caned Seat Dining Chairs circa 1900. This fine set of chairs each feature beautiful carved backs with turned spindles wonderful cane seats that have been recently replaced and are in excellent condition. A perfect set of chairs for an oak dining/ breakfast table. Each of these chairs measures 39 1/2 inches in height from the floor to the top of the back.Seat width of 16 1/2 inches, seat depth of 15 inches, seat height of 18 1/2 inches and each chair weighs approximately 10 lbs. We believe these chairs to have their original finish and the cane seats are in excellent antique condition. Each chair measures a total height from the floor to the top of the back of 34 inches. With a seat width of 16 1/2 inches, seat depth of 15 1/2 inches and seat height of 17 3/4 inches and each chair weighs approximately 8 lbs. These 19th century chairs feature a shaped crest-rail. Two Antique Rose Back Cane Seat Parlor Chairs I have no expertise in antiques. But to my eye these chairs are in very good condition for their age. The cane seat on one is virtually perfect, while the seat on the other has breaks in maybe two or three of the woven cane pieces, none of which being what I would call a"break-through" affecting seating. The overall height ot the backs of the chairs is 31-1/2 inches give or take. The height of the seats is around 17-1/2 inches. Each seat is about 16 inches wide at the front. I have been told that these are"parlor" chairs. As opposed to"dining" chairs. That makes sense to me as they are not as sturdy as I would expect a dining chair to be, and were definitely crafted for smaller people of yesteryear. I believe the chairs are perhaps 75 to 100 years old(could be older? ... moreas they belonged to an aunt of mine who was born around 1900, and I think she may have inherited them from her parents. Antique Round Dinning Flip Top Table Chair 47" w 4 Bent Wood Cane Seat Chairs
This is an Antique Victorian Solid Hardwood Round Dinning Table with a Flip Top That Turns Into a Chair. 47 inches in diameter. Oak Bent Wood Chairs are from the 1920's(or earlier) Chairs have no hardware. All joints are doweled. Chairs were recently professionally refurbished. They were taken apart. Stained, glued and put back together. Finished with a light varnish. Then all had new cane seats made. Total cost was $600. I still have the receipt. Chairs have a very slight teeter. Caps on the bottom of the legs should take care of it. You could also leave it like it is. Table is artisan made and estimated to be much older then the chairs. It has not been refurbished. Tabletop is nice and smooth with desired natural wear. Table is structurally sound with a bit of a wobble. It's never bothered me. If desired. A set of six(6) Antique, woven cane seat side chairs. The seats are square/trapezoidal shaped. I do not know the type of wood. Though the grain is noticeable though not pronounced, so it could be a stained oak or perhaps some other hardwood with visible grain. The construction is what I call"spindle in hole" with an undetermined method of attaching the backs. Though I would guess screws that were hidden. Gold paint, now faded, decorates and accents the backs and some spindles. One seat needs to be re-caned. All the chairs are in good condition usable condition. Your bid is for this very nice pair of Antique Prayer chairs. Made from American Wormy Chestnut Wood and having Rush Cane Seats. They have a wonderful French Country look and from what I can tell. Date to the early 1900's. They are in good condition for their age and are still quite sturdy. I weigh in at almost 200 pounds and they both held me comfortably. They show some scuffs and marks as would be expected on utilitarian pieces such as these. I would say they have been nicely re-caned at one time- not recently- and may have seen some repairs along the way, as can be seen in my pics. Modern glide feet have been added to the legs to prevent floor scuffing. One chair(left one in pics) has a small piece of seat molding missing at the bottom. Each measures approximately 32" tall. The claw foot on the front two legs of each chair is perfect on all of them. I can only find a few blemishes. There are a few little pain smudges on the backs of a couple of the chairs.
