Antique Cane Back Cloth Seat Rocking Chair
Very interesting old rocking chair. The octagon pattern woven back is in great shape and the cloth seat really gives it character. It appears to be made of cherry wood but I can't be 100% sure but a beautiful dark wood regardless. Pressed into the top is a beautiful rose and leaf pattern. The cloth seat is in good condition and held in place by a pretty ribbon material that is also in good shape. The seats on the chairs are stuffed and typically have some shifting or rolling of the padding but this one is well rounded and has held its original shape. Some of the thin material on the bottom has come loose but could easily be tacked into place. There is some splintering on the bottom of the front edge of the seat but not enough to compromise the integrity of the seat. A beautiful addition to a country decor. Very Nice antique wooden chair with traditional Hand Caning/ Hole-to-Hole/ Strand Caning back and seat Strand or hand caning is the most well known of the seat weaving designs and patterns. This traditional chair seat weaving method is woven by hand with individual strands of cane. Through holes drilled in the perimeter of the seat, thereby creating the familiar octagon(8-sided) pattern. Many different gauges of cane are used to suit the design of the chair and size of the drilled holes, but all woven in the same 7-step pattern. The 7-step method of hand chair caning tedious and time consuming to weave. But a lovely, strong and durable pattern when completed. Antique cane seat wood chair herringbone weave wicker straight back
Here's a chair that has a lovely glow about it in sunlight. Thanks to the patina of age it has acquired over the years. Its simple lines are enhanced by the texture provided by the tight herringbone weave of the cane seat. Its age is unknown. But this chair is quite short, crafted in an earlier age when people weren't as over-sized as we are today. The back of the chair rises 29 inches. And the seat is 13 inches tall measured at the front. The front legs are 16 inches across at the top at the seat. The seat is 12 1/2 inches deep and measures 13 inches across at the back. This chair is in good condition for a well-used. Antique, with expected wear, dents, dings, mars, scratches, etc. Back is sturdy, as are legs, with no wobble. This beautiful old child’s Lincoln Rocker is made from solid oak wood. It has a wonderful patina and overall appearance. I purchased this rocker at an antique store about 20 years ago. The cane seat needed replaced. And I replaced it with a gorgeous antique faux leather seat by“SPAULDING FIBRE PRODUCTS” as is stamped on the bottom of the seat. Vintage Wooden Nursing Sewing Rocker Chair with Cane Seat
Up for auction is a vintage Nursing/ Sewing Rocking Chair with a cane seat. It is low to the ground the seat is approximately 14" from the ground. The cane is in good condition however is coming up from the seam as shown in the photographs. This is all wood except for a couple of wood screws on bottom. The rocker legs themselves measure 29" The entire height is 32" the seat is 17" x 15" the back rest portion measures 14" from seat. I don;t know much about this as to the age but it is an extremely nice piece.

The chair is supported by 4 legs: 2 straight legs in the back and 2 cabriole legs in the front. The chair has the following measurements: Height: 29 1/2" Height from floor to seat front: 13 1/2" Width at Widest Point(seat front) 17 1/2" Depth: 20" We have been unable to identify the type of wood used to construct this chair. It is a tight-grained wood with a medium-tone"honey" colored finish. This is in good. Antique condition overall with some general signs of age and use. The chair was once painted, but was later stripped and re-finished. The chair seat was also cracked and repaired previously at the front joint. There was a crack on the back ... moreof the seat rest which was also repaired. This repair is poorly aligned, but firm and sturdy. There is one wooden button missing on the back of the chair. A beautiful set of 4 OAK caned seat chairs. One chair has a fractured back spindle which can be repaired easily. I inherited this set thus I know they are vintage at least and probably antique. The condition of the wood is excellent with possibly a fresh clear coat. The oak is a medium tone. Measurements are 29 inches tall and 17 inches wide. I don't know the history of the chair but its part of the estate of my parents and was totally refinished by a family member.
