The needlepoint seat is original with the seat itself featuring springs and padding for comfort. As stated this is a petite chair with the top of the seat measuring 14 inches from the floor. The chair measures 21 inches long by 20 1/2 inches wide and is 38 1/2 inches tall. The wood on this chair is solid walnut and is well preserved and cared for. There are minor portions of surface cracking on what appears to have been some sort of a varnish applied to the front legs. This doesn't affect the wood or quality of the chair. As this chair is in the age range of 150 years old plus. These minor imperfections add to the authenticity of evidence of its true age. Additionally, there are a few tacks missing(about 4) from the seat area which can be viewed in the photos. Shipping: I will package this for shipment and ship via UPS. It is 33 inches tall to the back of the chair. The seat of the chair is 17 inches from the ground. The back of the chair is 14 inches wide at it's widest point. The seat itself is 17 inches wide in the front and 13 inches wide in the back. The chair is quite old and as such has some condition issues. It has 2 splits on the back that I have tried to take pictures of. One can't be seen at all from the front of the chair. In the case of this chair I would suggest that it be mostly ornamental in nature. Even if this chair were perfect it would not be made to support the average American these days. A small person could sit in this chair with no problems, but I would not suggest ... morethis chair for everyday use. It is really meant to be placed somewhere to look pretty. This set came out of a courthouse in the New Hampshire mountains, and they were refinished five or six years back. The courthouse sold them because a couple of them have split seats, and they were afraid the courthouse would get sued if someone ended up with a splinter in the wrong place, if you know what I mean. Their loss is our gain: Can you imagine putting these around a conference table? How about inside a home theater or a large dining room table? The chairs are finished in a medium oak stain, and have seven slats in the back that curve like a popsicle stick. The arms are all steamed ash bent oak, as shown in the pictures, with multi-turned spindles supporting them and the original iron rod that keeps the arm tight at all times. The base has multiple turned legs, multiple turned spindles across the front as cross stretchers, and the original metal cross bracing, which we used to take out before selling the item in the old days, but which people now seem to like. Up for sale today. I am offering a gorgeous antique wood carved chair. This is a very unique piece. Not only does it have beautiful ornate carvings throughout, there is a carving of a small girl on the top center of the chair. Her eyes have been outlined in gold, she is very haunting. Right not the back and seat are upholstered in red fabric, but one may desire to re-do the upholstery because it is not even. This chair was repainted a few years ago with a very dark brown finish. If you look closely you can see gold undertones. This chair is very old, it's been in my family for as long as I can remember. VICTORIAN GOTHIC REVIVAL ANTIQUE LADIES CHAIR HAND CARVED GORGEOUS! Hand made nails used Golden colored with floral needlepoint Thick padded back& seat Oriental/gothic influenced hand carved wood Front casters are original This is a very unique style and I haven't been able to find anything like it. All of the nails(including the very large one with the square nut pictured in photo#9) have all handmade heads. Has a black finish which appears to be the original finish. Has these unique finger hooks on the top in the back(see photo#4) Your fingers fit perfectly under them so that you can lift the back and roll it on the front casters. This piece is in really good shape for its age. The wood has finish rubbed off in spots throughout and the chair may need some slight tightening. But tight for the most part and certainly sturdy enough ... moreto use. In photo#3, you can see a small, round, clear spot on the seat. Please see the photos for more details as the photos act as part of the description as well. In photo#9, there is a large bolt head showing in the back of the chair by the seat and the end& nut show on the bottom.it's not like that on the other side. It appears to be hand planed and DEFINITELY hand carved. The black fabric on the bottom is newer and without removing it. I'm not sure what's underneath, but in pulling the sides back a bit, all of the nails are hand made& old. Other than the staples holding on that back fabric, all of the hardware is 19th century. I believe that it had been reupholstered at some point due to original nail holes around the current edges of the fabric. It sounds like it is filled with some straw and under the black bottom fabric, there is what looks like a potato sack type of material. So, I'm thinking that if it were reupholstered, it was done a long time ago. There are nicks and paint missing throughout from use. The overall presence of this piece in the room is just awesome. I can certainly imagine see this in a fine ladies parlor. The casters are brass

CORNER CHAIR Acquired at an estate sale is this vintage Victorian style corner chair. Great detail in the spindles. Legs and frame. Antique white and gold finish. Measures 26 inches tall at the top of the corner decorative knob and 25 inches tall to the top of the back of the chair rails. Sitting area measures 16 ½ inches by 16 ½ inches. Back rest pillows measure about 10 inches by 15 ½ inches and 10 inches by 11 inches. The pillows are in very good condition. The fabric on the seat has some wear spots– see photos. Sturdy chair- a 200lb adult sat on it for a very moments and it was sturdy and stable. The legs do appear to warp inward a bit and the bottom appears to have been firmed up with some plywood. I schlepped these from my home in Wisconsin to Fort Worth. Texas last July and they have sat quietly upstairs since. I purchased them for $700 gently used five years before. I owned a 4 story Victorian and these were on the 4th story in the guest room. I am anal and a slight germaphobe. They have no smell at all nor have they ever. They came from an estate sale of a fairly prominent beer mogul in Wisconsin. The mansion was staffed and a non-smoking home. I liked how they looked really old but the fabric was so pristine and fresh. They appear to be modern but I have no clue. The spring cushion system on the undercarriage implies they were made well and maybe re-covered? I run a tight ship and they were well maintained and seldom used. Literally in five years I doubt ten people have sat on them. I used them with a high end Chess/Game table. ... moreI should have sold them in WI as they don't match my stylings now. They were perfect though for a more stately home. They did get some light scuffs and dings in the move which really bothers me still. Minor touch up or leave them as they are. I could do it. I do not know the age. It was made by Albert M. Lock& Son, Inc. in Boston, MA. This chair was donated to the Escapees CARE center to help raise funds for its residents. VICTORIAN/ ASIAN CARVED WOOD ANTIQUE CHAIR HAND CARVED GORGEOUS! Hand made nails Golden colored with floral needlepoint Thick padded back& seat Oriental/gothic influenced hand carved wood Front casters are original This is a very unique style and I haven't been able to find anything like it. All of the nails(including the very large one with the square nut pictured in photo#9) have all handmade heads. Has a black finish which appears to be the original finish. Has these unique finger hooks on the top in the back(see photo#4) Your fingers fit perfectly under them so that you can lift the back and roll it on the front casters. This piece is in really good shape for its age. The wood has finish rubbed off in spots throughout and the chair may need some slight tightening. But tight for the most part and certainly sturdy enough to use. ... moreIn photo#3, you can see a small, round, clear spot on the seat. Please see the photos for more details as the photos act as part of the description as well. In photo#9, there is a large bolt head showing in the back of the chair by the seat and the end& nut show on the bottom.it's not like that on the other side. It appears to be hand planed and DEFINITELY hand carved. The black fabric on the bottom is newer and without removing it. I'm not sure what's underneath, but in pulling the sides back a bit, all of the nails are hand made& old. Other than the staples holding on that back fabric, all of the hardware is 19th century. I believe that it had been reupholstered at some point due to original nail holes around the current edges of the fabric. It sounds like it is filled with some straw and under the black bottom fabric, there is what looks like a potato sack type of material. So, I'm thinking that if it were reupholstered, it was done a long time ago. There are nicks and paint missing throughout from use. The overall presence of this piece in the room is just awesome. Has a carved ornate floral design in the wood at top of chair. It was made around the very early 1930's. Overall in very good vintage condition. Has nicks, scratches& wear from normal use& age of item which approximately 84 years old. All material is perfect, no holes, rips, tears or stains. Measurements are 33" tall& 30' in length when unfolded.
