From a local estate sale comes this beautiful very old. 1880's, handmade wood antique child's rocking chair. Previously owned by my neighbor who is 92 years old, she tells me this was made by a German carpenter(name unknown) in Kansas City for her mother's 1st birthday! Wood(unknown what kind) is gorgeous and still has shine to it but not sure what to use to polish.so sold as is. Measures 28-1/2" at the floor base and 18" high. We can only imagine how many little ones throughout the years rocked away in this historical little chair. She also tells me that the upholstery was changed several times throughout the years.but can't remember when. But rather a later addition; the chair is from the first quarter of the 19th century. This adorable little chair measures approximately 29 1/8" from floor to the top of the back crest; 13 1/2" at the widest part of the seat; 13 1/2" from the front of the seat to the back; and has a 16" splay to the legs. It is in very good antique condition, with no splits, breaks, or repairs. It has wonderful warm patina, usage-related dings, and appropriately mellow wear-just the way we like them. Vintage or Antique Child's Spindle Back Rocking Chair-Gold Trim & Picture-Allan
Offered is this small vintage or antique child's spindle back wooden rocking chair. The chair is stained or painted a dark brown and has been accented with two colors of gold trim. A highlight is the wonderful gold and multi-colored country scene painted on the back. I don't know how old this chair is but as you can see from the photo of the underside it has some age to it. My guess is that the painting was done more recently: L. H. Allan" in gold on the underside may be the name of the artist. I have tried to find information on someone by that name to see if they may have done the work but have been unable to come up with anything. If anyone knows anything about this please let me know! The chair sits just over 21 1/2" high. Is approx. 15" wide across the back, 12" wide across the seat and has a rocker length ... moreof about 18 1/2" The seat is more than 1 1/4" thick. The chair is very sturdy and solid. The spindles wiggle slightly but seem in no danger of coming apart. There are numerous small scuffs and scrapes on the chair. Some all the way through to the wood. There are also numerous small marks in the paint. Tiny paint splatters, etc. Some of these may be able to be cleaned up or touched up. Despite these flaws. Overall this is still a great-looking chair! As you might expect. This is a rather big and bulky item so shipping will be rather expensive. I am calculating the shipping using USPS but will send FedEx Ground if that is cheaper. I would also welcome pickup in person by anyone close enough to make that feasible. Here for your pleasure is an adorable child's rocker.unusual. Originally folding I think. From the late 1800's or early 1900's is my(somewhat educated) opinion. I am guessing on its being walnut. It is in fine sturdy condition with an old repair. Joints tight. It measures 17" deep by 12.5" wide and 12.5" high at the back and the seat is 11" high. As with any antique. There are imperfections. The seat fabric is a modern vinyl. An old needlepoint, a section of old Kilim rug(they make pillows from such sections) a remnant of quilt.any of these would be a charming new cover if desired. Or just a tiny pillow. Or as is since the doll or teddy who resides there will show better on the plain seat. Just a few possibilities. Not a difficult replacement. Antique Child's Folding Chair or Deck Chair -- Curved Back and Slatted Seat
We don't list a lot of furniture on eBay. So I'm not sure where to start with this unusual folding chair or deck chair that features a curved back and slatted seat and back. Apart from the fasteners, it is made entirely of wood, possibly maple, and the workmanship indicates it must be pretty old. It folds up very smoothly and it feels solid enough to sit on, even though the seat slats are thin and widely spaced apart. It is much too low for an adult to sit on, so I'm listing it as a child's chair, although ladies' chairs back in the 19th century were also built smaller and more delicately, It is about 31" tall, from the floor to the top of the back, and the seat is about 16" off the ground. It is about 14½" across at the top of the back, and the seat is about 16" wide and 12½" deep. Because ... morewe'd rather not get involved in crating this item for shipping. Antique Child's Rocking Chair This is an antique child's. Children's wood rocking chair(maybe Oak? with bent and inlaid wood in the design. I don't know how old it is and it doesn't have a makers mark, but it looks really old. The arms and back are all one piece with inlaid wood throughout. It has six wood spindles to attach it to the seat. There is also a small metal bar on each side. The bottom has two wood braces and then the rocker. It measures 13" across front, 16.5" tall, 6.5" to the seat from bottom, and rockers are 19" front to back. This is a very old child's bentwood armchair. It is marked"Thonet" and has a label under the seat that is hard to read. It says"Thonet Wein" and has an address in New York. It has holes in the seat for wicker but came with a padded seat that has wood underneath. That wood has a crack across the underside. The chair is fairly sturdy but probably could have the screws tightened. I know nothing about these chairs. So please examine the photos using the magnifier and ask any questions before bidding. *Rare Style* Child's Antique Wicker Chair~Very Sturdy
The auction you will be viewing is for a very rare style antique child's wicker chair. It measure 22" tall and 18" across the back. The back legs are 11" across and the front legs are 13" across. It sits about 4" off the ground at most. The brown stain is worn especially on the center where the child's back rests& the wicker is unwound from one of the back legs& near the top on back. Both a fairly simple fix. One of the unique features are the wooden beads which are places around in an arch on the chair back. Very nice old wicker chair! We are offering one of the OLD ORIGINAL SMALL WOODEN ROCKING CHAIRS from Our old home place that my family settled in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri in the 1790's. Those of you that do not know me or of my story. I am the Last of an early patriot pioneer family that came to this country at the time of the Pilgrims. They were whalers.Merchants,long hunters, solders, loggers, miners, farmers, carpenters, stone masons, and settlers. Well I am the last of that line. so now has come the time in my life's journey that I need to focus on finding new homes for these countless items that has served my family for many generations. ALL MOST EVERY THING THAT I WILL BE OFFERING IS OLD, ORIGINAL, ANTIQUE, OR PRIMITIVE. I DO NOT SELL REPRODUCTIONS OR KNOCK OFF ITEMS! I have very few new items but the few that I would offer are genuine and are described ... moreas new but never a reproduction item will I offer. THIS EARLY LITTLE ROCKER IS MADE OF WOOD THAT HAS BEEN PAINTED GRAY LONG AGO. IT HAS A TWINE BOTTOM AND 3 SLATS ACROSS THE BACK. THERE IS A LITTLE DUCK PAINTED ON THE TOP SLAT, THRE LITTLE OWLS IN HATS PAINTED ON THE SECOND SLAT, THE BOTTOM SLAT HAS 3 LITTLE KITTENS WEARING HATS AND CLOKES PAINTED ON IT. THE PAIN IN VERY THIN AND VERY OLD. IT HAS STARTED TO CRACKEL SLIGHTLY, THAT COMES WITH AGE. THE CHAIR IS ABOUT 22-1/2" HIGH AND ABOUT 14" AT THE WIDEST PART WHICH IS THE FROND END OF THE ARMS. THE ARMS ARE ROUND. THE SEAT MEASURES ABOUT 10-1/2" DEEP AND 11-1/2" WIDE AND IS MADE OF TWINE STRING THAT HAS BEEN WOVEN IN A COMMON SIMPLE DESIGN THAT WAS OFTEN USED IN THE EARLY DAYS. THE ROCKERS LOOK SOLID I SAW NO CRACKS REPAIRS OR SPLITS. THE JOINTS THROUGH THIS LITTLE CHAIR SEEM TIGHT. THE CONSTRUCTION WAS MORTISED.DRILLED GLUED AND NAILED WHICH IS COMMON FOR THAT ERA. ALL IN ALL THIS IS A GREAT LITTLE ROCKING CHAIR FROM A TIME LONG AGO. IT SHOWS VERY WELL AND WOULD MAKE A GREAT DISPLAY FOR OLD DOLLY OR EARLY TEDDY BEAR.
