NO RESERVE! Very fine and very well made hanging light fixture circa 1930s and possibly French in origin. Unmarked that we could find. We have also been told that the lamp could be Italian or even Spanish. What is certain is that the lamp is one beautiful piece of functional art! It is comprised of bronze, painted white cast metal, brass and a woven basket of wire forming the inner portion. Attached to the wire frame are numerous mold-blown multi-colored glass flowers and all are accounted for. They each glow nicely once illuminated and you can add a dimmer switch for a softer mood lighting effect. The overall condition is very good and the lamp is ready for use. The long ceiling chain is not included but a brass ceiling cap will be included with the lamp. The lamp accepts 3 standard size bulbs up to 150 watts each. NOVERDY Wonderful 1930 french art deco chandelier in nickel plated bronze holding a thick and large shade in moulded-pressed glass by the glass factory Noverdy from Dijon France. Both canopy and shade representing pine cones. A wellknown pattern of Noverdy(short for nos verreries de Dyon.our glass factory of Dijon) A small company producing a line of high quality glasses both under their own name as well as for the verrerie de vosges. Same era as Muller, Schneider, Degué, Daum, etc. This hard to find model especialy in uncoloured glass, I saw pink amber purple and brown toned ones more often, is as far as I know always unsigned. The suspension has a drop of 37.5 cm(14-3/4" and has a diameter of 40 cm(15-3/4" If you have a high ceiling I can place longer pipes to increase the drop. The chandelier is in very good condition. Degué Wonderful french art deco lamp in wrought iron. Around 1926-1936, with a glass paste shade in beautiful coloured mothled glass signed Degué. Being the company of David Guéron. From Jewish Turkish origin he came to France to join the foreign legion. Seduced by the modern art déco movement in the early 30ies he set up his own glasscompany attracting craftsmen from the Schneider company producing vases and shades for lighting 1926 onwards. Like most glass makers and lighting factories the Degué company did not survive the financial crisis of the 30ies. Production stopped in 1936 and the plant finaly closed down in 1939. The height of the lamp is 34.3 cm(13-1/2" The nice base in forged iron shows the hand of a master blacksmith. It has a beautiful dark-brown patina. The lamp is in excellent condition. GREAT PAIR OF FRENCH DECO ACCENT LAMPS! I got these lamps from an estate and honestly. Don't know a lot about them. They seem to be hand-glazed ceramic and are yellow with a red flame design. They measure 9 1/4" tall from base to top of socket. As you can see, they both work. The wiring has been replaced to work with American electrical requirements and the switch is located on the cord. The base and top are an aged brass finish with embossed roses and a tiny beaded edge. Lamp base is stamped"Made in France" see pictures 6& 7. This satiny glass lamp in beautiful shades of yellows. Oranges and reds looks like a gorgeous sunrise/sunset when illuiminated. The base alone can be lit or the combination of the base and shade together may be on. Both the base and shade are signed Le Verre Francais followed by the Lorraine Cross. The plug and switch are original while the frayed silk cord looks newer. A wonderful nickel plated solid brass art deco chandelier with 3 beautiful opalescent shades. This model is always unsigned yet most likely to be a production of Ezan a French glass factory from the town of Ezanville near Paris. The shades show beautiful tones of blue and amber depending the angle of the light shining on them as we know from the best opalescent glasses like Sabino Verlys or Ezan pieces. The chandelier is in very good condition. I have renickeled the mounting. One cup has a tiny chip on the inside of teh rim. Another cup has 3 small chips on the inside. Non of them are disturbing and won´t be noticed once the shades are mounted. The chandelier is rewired and has european E14 sockets. The signatures are vague and on some shades almost gone but traces are still visible. André Delatte(1887-1953) was the private banker of the Muller freres company and thats how he came in touch and fell in love with art nouveau and art deco glassware. He took up a study in chemistry and in 1919 he started to work for Muller decorating vases. In 1921 he opened his own workshop in Jarvil. The outskirts of Nancy. TRULY. ONE OF THE MOST INCREDIBLE LAMPS WE HAVE EVER COME ACROSS! This is a very special, OLD(1920s at least) cast iron with brass or spelter, large table or floor lamp. The lamp has an overall French design and the color palette is a beautiful pattern of red and gold. The raised base is circular with three small cabriole legs. Atop the base is large and tall, French styled, candlestick or torch with flame. This feature towers above two Foo Dogs/Dragons and the light housing is at the top. A large, old, crackled amber glass shade rests on top of the torch. The large bobeche is beautifully crafted and features a series of Fleur de Lis which are fashioned with acanthus leaves. The dragons are seated on the base as well. They face opposite directions so as to guard from all angles. One of the dragons is a beautiful Jade green. He is seated upon ... morea raised column or pedestal which has the same bobeche design as the lighted torch. The second dragon is a unique black to midnight blue combination color. He sits directly on top of the base. Both of the Foo Dogs/Dragons have yellow painted eyes and INCREDIBLY ORNATE detailing which is gold gilded. They wear large breast plates and headdresses of gold and their rear legs are accented with acanthus scrolls and floral medallions. Their teeth are bared and their expression is fierce. The jade dragon has a plume tail feature while the black dragon has a more nondescript tail. There are chains attached to both the torch and the pedestal of the jade dragon. These attach to the base. The dragons are bolted to the base as is the torch. There are so many intricate features to this lamp! All of the pieces are thick cast(VERY HEAVY) The base is a thinner metal. The dragons/foo dogs are a heavy, cast material but do not accept a magnet. The bobeches are thick brass(painted) and do not accept magnet either. Hettier& Vincent was a famous french lighting company. Wholesale and retailer with its shop at the prestigeous and beautiful Place de Vosges in Paris. On page 7 of the H&Vgeneral catalogue a range of wrought iron lamps was presented with precious shades by Gallé Muller freres and Delatte. H&V also sometimes used Daum shades for their top pieces. Nowadays a single shade made by the famous glass factories of Daum and Gallé make prices at auctionhouses in the 5 to 8K range. He started to study chemistry and in 1919 opened his own glass manufactory in Nancy(rue du Feaubourg des 3 Maisons) In 1921 he opened a new factory in Jarville in the outskirts of Nancy having his own oven. Already very succesful he employed 30 workers. Having about 60 employees 5 years later with Paul Maheux as artistic director responsable for the designs and glass production. The financial crisis of the early 30ies made Delatte closing down in 1933 after which he moved to the south of France to work in insurances. The lamp can be dated around 1925. I add some pictures of my HV catalogue(catalogue general planche 7) showing the lamp. Base and support, is all original. It is 27.8cm high. The shade has a diameter of 15.6cm. It's in good condition. Charles Ranc produced some model bronze bases and chandeliers signed with the name of the shop Darboy. And sometimes some small Darboy signed shades can be found. Always signed with golden colored ink. Looking at the apearance of darboy signed glasses it's most likely they were produced by Lorrain Daum. Verreries des Hanots A wonderful 1925-1930 art deco chandelier in nickel plated solid brass or bronze. Holding beautiful very rare shades in thick moulded-pressed glass. The three side shades are signed Verreries des Hanots France. The large bowl is a model made by Hanots but like many of their models this one is always unsigned. Verreries des Hanots is like Verlys one of the names the large company Holophane used for their production of art glasses. The lovely and very well made fixture of this chandelier is marked RM on several of its parts. I wasn't able to track down the full name of mister R.M. designing this lamp. But have and had several other beautiful mountings bearing the same marks(see last two pics) The chandelier is in excellent condition. I have renickeled and patinated the mounting. VERLYS A rare french 1930 art deco chandelier in solid brass or bronze holding a bowl by Verlys. The thick shade out of moulded pressed glass is signed Verlys France. Signature pressed in the mould in the centre on the inside of the shade. This model is represented in the 1932 Holophane/Verlys catalogue as centerpiece#835. And in their 1935 catalogue as shade for lighting#835EP. It is called"les canards sauvages" the wild ducks) Holophane was a large glass factory little west from Paris. Between 1920 and 1940 they produced high quality shades for lighting under the names of Verreries des Hanots and Verlys. The suspension has a drop of 34.5 cm and the shade has a diameter of 34.5 cm(13-9/16" It's in excellent condition. CHARLES RANC : FRENCH 1930 ART DECO CHANDELIER opalescent suspension lamp lampe
Charles Ranc A very rare 1930 french art deco chandelier by the famous french lamp firm of Charles Ranc. The shade in thick pressed-moulded opalescent glass in a geometrical pattern is typical for Ranc production of the late 30ies. The company started in 1909. After the first worldwar this Paris based company(rue Amelot. Bastille) became succesfull with a line of lighting in neo-classical style. Often gilded bronze fixtures holding coloured glass-paste Schneider shades. Around 1930 they changed style into a more modernist look. Nickel plated bronze or coppered brass mountings using opalescent shades of the EZAN glass factory. Almost all these shades are either unsigned or signed Ezan france. The large shade on this suspension is an exception. Its a model exclusively produced for Ranc and it is signed on the rim Ranc freres france(Ranc brothers ... morefrance) It is 35 cm in diameter(13-3/4" and the suspension has a drop of 45.5 cm(17-7/8" It's in excellent condition. The nickeled bronze fixture is replated. The lamp comes rewired and holds a european E27 socket. For the US Canada or Japan I will replace it for a new US standard socket. But almost all of them have miserable fixtures often of cheap poor quality. And those with good mountings matching the pattern of the shade creating a wonderful harmony of glass and hardware are not that common at all. Yet here I found another one again! This chandelier holds a beautiful shade in white frosted pressed glass representing roses. Signed SEVB for"Société d'exploitation des Verreries de Bagneaux" A small glass factory from the 20ies in a village south from Paris. Mid 30ies. After the death of Leopold Appert in 1931, SEVB merged with Appert frères and became the Société d'exploitation des verreries de Bagneaux et Appert frères réunies. CARION and SCHNEIDER : FRENCH 1925 ART DECO LAMP ... wrought iron
CARION- SCHNEIDER A high quality art deco lamp by François CARION the famous Brussels based belgian blacksmith(1884- The iron is signed F.Carion and holds a signed Schneider shade in orange and light-pink mottled glass paste. Authentic lamp that can be dated around 1925. The lamp is in superb condition. It is 23.5 cm high(9-1/4" and about 34cm long. Rewired with new rayon covered twistted cord and it holds its old european E27 socket. For the US I will rewire the lamp with a US candelabra base socket and 2-prong plug. The base is numbered 15245. Often people think the numbers on the iron of Carion refer to models in a catalogue. But this is not the case. I have had several times the same model with different numbers and once I had two different items with the same number. I have original invoices showing that they refer to order ... morenumbers. Sometimes we also find the word'belgium' on his iron. These pieces were made for export and I've seen this mark mainly on items I found in the USA. Carion either used belgian made shades in cheap thin pressed glass or the more luxerous glass paste shades he ordered in France at the glass manufactory of Charles Schneider. At the end of the ad I've added a slideshow with other Carion pieces I have had and ones I have in my private collection. François Carion The revival of wrought iron by the beginning of the 20th century was not in the last place caused by the inventions of new techniques develloped by blacksmiths like Edgard Brandt and others. In Belgium the road was paved by two famous"ferronnier d'art" and each of them created a school of followers. The flamish blacksmith Louis van Boeckel(1857-1944) with his very detailed and naturalistic style and the wallonian smith F. Carion. Over the years more then 200 young men became master in the arts working in the company of van Boeckel and many of them later had their own successfull workshop. Van Boeckel already wellknown.
