Both canopy and shade representing pine cones. A wellknown pattern of Noverdy(short for nos verreries de Dyon.our glass factory of Dijon) A small company producing a line of high quality glasses both under their own name as well as for the verrerie de vosges. Same era as Muller, Schneider, Degué, Daum, etc. This hard to find model especialy in uncoloured glass, I saw pink amber purple and brown toned ones more often, is as far as I know always unsigned. A wonderful nickel plated solid brass art deco chandelier with 3 beautiful opalescent shades. This model is always unsigned yet most likely to be a production of Ezan a French glass factory from the town of Ezanville near Paris. The shades show beautiful tones of blue and amber depending the angle of the light shining on them as we know from the best opalescent glasses like Sabino Verlys or Ezan pieces. The chandelier is in very good condition. I have renickeled the mounting. One cup has a tiny chip on the inside of teh rim. Another cup has 3 small chips on the inside. Non of them are disturbing and won´t be noticed once the shades are mounted. The chandelier is rewired and has european E14 sockets. His son Henri Petitot took over in 1917. He wasn't a retailer at first and sold his lights to lamp shops all over France. Europe and the States. In the late 30's they changed their style and produced lights in a modernist look which often had opalescent shades in bluish semi-crystal by the Ezan glass company. H.Petitot A french 1932/1935 art deco chandelier in nickel plated solid brass or bronze by the famous Paris based company of H.Petitot holding three large wonderful panels and three side-shades. The bronze maker Antonin Petitot started his company in 1878. His son Henri Petitot took over in 1917. He wasn't a retailer at first and sold his lights to lamp shops all over France. Europe and the States. In the early days of art deco they produced precious fixtures in high quality bronze with shades from the best french glass factories such as Muller freres. In the late 30's they changed their style and produced lights in a modernist look. To survive the depression their fixtures often became cheaper- partially done in pressed brass. These beautiful lamps often had opalescent shades in bluish semi-crystal by the Ezan glass company. They ... morecertainly set a trend and nowadays lots of chandeliers are offered also on ebay under the name of Petitot pieces which in reality are often pieces made by other companies such as Ranc freres Lacroix or names nowadays forgotten. The model chandelier I present was first made around 1931 and in the 5 years that followed Petitot made fixtures in several versions all holding these large panels in combination with this model side shade. Both canopy and other parts of the mounting are marked with the usual Petitot initials AP for Antonin Petitot. The three panels are signed Petitot France. They were produced by Muller freres: they also exist unsigned and are also represented in the old Muller catalogues. For the side shades Petitot chose a well known model Degué shade and ordered unsigned ones for his chandeliers. Normaly Degué sold this model with its own Degué signature but for Petitot they made a new unsigned mould. He fled scandal at the age of 22 by joining the French Foreign Legion in 1914, only to be sent to the Western Front, where he was wounded and then pensioned out of the army. Following the 1925 Exposition des Arts Decoratifs in Paris. He set up his glassworks in Compiègne, about 50 miles northeast of Paris, to produce tableware and other functional glass. Compiègne had been the site of the Great War Armistice. In 1926, the year after the successful Paris Exhibition, Guéron moved into the more lucrative production of French art glass. He opened Verrerie d’Art Degué in Paris, a glassworks at Boulevard Malesherbes along with a gallery ... moreat 41, avenue de Paris to promote the art glass he named“Degué” His cameo glass designs leaned heavily toward natural motifs, but also used brilliant colors that became his signature. His internally decorated vases, lamps and lampshades met instant success. Another Degué line used a sandblasting method to decorate monochromatic vessels with graphic devices and designs. The Degué factory made vases. Paper weights, bowls, perfume bottles, stemware items such as liqueur glasses, lightshades, chandeliers, art glass lamps, and half-round ceiling lampshades. It holds nine wonderful glasses by the famous Muller freres glass company. The bronze maker Antonin Petitot started his company in 1878. His son Henri Petitot took over in 1917. He wasn't a retailer at first and sold his lights to lamp shops all over France. Europe and the States. In the early days of art deco they produced precious fixtures in high quality bronze with shades from the best french glass factories such as Muller. In the late 30's they changed their style and produced lights in a modernist look. To survive the depression their fixtures often became cheaper and often done in pressed brass. These later art deco lamps had opalescent shades in bluish semi-crystal ... moreby the Ezan glass company. They certainly set a trend and nowadays lots of chandeliers are offered also on ebay under the name of Petitot, pieces which in reality are often made by other companies such as Ranc freres Lacroix or names nowadays forgotten. The chandelier here on offer was first made around 1931. I show also a picture of the 1931 Petitot catalogue representing an almost identical fixture on page 9. My chandelier was produced a little later and has a straighter to my opnion better matching fixture than the 1931 version. If you would dismantle the mounting you would find that it's marked on several of it components with the usual Petitot initials"AP" for Antonin Petitot. The four panels as well as the square bowl are signed Muller freres Luneville. The four cups are an extremely rare Always unsigned Muller model. The chandelier has a height of 90 cm(35-5/8" and a diameter of 68 cm(26-3/4" It is in excellent condition. The panels and the square bowl have some unimportant chips to the rim. Degué A gorgeous french 1930 art deco chandelier in nickel plated solid brass or bronze. A beautifully shaped downlight chandelier holding 5 shades by Degué in frosted moulded-pressed glass. Degué. The company of David Guéron, opened their doors in 1926. Guéron employed the ceramist and designer Cazaux as his artistic director and head designer. In 1936 production stopped and it finaly closed down in 1939. All five shades are signed Degue. The chandelier is 69.5 cm high(27-6/16" and has a diameter of about 51 cm(20-1/16" It's in excellent condition. One of the shades has a small white spot inside the glass near the signature. C.Jamain& Frontisi A beautiful french 1930 art deco chandelier in nickel plated bronze or solid brass. The fixture holds four large glass panels in moulded-pressed glass. The four are signed Frontisi. Frontisi was a shop and wholesale for electriciens and lamp designers in Paris. An unsigned version of this model panel was used by la maison Petitot. It seems like these shades were produced by Degué the famous glass factory from Compeigne France and that Frontisi asked for his signature on the ones he ordered. This chandelier was designed for/by C.Jamain a lamp shop in Paris. And it is represented in the Jamain catalogue dating Mai 1930 on page 214. This model ball is refered to as boule aux bandeaux in the old catalogues and exists in four different colours. A smaller version exists as well. Gilles used the large one for this pendant. Pierre Gilles was a producer of art deco lighting in Paris during the interbellum.
