This is a truly lovely eyecatching oil lamp. The Hinks' Duplex system 2 functions perfectly. When I bought it was set up with the wick but I have never used it. The chimney is a replacement it has Griffin brand and marked foreign on it. The lampshade I am told was original but I dont know its certainly from the right era. I bought this about 15 years from an Antique Shop. I have loved it dearly but I am downsizing and changing styles so there is now no place for it. This item will go by courier or can be collected. Antique Victorian Duplex Brass Double Student Oil Lamp Electric Original Globes
Hi. You are bidding on the most beautiful lamp. It is a Duplex student oil lamp that was converted to electric. You can see by the cord and plug that it is one of the oldest electric lamps you will ever see. It has been tested and did work when I bought it but the cord is super old. I would get a second opinion before you use the cord. The globes are LOVELY and even more beautiful in person. They are in good condition with no nicks or cracks. The globes measure approximately ten inches across at the bottom and 4.5 inches or so on the top. The entire lamp is 27 inches when measured from base to top of chimneys. I believe the chimneys are also original in that they look like old glass and they are the exact measurements of the original chimneys. One of the chimneys has some roughness around the base where it goes into the metal but it is not ... morechipped. If you collect these antique lamps. I think you are going to love this one. There are problems, but minimal. I see that there is one lamp socket that is sort of tipped to one side. There is some difficulty getting the round base for the chimney into the larger frame for the glass globe. But I think that all of these issues are probably just a part of owning a lamp like this. I’m selling a collectable and beautifully-coloured English oil lamp from around 1890-and in full working order. It makes a wonderful centrepiece and. Like all oil lamps, it gives a beautiful soft light that adds atmosphere to any room. This is a really striking and attractive lamp in fantastic condition with a very unusual coloured font that graduates from deep turquoise to milky white. The font has no chips or cracks and is decoratively moulded in a basketwork design. The elegant upright stand is spelter. I think, with the look of bronze, and the base is shiny black ceramic. There’s no maker’s mark on the base. But the screw fitting burner with twin thumbwheels is marked‘Duplex’ English Made’ The glass chimney. Also undamaged, ... moreis marked‘Griffin brand Fireproof, foreign’ Dimensions: 58cm high.17.5 diameter of base Condition: Absolutely original and undamaged. Antique Duplex banquet Parlor Piano Brass Lamp oil Cast Iron Floor satin shade
I have lots of vintage lighting items listed and more added all the time. This is a great lamp with a beautiful satin glass shade and the shade has no chips or cracks it will have wear and some ring roughness that they all have. The outer shade does have the original brass ring at the top which the inner shade sticks up through. This like most of these has been electrified so you can safely use it today. Some people do convert these back to oil burning and you would have to replace a few pieces to do that but not that hard you can buy the burners and parts on ebay. This has normal wear you would expect but for being from the late 1800s is fantastic and has very cool claw feet on the base. The inner clear glass sahde may not be the original I really don't know it's just clear glass so who knows the outer shade is old you can easily ... moretell its age. The lamp will be taken apart for safe shipping and the shade will be double boxed. Shipping to lower 48 only and no overseas. A superb antique Hinks's No2 Duplex oil lamp burner. Dating from the late 19th century. The rise and fall burner has a bayonet type fitting and a ceramic end to the winder which reads"Hinks's No2 Duplex. Benetfink& Co" Benetfink& Co were a large retailer in London from 1845 to 1907. There is a small split to the chimney holder. See photo, otherwise all in good working antique condition. This superb burner made by the famous Hinks company would look great on any antique oil lamp. Height of lamp to top of chimney is c.66cm(c.26" Brasswork is in good condition with some specks of tarnish, which may well disappear with cleaning, minor dents and scratches and the usual small specks and imperfections common in pieces of this age. 1800's unsure of the maker of this beautiful lamp. It has hand painted floral design like those of Germany Dresden style. It has a Duplex oil lamp fittings. It was made without a factory mark. It does have numbers on one foot of the base and it appears to be 41 with a slash after the numbers. This is a striking piece of art. 30 1/4" tall with shade. This lamp is unmarked or the mark is covered up where the pieces are attached. It was converted to electrical even though the oil container does not have leaks or damage. It does have damage. It has chipped petals on some of the flowers and some may be missing. Both of the babies have damage as well. One is missing a thumb& the fingers were glued back on. But this hand is hidden on the shoulder of the other baby. The other one was repaired on the right side. The arm& hand was ... moreglued back on. This beautiful piece can be professionally repaired. A what I believe to be Victorian oil lamp. It stands 23" 59cm) and is in good condition for its age. I think the main body is cast. not magnetic) is without damage, and on the inside of the base raised is 1831. The glass font is good with no damage. The burner has Hinks and sons on the side and there is 1 chimney finger missing. Both wicks will rise and fall, and one of the ceramic inserts has the writing worn. HEAVY SILVER PLATED DROP IN FOUNT FOR ENGLISH DUPLEX OIL LAMP, PARAFFIN OR KERO
Up for auction is this attractive heavy silver plated metal drop-in fount for a Duplex burnered oil lamp. The fount is made of heavy metal. Probably'white metal' also referred to as'hard plate' and is plated with silver. It has no dents, some wear and rubs to silver, and a definite ring of wear to the underside. Apart from that ring the silver plating is intact and nicely polished, though there is still some grime in the nooks and crannies arond the pattern. Approx 16 cms max diameter. And would fit a ring or pot about 150mm diameter, the shoulder is curved. 100mm overall height, and the collar has a thread for a typical screw in duplex burner, 39mm or 1&1/2 inches diameter. A good heavy Victorian Oil Lamp. The lamp is complete. In working order and has been lightly cleaned to show its beauty but to preserve the antique element. It stands 13” 33cm tall. It is all original. There is no damage. Only the odd minor insignificant ding and split in the brass as would be expected of a genuine antique piece and commensurate with age. The stem is brass. Lamp is unmarked apart from a model number on one of the feet(see image) I have seen this model before several times and they were both stamped with the'Taylor, Tunnicliffe& Cº' lozenge. Dimensions; lamp stands 17" tall to the top of the chimney and is around 7" across the base. With other patterns woven through out. I tried to take as many pics as possible to show the pattern. It is in good antique condition, no chips or cracks, all I see is some bubbles inside the glass and I am told that that is normal. The measurements are 6 3/4" tall and the top measurement is roughly 7 1/2" and of course the base is 4" It is really a beautiful Shade!

An antique Hinks oil lamp burner. It is a twin wick operated on one winder. On the ceramic disc is Hinks Duplex patent. On the bridge is Hinks& Son patent. This is a bayonet type. And a sealing cork washer is in place. All of the chimney fingers are in place, and there is no damage, but may have the odd mark. I have dismantled, cleaned, polished, lubricated, and reassembled, so now is very shinny and can be taken apart with ease. Just wicks required and away you go. I can supply used wicks if required.
