The base of the frame has ornamental urns with bellflower swags. There are geometric circles for contrast. The lamp base houses 4, bent, ribbed glass panels which are reverse painted in a rose or chrysanthemum motif. The base is lighted separately(functions independently) from the top of the lamp and operates with one standard bulb and a pull chain on/off switch. The center section of the lamp features 3 large figural putti. This trio act as the weight bearers for the large glass lamp shade. The opaline glass shade is a light tan color on the exterior and white on the interior. The glass is fairly thick and features a deeply swirled pattern. I received a message from the niece of Warren Kessler stating that it was not Cenedese because her uncles company produced all their own glass. She went back and researched company records and got back to me. She stated her initial statements were wrong and that Kessler's opaline glass was in fact imported from Cenedese. They did produce they're own high quality crystal) The glass is decorated with a simple gilt band at the top of the main body of the lamp. EXCELLENT CONDITION. the glass has no cracks. No chips and no damage of note other than some very minor ... moresurface scratches. There is patina from age to the brass sections. Overall this is an exceptionally clean example. I just picked up this Vintage Blue Opaque Opaline Milk Glass& Brass Eagle Table Lamp-barn fresh-It appears to be a lamp-but as you can see it will need to be rewired and I am not sure if there is a bulb socket inside the glass either.
