The etched EAPG font is in excellent original condition and the Don Juan cameo base has been restored. Pedestal has new white paint and I see one cameo is pronounced and clear while the other is faint and hard to see Don's hat feather. Also I see the narrow section of the pedestal was damage and put back together. I do not know what technic the person used to do this repair and he has passed on now. ART GLASS ETCHED AND DECORATED OIL LAMP TULIP SHADE, ART NOUVEAU, ARTS & CRAFTS
Up for auction is this rare art nouveau or arts& crafts tall tulip oil lamp shade. Stands approx 250mm. Ten inches tall, and 165mm max diameter. The base fitting is approx 87mm diameter, external, and 78mm internal. It fits a standard 88mm'porte globe' globe carrier found on many Kosmos type lamps, also Wizard and some small Vulkan burners. will also fit the 3&1/2 inch carriers found on some smaller burners. Main body is overall etched. With a 3 x repeated pattern of raised enamelled medallions and droppers in between. The thin green lines are in a very fine paint. Top frill is finished in a very pale' dusty' lime green finish with a slight irridescence to it, to simulate ancient roman glass that has been buried for 2,000 years. There are a couple of chips to the fitter base. And one flat flake to the edge of one frill ... morethat is hard to see, typical from use, worst is pictured. no other chips and NO CRACKS. A good beehive shade for an oil lamp having a ribbed effect moulded into the glass with a light cranberry applied finish and clear ban with an etched pattern. A what I believe to be Victorian oil lamp. It stands 23" 59cm) and is in good condition for its age. I think the main body is cast. not magnetic) is without damage, and on the inside of the base raised is 1831. The glass font is good with no damage. The burner has Hinks and sons on the side and there is 1 chimney finger missing. Both wicks will rise and fall, and one of the ceramic inserts has the writing worn. Presented for your consideration is this beautiful Victorian oil lamp. It features a diamond quilted font in the style of the Consolidated Lamp& Glass company. I have not identified the pattern-any help appreciated. The cased glass font is shaded green with colorful floral enamel detail. It has a Kosmos burner so perhaps European? The base is cast brass. I don't know if it is original to the lamp but looks very nice. The bottom is marked"L&L 6733" The lamp is topped with an exceptional art glass shade. It is frosted and shaded blue/green to clear with a very special"water lily" etching. The lamp measures 15" to the collar. The shade is 5" high. 7 1/4" across at the top and 2 1/2" at the fitter. The font and shade are in very good estate condition with no damage, wear or repairs noted. There ... moreis some minor oxidation on the brass-not excessive but mentioned for accuracy. Up for sale is an antique amber glass oil lamp that was converted long ago to a electric lamp. the glass is etched with flowers and vertical etched lines on the 6 paneled lamp. the glass section measures 9 1/4" tall at the tom metal rim that the socket is screwed into. It stands 12 1/2" tall at the edge of the top of the socket. this lamp has a screw in vintage HUBBELL Socket that is not working. It will need to be replaced or rewired. but if your buying it for a oil lamp then it is fine and all you need to do is unscrew the socket and replace it with a lamp head with wick. this lamp itself is in great condition no chips or cracks to the glass the shade is very unusual and is vintage. it has 2 tiny dings that can be scene inside the shade but do not show when displayed. the shade measures 8" tall by 10 1/2" across the ... morebottom opening. I tried to turn it on with 2 different light bulbs and it would not turn on, so the switch is bad or it needs to be rewired. it easily comes apart to work on and can be replaced with a standard socket the fitting will still work. Double Argand Brass Oil Lamp with Etched Shades c. 1850 Boston Luxury Retailer Jones. Lows& Ball Offered is this handsome antique double Argand brass oil lamp with an urn form fluid reservoir topped with a bud finial. It features a fluted tapered body which supports curved arms and burners on a square base. It features the original wheel cut clear glass shades which are etched in a pattern of medallions and intricate designs. The lamp measures 18 inches tall by 15 inches wide and 5 inches square at the base. This lamp was originally used with whale oil or vegetable oil. But has been electrified and is in good working order. Some of the fiber covering the wire is frayed. One of the three screws on one glass shade is missing. The shade is still secure with two. Both arm tubes have embossed brass labels reading. Jones, Lows& Ball, Boston, ... morea Boston jeweler and silversmith retailer in business in the mid 1800's. There is also a stamp on each arm ring with numbers and"USA. According to my research. This retailer is possibly the precursor of Shreves Jewelers. John Belknap Jones was an American silversmith& jeweler and was a partner from 1839 to 1846 with Francis Lows, John J. Lows and Trustworthy M. Ball in Boston, Massachusetts as JONES, LOWS& BALL. History of Argand lamps from Wikipedia: Argand lamps were invented and patented in 1780 by Swiss engineer Aime Argand. Designed to use either whale oil or vegetable oil. It was the lamp of choice until about 1850 when kerosene lamps were introduced. The Argand lamp was new to Thomas Jefferson in Paris in 1784, according to him gave off"a light equal to six or eight candles. These new lamps. ANTIQUE RAYO Nickel 1890's OIL LAMP ELECTRIFIED ETCHED GLASS GLOBE
This was an authentic antique 1890's pedestaled RAYO lamp which originally burned oil. Many of these old lanterns have had their nickel plating polished off revealing solid brass underneath; however this one still has the nickel plating on it therefore it has the silver color. This lamp was converted from oil by replacing the wick/burner with a socket and wiring it for electricity. The electric burner holds the glass chimney. The glass shade has flowers and leaves etched on it and has a ruffled rim. I took several pictures of the shade using differing backgrounds and angles in order to capture the etched design which was difficult for the camera to pick up. Be sure to look at all the pictures. The lamp with chimney measures 21" tall. The bottom base diameter is 6" The etched glass shade is 11 1/2" in diameter at the widest ... morepoint. Antique Astral oil lamp that was converted to electric. The decorative base is brass with parts of the gilding still there. It stands on a marble base 5 3/4" square. The frosted glass globe has engraved arches and flowers. It stands 24" tall. There are no chips or cracks to the shade. And the brass has no cracks. Please disregard my answer to the question asking if there were any prisms. Thanks to an Ebayer for noting that there originally were 12 prisms. The ring has twelve tiny holes to hold prisims. The moulding to the glass is exquisite at the bottom of the shade are two rows of internal convex circles. Above this the internal moulding appears to be in vertical segments following the shape of the shade. At the same time these are interspersed by clam shell type decoration coming down from the top apperture, really hard to explain and even harder to photograph! However the overall effect is very fluid and delightful in its design. It stands approximately 18.5cm high. The apperture of the base is 10.1cm. A 4" fitter. Condition overall is excellent and the shade is free ... morefrom any hairlines. A few bubbles in the glass commensurate with the age of the glass and manufacture. Beautiful 19thC Oil Lamp Etched Loop Font Brass Column Milk Glass Base 10 1/2"
Beautiful 19th century oil lamp with clear beaded paneled loop font with etched bell flower design. Brass column on opaque white milk glass base. It measures approx. 10 1/2" the font is just over 5" in diameter, the base is 4" square and the top fitting approx. just over 7/8" inside diameter. The lamp is in very good original condition with only normal use wear and will polish up great. Very tall. 14.5" to element and 22" including the chimney. I doubt the chimney is original. Very lovely lamp. Nice condition. Does have a couple rough edges on the bottom of the milk glass base but I think they are birthmarks. I see no chips with my glass. Chimney sits a tad crooked.
