It is mounted on a very ornate brass stand and dates from around the late 19th century(Napoleon III period) The'Kosmos' burner was produced by Wild& Wessel. A German manufacturer, between 1865 and 1899. The reservoir hasn't been tested and if you are likely to use this as an oil lamp, I strongly advise you to check that it doesn't leak before lighting it. The actual screw mechanism works well and is running freely; it is not showing any signs of blockage. It does not have its glass funnel although these are fairly easy to come by. There is a tiny bit of rust underneath the brass stand(see photos) ... moreThe pattern has been transfer printed onto the ceramic body and has then been hand coloured and then glazed. There is the same design on both sides of the lamp depicting cherubs/angels/putti/amours with a woodland floral theme. The lamp is plain brass with no writing on it but is unusual as it has a full sized wick without wadding in the tank. This allows significantly more light. A beautiful brass/bronze table lamp in the French Regency style. Heavy and ornate. It sits on a salmon colored marble base with 4 dolphin feet. All metal parts are non-magnetic. The body of the lamp is an urn with an ornate floral design on both the front and the back. The urn has two Greek Key handles. Measuring 7-1/2” from handle to handle. Above the urn is a brass column holding a plastic candle sleeve and ending in Levinton double sockets with pull chains. The rectangular marble base has a center brass medallion decorated with scrolls and an Acanthus leaf. The numbers 3. 10, 5, 4, and 7 have been scratched into the underside ... moreof the marble. The tall dolphin legs(3-1/2” high) are brass. The lamp is unmarked and age is not known; however. It is extremely well-made with fine craftsmanship. A fabulous estate find. It was described as antique French brass. The condition is great antique or vintage. In working order with very few issues. The brass does show some imperfections here and there. But it has not been cleaned. There are no dents or dings. The right corner of the marble on the base has been repaired and looks to be expertly done with no rough edges(photos#7 and#9) There is one small dark spot on the top of the marble by the brass connector(photo#9) There is a wear spot(photo#10) on one of the handles on the urn. French Brass Olympe (Pigeon) Oil Lamp
A lovely Olympe Brass pigeon type lamp. There are a couple of tiny dents on the body which is what you can rightfully expect for something around 100 years old. There are a couple of dents on the ring where the winder is and can be seen on photos. Looks like it may have been clamped in something at one time to get it open. The writing can be read but has slightly worn through polishing. The winder works perfectly well and will function if required. The cage is over the wick in the bottom. The glass is an original hand blown one and is very much thicker than the replacement ones and has one small bubble in it where it has been blown. These are very rare to find intact. You can see in the pics, its a pretty antiqued greenish color. The lamp shade has very light wear and light overall fade making it a lighter shade of red than it probably once was but when the lamp is on it shines a very pretty deep red. Height of lamp is 21" x 10" wide. Circumference of base is 7 1/4" Candles can be raised 13" without the shade in place. And about 9 1/2" with a shade. There is no shade included with this sale. This lamp is offered as found with original patina. The wiring and guts are NOT original. It is possible to use this lamp with candles by removing the wiring. I have made no attempt to repair it. These French Empire Bouillotte Lamps make excellent student. Study, library or den table lighting. The Hollywood Regency designers are using them now also in their spaces. This one is a nice. Clean triple candlestick brass base with brass shade and metal mesh diffuser two light lamp. Push button switch at base turns On/Off. Very clean, very few concerns. I'd date this one to the late 50s/early 60s with original wiring(old straight prong plug) A detailed dusting in the cracks and corners and the metal diffuser at the top of the shade has a slight bump in it that causes the finial to look askew. It just needs to be flattened between some heavy books for a few hours and it will take any tilt you see in the finial out. Absolutely no dents, scratches, dings or imperfections of any kind to the brass shade. 18.5" tall from table to top ... morerim of shade. And 22.5" to top of large finial. Offered for sale is a solid brass French-style cathedral candlestick lamp. It measures 22 1/2" tall. From the bottom to the bulb socket top-a shade will add another 12- 15 inches or so. The triangular base measures 8 1/2" at the widest point-from paw foot to paw foot. Each of the three sides has a different raised design-Hebrew letters on one side, the"sacred heart" sign on another, and three cherubs on the third. I believe this piece was originally cast as a lamp, and has not been converted from a candlestick, but I haven't examined it that closely. I'm selling it with no shade or finial, so you can make your own choice on style of each. The current shade doesn't merit the added expense of shipping. Featuring a decorated metal pedestal base and amber glass oil holder. The piece appears to have been in use until recently and has been photographed with the wick ... moreand fuel in place. This will be removed for shipping so the piece will come without a wick and with no fuel. Condition report: The wick mechanism is corroded and very dirty to the underside. But it appears to work well and fits to the top of the glass oil holder so the corrosion can not been seen when it is in use. The top rim of the glass holder has some chips as you would expect. Again, as this is at the point where it fits to the wick holder it cannot be seen. There is a split to the metal at the side of the wick holder which, while it could be visible on display, does not detract in any significant way. The glass spout to the top is most likely not the original but it fits correctly and suits the lamp well. The piece needs a very good clean! Sizes: 51cm(20.25 inches) tall. I believe it was likely made in France but England is another possibility(any help appreciated) The font and shade are bright green with very nice floral enamel decoration. The font has an acid-etched finish. The lamp has an original continental burner. It fits on a very nice brass candlestick. A proper chimney is included. The lamp measures 21 3/4" to the top of the chimney and 3 1/2" across at the base of the candlestick. There are no markings or other identification. It is in very good estate condition with no damage. Wear or repairs noted. The peg sits just a bit loosely in the holder which is often the case-not a problem but mentioned for accuracy. This French lamp is absolutely beautiful. It features a lovely hand painted romantic outdoor scene on porcelain. Of a young man and woman which is signed by the artist Bouche. The scene goes all the way around the entire body of the lamp. It is expertly painted with all the paint in tact, and no fading. The artist portrays lovers under a tree looking out at blue water with a tower and stone wall on the other side. The porcelain portion of the lamp sits on a beautiful brass base with no rust or stains. There is a deep cobalt porcelain pedestal and top which is decorated with a gold hand painted design. It is a true visual delight. There is a double light bulb socket which enables you to use 2 separate bulbs, each with its own pull chain. The original finial is also included. Vintage French Boudoir or Vanity Lamp Porcelain & Brass: Ballerina, Mint
This lovely French ballerina lamp is in mint condition and would be glorious in a French Country boudoir. It is petite: about 9-5/8" tall to the top of the socket and about 3-1/4" across the base. It is stamped on the underside of the base"Made in France" but gives no additional information. I found this gorgeous piece last weekend at an estate sale among some ordinary kitchen glassware and it is amazing that it is completely undamaged. The yellow rose and the girl are porcelain. The girl is made in exceptional detail with each tiny finger and each of the blooms in her bouquet so perfectly formed. Her tutu. I believe, is made of actual lace then treated with some protective substance. All of the porcelain is white except for the bodice of her dress, her hair and facial features, the bouquet, her slippers and two gold bands ... moreat the bottom of the figure which are hand painted. I am 99% certain that all the metal pieces are brass. The gold leaves and one yellow rose are the final touches needed to make this so typically French. The gold colored cord is cloth. In excellent condition and appears to be original to the lamp. The lamp works but since it is circa 1940s I am not sure it's safe by today's standards. There is no shade. This is a wonderful estate find and is being sold as is. I cannot guarantee that it has not been exposed to odors: smoking.
