Here for auction is a large bronze spelter Art Nouveau period figural table lamp.The beautifully sculpted figure appears to represent a 2nd Boer war soldier with bold. Determined facial features,and uniform with pith helmet indicative of this time period, 1900- 1920) Total ht. 26 in. The figure alone is 19 in. tall and sits on a 61/2" diameter wood base marked Germany The soldier is holding a flag in each hand although one arm has broken off cleanly as shown in the pictures.I have the intact arm and both flags. Other condition issues are bent vines that hold the wiring.Reeds are bent,and some minor wearing of the faux bronze paint.This has great patina and is a highly restorable piece. Both of them with attendants holding the horse's reins- on the left is a lady in an 18th century costume, riding side saddle and being aided by a liveried footman; on the right is a knight, in full regalia, being aided by a lesser knight who is in chainmail and a helmet. On the top is a lamp and below that is a round center medallion which has a repousse picture of ... morea castle in the medallion. Below the medallion is the word"Romance" in a ribbon cartouche. This is the type of decorative object that may have been made to come with or without a clock- and this is the rare model that came without the clock. Monumental Victorian Nouveau Bronze Patinated Spelter Figural Lady Newel Lamp
Offered for your consideration is a very large newel lamp of the finest quality formed by a neoclassical art nouveau lady lifting a vessel atop her head. From which 5 vines emerge with lighted flowers at their tips. She stands on a black wooden plinth. I suspect that the base metal is spelter, due to the weight, but perhaps it's bronze. The lamp is monumental in size, about 50 1/2" high by 16" wide. The piece is in remarkably good condition. It looks like portions of some leaves may be missing on the vines and around the sockets at the top. The only other possible flaw I see is a line across the base of the woman's toes on her left proper foot where they join her draped robe/gown. It may have been there from the time of casting. As it shows evidence of age. The wooden base shows a line from shrinkage over time, but is still ... morecompletely stable. The patination is lovely, with only minimal signs of wear, likely the result of a century of cleaning& polishing by previous owners. The wiring was recently professionally updated/replaced with fine silk cord and a new plug. I do not believe that the lamp originally had coordinating shades. Per se; I suspect that regular light bulbs were used. As its purpose was to provide useful illumination. Alternatively, a variety of old and reproduction bulbs& bulb covers are available from various sources, if you do not already have them and care for that"look" If you are the winning bidder. Exceptional art nouveau style figural bronze table lamp depicts a young boy in classical dress harvesting grapes with grape leaves and vines winding up the stem of the lamp. The ruffled glass shade is frosted variegated white. The ornate mold detail is very fine. It stands about 19" tall and is in excellent condition with no damage. Pressed glass font with fascinating pattern of starts and reindeer, glass chimney with beautiful hand painted pink glass shade showing wonderful image of flowers. Converted to electric through the top only so none of the base parts were drilled. Measures overall about 21 1/2" tall to the top of the chimney, the base alone is 10 1/2" tall and 4 1/2" square; the boy alone is 4 1/2" tall. He looks bronze but more likely a cast spelter metal with the original gold finish. Not marked but absolutely guaranteed a genuine antique 1890 era lamp. Fabulous Antique Figural Birds Lamp Base For Slag Leaded Glass Shades Bronze Ish
Up for sale is this fabulous antique lamp base. Featuring a pair of long necked birds(I believe cranes? on either side. Wonderful detail work, the lamp has a bronze finish, I don't think it is solid bronze, but it is quite heavy and does not attract a magnet. I believe the top hardware is replaced, but both pulls are working smoothly. You will need hardware to attach a shade. There are no cracks, or breaks. You can see the mold line running through the feathers toward the bottom, and there is some finish wear, including a spot that looks like a paint drip. This a fabulous and extremely rare form, unfortunately it is not signed to identify a maker, but it was definitely done in the era of Tiffany, Handel, Pittsburgh and the other fine makers of that time. This lamp is beautiful for any cat lover or Art Deco collector! Pictures speak for themselves. And the lamp is stamped. Has all lamp shade screws and cats head is held on by 2 screws- All look to be original. Lamp shade is in near perfect condition, with one tiny chip you can't even see until you take the lamp off and look under(see 2nd to last picture) No chips even where the lamp shade screws go in. Lamp is wired but I don't think it's the original wiring. But it works great! Bronze could use a cleaning, it has some small white spots on it that seem to come off with your fingernail, and typical bronze wear, but given it's unknown age and that I am not an bronze expert, I figured leave the decision of cleaning it or not up to the buyer. This is a stunningly rare antique 19th century Victorian silver-plated bronze oil parlor lamp. Form and attention to subtle detail is second to none. The young nude woman is embracing a large shell that holds a candle. The interior shows a bolted together bronze work of art.meaning it was cast in pieces.complicated. with a focus on overall design and attention to detail with notions of design based on economy and efficiency in mass production being secondary. French Figural Tole Peinte Bronze Bouillotte Lamp Serpents Dolphins Caldwell era
Up for consideration is a vintage Peinte Tole and Bronze figural French Empire style Bouillette Lamp. The lamp is unmarked but dates from about 1910 or so. It stands 26.5 inches tall by about 13.5 inches at its widest point. The piece sports finely cast figural Dolphins as arms with tripodal footed hairy pawed feet. The finial is a round finely cast circular floral wreath. The spreader or shade holder supports are also figual serpent or snake heads. Usually things that are not marked tend to be pre 1891. It possible this lamp dates late 1880's if it was made in France. Hence no"Made in France" as customary with these style of lamps. The fixture has been completely re-wired for American standards and new ceramic insulators added as well. Normally we would see this light with frosted glass floral shades and they can be added as well. The handsome young man standing besides the light is 51 inches tall which gives you an indicator of scale. The chandelier weighs in at over 300lbs and is quite remarkable in that each piece is very realistically cast and has a gold dore(plated) finish. The threaded rods are 16" long. And are threaded on both ends. Each rod has a brass cap on one end. The goddess posts are open on the bottom, and the medium sized flared pieces are open on the bottoms as well. I am not sure how these parts are supposed to attach together, or if everything is complete. This lot is simply being sold as a parts lot for you to make a REALLY dashing set of Grecian lamps. One finial pair was painted a terracotta color. As shown in the photos. All other items seem to have their original gold/brass/bronze finish. Antique H. J. Peters Bronze Figural Lamp
This is a fine lamp by the HJ peters company Chicago Illinois from the 1914 catalog. The base is very heavy and looks to be bronze probably over some type of metal. The shade is original and in very nice condition the edges of the shade where it sits on the lamp have tiny little chips missing probably from taking the shade on and off of the lamp. Good light itself works good with the chain pool. Please look at pictures and ask questions no returns.
