The box has Maker's Mark for William Comyns. This box is relatively large and heavy. Weighing 144.5 grams. The box has a hinged lid which opens from one of the short ends exposing the entire interior. We suspect that it is a cigarette box. The lid of the box has a high relief design depicting an unknown castle on top of a hill with mountains and a water body in the background and a house at the bottom of the hill where the castle is sitting. There are trees and a picket fence. The sky on top of the scene has light imprints of circular shape suggesting the sun? clouds? Just a great design with fine details, just look at the trees, the bridge, and the water below it. The sides of the box are decorated with a nice scroll design, while the bottom of the box is plain and smooth. The edges of the box are toothed or variegated giving the box a very mice appearance. The piece is relatively larger in size than usual cigarette boxes are and as we indicated weighs quite a bit. The interior of the box is plain except that the back of the lid shows the design in reverse. It is very clean and shiny. Just a great and wonderful antique that very seldom comes by having excellent details. Unfortunately we do not know which castle is depicted on the lid. Please view photos as they are part and parcel of our description. Date: 1883. Origin: London England. In the United Kingdom. Size: Measures ~3" by ~4" and is 11/16" deep. The etched EAPG font is in excellent original condition and the Don Juan cameo base has been restored. Pedestal has new white paint and I see one cameo is pronounced and clear while the other is faint and hard to see Don's hat feather. Also I see the narrow section of the pedestal was damage and put back together. I do not know what technic the person used to do this repair and he has passed on now. The frosted shade has a very nice Rose type flower pattern. Very old looking. Its about 18" long as hanging. The Single frosted glass crystal type shade is about 4.25" tall and just over 7" wide across bottom. Has a pull string chain on the knuckle. Needs new string and recommend getting the wires checked. All sconces feature what appears to be original wiring with original Ratner sockets and a switch on plate. There is a wall screw hole in middle of each sconce on wall plate. Which is, AWMP CO. 552" and I think that mark is for the metal base part only. Each Lamp body is made of a porcelain or china material, with a flower decoration. I would guess the flowered design bodies were likely made in France, Germany or another European Company. The Lamps came from the estate of the original owner, have been well cared for, and even have the original matching Finials, I am not positive but these hand painted finials are likely made of wood. Each Lamp has the same Flower designs on the front and back. If you look closely at my photos, the flower designs on the front side of the lamps is more elaborate, than the backside, where the electric cords come ... moreout. The electrical sockets and cords look to be likely original, and seem to be in fine working condition. Like all oil lamps, it gives a beautiful soft light that adds atmosphere to any room. This is a really striking and attractive lamp in fantastic condition with a very unusual coloured font that graduates from deep turquoise to milky white. The font has no chips or cracks and is decoratively moulded in a basketwork design. The elegant upright stand is spelter. I think, with the look of bronze, and the base is shiny black ceramic. These lamps came from a estate sale 6 years ago. The lamps both work as seen in the one picture. Lamps have the old cord that should be replaced. The lamps have 3 very unusual beautiful crystal Glass Pieces. The top and bottom Crystal glass have round glass with a quilt like patch work look and very detailed small pearl like cut glass beads that cross back and forth in the pattern. Each Crystal glass stands out and you can feel the different shapes almost like 3-D. The middle Crystal Glass Diamond like shape is also very detailed.With the crystal pearl like design traveling from the top to the edge and under the Diamond shape Crystal Glass. These would both be hand made and so are very slightly different in size. The condition of both is good with a few very small nibbles around the inside of the base and one does have a ding on the top edge of the yellow and the other is fine. The most beautiful antique victorian cherub lamp! c. 1920* This beautiful antique cherub lamp is 18 inches high and 6 inches wide at the base. The lamp has been rewired and has a brass pull chain socket with a fancy blue glass pull on the end of the chain. The fancy pierced brass shade ring is decorated with 30 strands of crystal lustres. The lamp has a gold finish. I used a short round standard watt light bulb in this lamp which doesn't extend down beyond where the crystals end.
