These look like they are possibly brass or copper but they are neither. Both are iron with thick glass inserts. If you want to use these you can pick up odorless, sootless, smokeless lamp oil at any hardware store. Remove the burners at the bottom of the lanterns, unscrew the top, put in lamp oil and you are good to go. Kerosene will work as well but tends to be kind of stinky. These were made in Hong Kong (you can tell by the burners) though I’m not sure exactly when. Lanterns will be individually bubble wrapped and securely packed in a box for shipping.

Whale Oil Lamp 1850's New England A nice antique whale oil lamp with cobalt blue base and crystal. The lamp is in nice condition and measures 8 1/2 inches in height with a 4 5/8 inch diameter base. The opening at the top of the lamp measures 1 1/4 inches outside diameter. The condition appears to be very nice with no chips or cracks. The only area of notice is the base.where the cobalt and crystal meet.there is cloudiness on the interior.may be a result of the application of the base to the top. This is an estate purchase from a noted collector. I would doubt the piece has ever been repaired.but I am not certain. There was a paper inside the lamp when purchased.it is pictured but states the lamp is 1850's or earlier with a drop burner style probably made in Boston and the etching done by copper wheel engraving. RARE DEFRIES SAFETY CENTRE DRAUGHT OIL LAMP, SEPULCHRE PATENT, WORKING ORDER
Up for auction is this Rare'Defries Safety Lamp' made incorporating Sepulchres patent. it is a centre draught lamp and was widely described in Victorian books on oil lamps and fuels as an example of a really safe centre-draught oil lamp. The safety features are. Heavy all metal construction, a burner with no vents through to the fount, a substantial gauze in the burner top between the flame and the rest of the burner, and a metal tube around the outside of the wick, fixed to the burner. This example proves the type. Considerably heavier metal than most similar centre draught lamps. It is in the form of a drop in fount, which sits in a matching, ventilated cup, on a glossy black English ceramic base. All this extra metalwork and manufacture raised the cost a lot. These were expensive, making them less common to start with. The metal ... moretube around the outside of the wick adds problems, it is ribbed, as is the inner draught tube. It is very easy for the wick to get twisted up as the burner is screwed in and out(many threads of course for security) and jam between the 2 tubes. This leads to failures due to force being used. The lamp takes an unusual sized chimney. About 3mm smaller than the usual 2&1/2 inch centre draught. As these are not available, folks jam in an ordinary chimney, and the chimney grip fingers are often broken, also tops and flamespreader get lost. Wick is a funny size. This one is in good condition. there are no chips or cracks to the black pot base. The brass foot and'pot' are clean. And without cracks or dents. stands straight. The fount is a perfect, snug, fit in the pot. There is one small thumb sized dent in the bottom edge of the fount. hidden in use because it is in the pot. No cracks, perishing, other dents or splits to the fount. Fount holds oil with no leaks. Has correct, distinctive, filler plug. The black engraved glass insert to the winder knob has a fine crack across it, but the 2 halves are not about to drop out! The flamespreader has lost about 1/4 of an inch from

Here is a wonderful circa 1850's tall brass 3-burner whale oil lamp with its original dark patina. It measures 25 1/2" tall x 6 1/4" wide at base. It is in all original condition with a crack in the brass to the lid of the burner(see pictures) It has one loose candle snuffer that was found inside. Old original Victorian small table oil lamp. This is a very high quality oil lamp. The yellow to white frosted glass font has no cracks. No chips, no holes and is the same quality of Mt. Washington Glass Co. The brass is thick, heavy weight and very little wear. It about 10" tall to the top of the collar, 19" to the top of the chimney, the font is about 4" wide and the base is 3 1/2" wide. Antique Fostoria GWTW Hand Painted Cosmos Flowers(I believe) Oil Lamp Base Cast iron foot is marked" FG" 617" If there is no bid in the first 24 hours we WILL put a reserve on it or END the auction. This GWTW oil lamp base is in great condition! See all pictures as they are part of our description! It measures approx 10 1/2" to the top of the brass rim. The cast foot is approx 6" square. The widest part of the font is approx 7 1/2" wide(at the two feathery leaf designs sticking out on the sides) The inside of the base. Where an oil pot sits(not included) is 4 3/4" in diameter by 3" deep. The glass base/font is in great shape and the colors include greens. Yellows, pinks and a touch of brown accents. There are some dirty spots and possibly some fading. It might come out nicer with a deeper cleaning and ... morepolishing, but will leave that up to the high bidder. I basically dusted it for pics. There are four seams on this glass font. The foot and the front/back don't line up squarely and you can see this in the first four pictures of the front and sides. There are raised feathery/leafy designs in the glass at the top and bottom edges and on the two sides. The two sides have a slightly different feathery/leafy design. There is also a wide swirled rib pattern in the glass. I believe the flowers are Cosmos flowers. Or something similar. I can see some heavy swirls in the glass. Which adds nice character. There are no cracks on this base. But I do see a chip which is on the rim where the oil pot liner sits, although the liner does not cover this rim very well. It could be possible this is not the original liner. The oil pot liner has some wear and some light surface rust. But that is usual for these old lamps. It is magnetic, so it is not brass. Has the usual bubbles, straw marks, and base wear. Mold roughness, small nicks and small flat flakes along the edge of the base. Two internal bruises on the base. Antique Victorian Duplex Brass Double Student Oil Lamp Electric Original Globes
Hi. You are bidding on the most beautiful lamp. It is a Duplex student oil lamp that was converted to electric. You can see by the cord and plug that it is one of the oldest electric lamps you will ever see. It has been tested and did work when I bought it but the cord is super old. I would get a second opinion before you use the cord. The globes are LOVELY and even more beautiful in person. They are in good condition with no nicks or cracks. The globes measure approximately ten inches across at the bottom and 4.5 inches or so on the top. The entire lamp is 27 inches when measured from base to top of chimneys. I believe the chimneys are also original in that they look like old glass and they are the exact measurements of the original chimneys. One of the chimneys has some roughness around the base where it goes into the metal but it is not ... morechipped. If you collect these antique lamps. I think you are going to love this one. There are problems, but minimal. I see that there is one lamp socket that is sort of tipped to one side. There is some difficulty getting the round base for the chimney into the larger frame for the glass globe. But I think that all of these issues are probably just a part of owning a lamp like this. this is a very rare antique copper and brass converted oil lamp. it has exquisite ornate victorian design. With very intense detailing. it has highly embossed copper designs that run around the base of the lamp. it has beautiful trim. Base and feet. the upper oil container is a large insert. Bradley& Hubbard Oil Lamp_ Wonderful Victorian table lamp made by the famous lampmaking firm of Bradley& Hubbard. At some point the lamp was converted for electricity but still has its original resevoir cap. The lamp is marked with the original patent applied for and received dates of August 30. 1892 and December 31,1895. This particular nickel plated model was quite popular in its day. A wonderful piece of functional Victoriana. Cap is marked B&H. Size: Approximately 12" tall Date: 1890s Condition: Overall very good condition. Spotting to the nickel throughout and a few small dings and dents commensurate with age. I have not tested the electrical mechanism and highly suggest that the lamp be rewired. ORNATE BRASS ANTIQUE OIL KEROSENE STUDENT LAMP MILLER? FOR RESTORATION
Sorry. No International Shipping. Please note that our photos are below the item description. This antique student lamp is in need of restoration. It has been electrified at some time in the past. Luckily the wire came out of the burner section and no other holes or alterations were made in the lamp. In the 5th row of photos you can see the slight separation in the ribbing at the bottom where the wire came out. Other minor problems are there is some solder at the top of the oil tank with some very minor metal fatigue at the top. There is a dent on the inside of the oil tank also shown in the 5th row of photos. Obviously the burner has also been altered. There are no other dents. Splits or damages on the lamp. The lamp is made of solid brass(except for the weight in the base) and would polish up beautifully if that was your desire. Although ... morewe cannot find any maker's mark we believe the lamp to be made by the Miller Lamp Company. It stands 21 1/2" tall, is 14 1/2" wide and weighs 8 1/2 pounds. Antique Victorian kerosene oil lamp chandelier light fixture cranberry red shade
Spectacular late 19th century pulley kerosene/oil chandelier. Stunning red glass with slight swirl. This light has been electrified and in that process an additional Victorian era lamp canopy was added so this is READY TO INSTALL TO A JUNCTION BOX! The light was also repainted in a period appropriate rich gilt. The pulley action was not altered and it still works(though the wiring will bunch up if you pull on it) No damage to the shade. The cranberry red glass ball shade is 9" wide.

ANTIQUE SPELTER SCULPTURE GREYHOUND WHIPPET DOG OIL LAMP EAGLE GLASS SHADE 32"
We are pleased to offer this very special lamp. Dating to the 1880s. This beautiful lamp is truly an art piece. It features a large or ornate cast iron base with either pewter or silver plate hardware just above. Seated in the mid section of the lamp is a wonderful spelter Greyhound or Whippet dog sculpture. This beautiful piece is nicely detailed and the collared dog is gorgeous. He is seated upon a pewter or silver plate piece which is incised and resembles a cobblestone or bricked surface. A lall and slender brass column is positioned behind the dog and attached the lamp base to the brass oil reservoir. The brass reservoir is large. It has a few minor dings but is in good condition. There is a area on the upper section which is opened and does not have a cover(see picture 9) I am not sure what this is. The original font has been replaced, ... moreprobably when the lamp was converted. However, it would be very easy to return the lamp to oil burning if you so desired. The lamp has a beautiful, golden yellow shade with Eagle and Star pattern. It is very nice with some minor wear. This lamp is quite rare and exceptional. It is in overall wonderful condition but it does have some minor signs of age and use. It is a gorgeous piece of 19th century art! The lamp is quite large. It measures 24" to the top of the burner. The dog sculpture is 7" tall. The lamp is 32" tall with the shade attached. The shade is 8" tall with a 10" fitter measurement. The lamp base is 9" in diameter.
