Pair of Art Deco Reverse Painted Glass Shade Lamps, Native American Theme
For sale is a Pair of Art Deco Reverse Painted Glass Shade Lamps. The lamps are made of spelter(pot metal) and in very good condition. There is a Native American theme going on with a seated Indian Chief in feathered head dress atop each lamp and an Indian Brave profile on each side of the lamp bases. The lamps each measure 15 inches high to the top of the Chief's headdress and the bases measure 6 inches square. The glass shades are unbroken and reverse painted with what appears to be flower baskets and flowers. The paint is cracked probably due to age. The lamps themselves are unmarked. Beautiful Old Antique Miller Lamp- signed on socket with ornate scrolles on oval shape Brass Base. Cyclinder is enclosed with borders of designs in Brass. Reverse glass hand paint is of house with red roof and pine trees by ocean with beach. Side to side width of cylinder is 9 inches. Oval base at longest is about 8 inches. Height is 8.5 inches. Small possible hairlines seen on one side of glass- not on the backside. Unnoticeable unless carefully looking as they merge into a textured glass. Some paint loss on interior. Condition could be considered very good. As no chips. Cracks, flea bites etc. Pull Chain off and on. Lamp is in good working order.

From a very prominent Hampton N.Y. estate sale we bring you this wonderful reverse painted pink glass shade. Sorry for the glare in the photos the glass with the exception of the painted art is pink. This is one of two that was in the hallway ceiling of an older large home. Would work on a lamp also. Find no damage has patina from being old and will need soap and water. Approx 5 1/4" tall top opening diameter approx 2 1/8" outside rim. Bottom opening inside 6 1/4" diameter. These are old you can tell the older glass making minor uneven spots from manufacture are present. The shade may be older than I am calling it late 19th early 20th century. C. 1910- 1920s. The lamp stands 17" tall, and retains all of its original parts, with the exception of the cord as the piece has recently been rewired. It features windmills and houses, with an interesting pink background. It is especially well painted, and in excellent condition. There is some general roughness to the upper and lower rims, but this is due to the method of cutting, and are not chips or flaws. The paint is in excellent condition, free of scratches, chipped paint, or heat scorching. The base appears to be made of brass, and there is some age-related uneveness to the patina, but nothing distracting. The shade measures 7.5" in diameter, and the lamp is ready for immediate use. The company sold lamps in bulk to utility companies in large cities who retailed them to their customers. A 1920 Philadelphia Electric Co. catalog shows lamps with prices from $12.50 to $60, depending on size. All the lamps are described as being“cast metal openwork” over“light amber art glass” and could be ordered in a variety of metal finishes including French brown, Grecian antique, Etruscan bronze and Florentine relief. While lamps were made with glass in colors other than amber. Or caramel as it is often called now, amber predominates. Antique Art Deco Miller Lamp Co. Reverse Painted Lamp Base & Satin Shade #232
This auction features an antique bronzed Miller Lamp and shade. This lamp has been in one families possession since it was acquired new back in the late 1920’s(Or maybe the early 1930’s. The owner cannot remember exactly) The bronzed base stands 20 ½ inches tall and has a nice authentic patina. The base features alternating panels with tulips and a stylized art deco design. The base is signed on the bottom as pictured and retains all of the original bronzed finish. The cord is a replacement cloth cord. The shade which is original to this lamp is a satin glass shade with an attractive reverse painted scene which completely surrounds the shade. The shade measures 15 inches in diameter. Stands 8 inches tall, and has a 3 ¼ inch fitter. There are a few condition issues needing mentioned. The first and in my opinion the worst of the issues ... moreis a loss of original finish. There are 4 areas where this has happened, and I have pointed all four for one to evaluate. Here is the story I was told on this issue, and I tend to believe it. The original owner liked the way that the canopy of the lamp had areas where the red-toned sky was lighter is depth. Making it look like a clouds. She liked this so much, she decided to scratch off areas on the shade to make it resemble clouds as well. I am certain this can be restored, and it does look like clouds, but I think if I were to keep this, I would have it restored. The second condition issue is two small chips on the edge of the shade. These are small. We have shown them in comparison with a pencil point for one to evaluate. These are on the flat ground surface and does not affect the profile but mentioned for accuracy. There is the typical roughness around the fitter, but these are covered when the original cap and finial are placed on the shade. All in all. A nice survivor.

Gorgeous antique Bradley& Hubbard style Arts& Crafts/Mission era reverse painted mountain scene ribbed glass lamp. This is an absolutely stunning lamp that is tested and working wonderfully. There is an ornate design decorating the shade along the top. The light bulb will not be included in the shipment. There is some paint wear to the inside of the reverse painted glass shade. There are various areas along the cast pieces of the shade that have been repaired or soughtered. There are some breaks. As well, I'm including one small piece that broke off, but didn't picture it. Please examine the pictures closely, as they show the condition better than can be described. This piece is not marked. Up for your consideration is a Fine Antique Reverse-Painted Lamp. C. 1910- 1920s. The lamp stands 15" tall and the shade is 7" across. It retains all of its original parts minus the bulb, including the original cord and plug. The cord is frayed to the wire in spots but I did plug it in to show that it still lights perfectly. It features windmills and stone houses with mountains and trees in the background. It is especially well painted, and in excellent condition. There are no cracks or flaws. The paint is in excellent condition, free of scratches or heat scorching. There is a tiny paint chip on the inside edge of the shade. I have included this in the photos for you to see. Reverse painted lamp shades became popular around 1890-1910. The art of reverse painting can be traced back centuries. Particularly in Renaissance Italy where the process was admired and utilized to produce miniatures of religious subjects. As time moved on artisans from Austria and Poland perfected this skill, and some of those artisans were amongst the millions of immigrants who came to the United States in the late 1800's. The art of the reverse painted lamp shade became extremely popular in the United States. There were several distinguished companies that are generally associated with this process. Manufacturers such as Pairpoint. Handel, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, and Jefferson created beautiful ... morelamps in their time. THE LISTED LAMP: There is no makers mark found on this lamp. When lit it gives off a beautiful multi-colored glow. Highlighted by the pink ribbon drapery effect around the shade's corners and edges. Each of the four sides of the shade are different depictions of people engaged in different activities. The lamp itself is cast metal that has been finished in a brass color. The lamp measures 21" to the top of the finial. The shade is 13 1/4" square at the bottom corners. And it is about 6 1/4" high from the center of the bottom"drapes. And about 4 7/8" high at the corners. The lamp and shade combined weigh 12.0 pounds. CONDITION: There is some brass finish loss to the lamp. And a tiny crack in the pole metal as seen in photograph# 9. This does not affect the stability of the piece at all and it cannot be seen unless the shade is taken off and one looks very close. This is a nice looking and all original clean intact condition Art Deco era electric table lamp from the 1920-30s-boudoir style accent lamp with original hand painted glass shade.its base is marked with a logo HR and crest design and has a chrome plated finish that has some surface wear and peeling chrome. in good overall structural condition with no damages or excessive wear-it has surface wear to the metal.the original glass shade has a reverse painted scene with trees.Stream etc.the shade has a small chip on top edge that is covered with a metal cap and doesnt show.the base needs cleaning and the wiring is clean and intact.overall size is 17" high.no makers name or marks.looks and displays well and is guaranteed original and authentic.Shipping is via USPS in US and overseas…always glad to combine on multiple buys when possible

The lamp is a striking piece of 1920s era lighting with a handsome ornate base decorated with brightly painted leaves and acorns. The shade is a lovely example of vintage Czech art glass. The shade features an intricate impressed pattern of flourishes and arabesques. Backed by a mauve reverse painted surface on the upper half; the edge of the shade is superbly decorated with a reverse painted border of finely detailed leaves connected by a vine or ribbon. The lamp features two screws at the bottom and top of the neck which allow the shade angle to be adjusted. Antique Art Deco Reverse Painted Glass Panel Boudor or Table Lamp
I have a wonderful boudoir or end table lamp. It is comprised of three curved glass panels that have scenes painted on the interior of the glass. They look to be of Asian gardens but 50 to 60 percent of the paint is missing so tough to tell. The outside of the glass is ribbed giving it a watery look and the cast metal has applied gold paint. Very ornate design with minor loss of paint to the exterior. Some darkening to the interior, top mostly, and the paint loss issue. Cord and plug has no switch, it just lights up when you plug it in. About 12" tall over all, 10" when top cap is removed and 4.25" diameter at its widest. Thanks for looking.

DESCRIPTION- This is an excellent reverse painted lamp by Phoenix Studios c1920. I always like pieces like this that cross the line between art nouveau and art deco. It has a beautifully simple floral decor that scrolls over a soft white background. The base has art deco lines but retains its naturalistic form like a machine that grew from the ground. No chips or cracks in the glass. Lamp is in good working condition. It has a few fleabites where the glass touches the shade rest but are not noticeable. Great overall patina.
