Monumental Victorian Nouveau Bronze Patinated Spelter Figural Lady Newel Lamp
Offered for your consideration is a very large newel lamp of the finest quality formed by a neoclassical art nouveau lady lifting a vessel atop her head. From which 5 vines emerge with lighted flowers at their tips. She stands on a black wooden plinth. I suspect that the base metal is spelter, due to the weight, but perhaps it's bronze. The lamp is monumental in size, about 50 1/2" high by 16" wide. The piece is in remarkably good condition. It looks like portions of some leaves may be missing on the vines and around the sockets at the top. The only other possible flaw I see is a line across the base of the woman's toes on her left proper foot where they join her draped robe/gown. It may have been there from the time of casting. As it shows evidence of age. The wooden base shows a line from shrinkage over time, but is still ... morecompletely stable. The patination is lovely, with only minimal signs of wear, likely the result of a century of cleaning& polishing by previous owners. The wiring was recently professionally updated/replaced with fine silk cord and a new plug. I do not believe that the lamp originally had coordinating shades. Per se; I suspect that regular light bulbs were used. As its purpose was to provide useful illumination. Alternatively, a variety of old and reproduction bulbs& bulb covers are available from various sources, if you do not already have them and care for that"look" If you are the winning bidder. I want you to be thrilled with the purchase. Returns, however, will not be accepted, due to the high costs(and risk of damage) incurred when shipping fragile valuable items back and forth. These pieces date to around the 1860s. The lamps have wonderful ornate scroll and foliate designs around the base and shaft, very detailed and well cast. The bottom join shows where they have been cut away from the stem connecting to the feeder tubes. The stub remaining measures only about 1/8 inch. The brass finial from one of the fonts is missing. They measure about 5 1/2 inches in height. The maximum diameter is 4 inches. Their combined weight is about 4 lbs. The condition is fair.

Antique 26" Bronze Patinated Newel Post signed Lamp With Rare Art Glass Shades
I have seen lots of figural newel post style lamps but this one with the art glass shades is over the top. The shades are pink at the opening and fade back to clear. I put some awesome colored lights on it the darken the shade colors and makes this lap radiant. And what a great subject. The farm girl feeding the chicks. Oh my! Signed by Aristide de Ranieri. There is just the statue for sale by another ebay seller. Item number 191259301040. For more than my starting price. This piece dates from around 1890 to 1910. This piece is made of bronze patinated spelter as 95% of the newel post lamps are made. Measures 26" tall and about 21" to the top of the girls head. An excellent larger item.
