Up for auction is a original Segar Studio Bronze Desk Lamp designed by the famous metalsmith Oscar Bruno Bach. The lamp was made in 1923-1924 and is stamped"The Segar Studios. N Y" underneat of the inkwell base. It has a developed a beautiful bronze patina over time. An intricate pattern of flowers is incorporated into this Art Deco period design. The lamp is fully functional but missing one of the bottom inkwell covers. Made of solid bronze the lamp measures 16 1/2 inches in height and 14 inches across the shade, and weights approximately 40 lbs. I was informed that desk lamps by this maker are more difficult to find. The estimated apprasied value is between $800-$1200. The bronze part of the lamp excluding the socket measures just under 12.5 inches tall by 7 inches in diameter. The lamp is 22 inches tall overall. It does not have a cord and will need to be rewired. Antique Original Cast Iron Painted Oscar Bach Style Table Lamp c. 1900-1940
This is an exceptional table lamp in the style of Oscar Bach(1884-1957) He was a master of metalwork who came to Germany in 1911 to New York. He was one of the most noted figures in the field of decorative arts in the first half of the 20th century. Oscar Bach was commissioned by many wealthy individuals. And also did custom work for the Empire State Building, Yale University and the Procurement Division of the U.S. Treasury Division, among others. This lamp has no known makers marks on it. It is made primarily of cast iron and has a possible faux mica type finish on the enclosed shade. It appears to be all original( the underside of the lamp shade may have been painted or it may be the original paint) There appears to be no repairs, damage or missing parts. The lamp is in very good working condition. It could have been used in many different ... moreplaces such as a bank or in a hotel/ motel setting. I believe it to be from the early 1900s to the 1940s. I have had several other pieces of Oscar Bach that were not signed. Each torchiere measures 70 1/2" to top of candleholder. 67" to top of metal finial, base measures 9" Each one has a different animal in center. They are bronze and iron with alabaster base. The alabaster is chipped from usage, no cracks. One is missing a bottom finial below candlestick. See pics. Needs rewiring. Rare to find a pair of these. Up for sale is a beautiful Art Deco style lamp base. It has the hole for the switch on the bottom side, and it is ready for bulb holder to be installed and then wired. It is 7 1/4 inches high. 2 1/4 across the top, and the base is 6 inches across. This is an early Oscar B. Bach Studios piece, as it has the brass makers name on the bottom. It looks like it has four Toucans or some type bird around the middle. Finished this would be a $1500.00 piece or more. But you can buy it now at a great price.
