Antique Victorian Chinese Or Japanese Lamps-Lion Head Feet W/Gods-Candlestick
Hello. You are viewing my auction for a pair of Antique Victorian Style Chinese Or Japanese Table Lamps. I am unsure of the country of origin or the year that these lamps were made. Each lamp has a Lions Head Footed Base With an angry demonic looking God in the center. The top of each lamp has a Candlestick style electric bulb. It is made to give the appearance of a candlestick. The lamps are in perfect working condition. There is no on/off switch on them. The only way to turn them on and off is to plug them in or unplug them. Each lamp weighs 5 pounds and measures 18 and 3/4" tall up to the top of the bulb socket. They each are 6 and 1/2" across at the base. There is some wear to the lamps as well as four hairline splits in the metal. I am unsure of the exact metal that these lamps were made from. The one electrical cord is longer ... morethan the other. Presented for your consideration is this handsome vintage wall sconce. I believe it was made in England likely in the first quarter of the twentieth century. The cast brass( fixture features a finely detailed lion's head. The beast holds a ring that supports the beautiful art glass shade. It is canary opalescent in a stripe pattern. The glass has an intense uranium glow under a black light. My thought is that the maker was John Walsh Walsh. The sconce measures 14" long overall and 5 1/4" across. ANTIQUE CONSOLIDATED GLASS GWTW PUFFY LION HEAD HP ROSE LAMP ELECTRIFIED WORKS
This fine antique GWTW Lamp has glass parts that were made by Consolidated Glass of Pittsburgh. They have Puffy Lion's Heads and the electrified lamp can be lit with top only. Bottom only or top and bottom at the same time. The glass shade and bottom were also hand painted with Roses. The metal base is white metal with a brass finish. On the underside of the metal base is F10 embossed on the metal. It could be a Pittsburgh Lamp, just do not know for sure. I believe the lamp was re-wired in the 50's and the cord and electrical parts have been checked. Just a super antique Gone With the Wind Lamp.
