8 ANTIQUE BRASS LIGHT SOCKETS w/LAMP SHADE FITTERS PERKINS CO. PAT JUNE 13 1899
This listing is for 8 solid brass light socket with a 3 1/4" lamp shade fitters and 13" of chain link including the attachments. One of the 3 1/4" fitters has a disconnected rivet and will need a new rivet replacement. The sockets all have bakelite tune knob switches with PERKINS stamped on them, also each one is stamped with a PAT'D date June 13 1899. The sockets are in excellent condition for there age, no cracks deep scratches or dents and they were never opened for rewiring. Sockets have bin tested before original wires were cut off, do to wiring insulation loss it was not safe to leave them on. Art Deco 4-Light Pan Chandelier P&S Sockets Vintage Lighting Fixture Needs TLC
We recently went to an auction that had great 1880s-1930s lighting fixtures. Lamps, etc. We know that some of them came from west central Ohio homes that were built during Ohio's railroad boom(most people don't think of Midwest railroad barons, but we had'em) We'll be listing these over the next couple of weeks. Unlike much of what we got at this sale. The finish on this chandelier looks like it's about 100 years old. The bobeshes are a little bent, and it needs to be rewired. However, all of the pieces are there, and all of the metal seems sound. It's a typical Art Deco. Neoclassical 4-light chandelier. The fixture's about 19" in diameter. It hangs down about 34. Great size for dining areas, living rooms, salons. It has 4 old P& S sockets. We're not sure if this fixture was made to have globes. Electric ... morelights were considered“exciting” about this time. And many fixtures featured bare bulbs because they were intriguing. The hardware stores have some“crystal” light bulbs out now that keep the bulb-only authenticity, and look attractive to modern eyes. This piece needs TLC. Please see the pictures. The 2 brass sockets I can't see maker for the paint, the turn knob is good with good switch and guts. The hanging socket is missing the guts and push switch, both undented. A book I have dates set 842 to 1940 and shows a different plug on the cord. So I am unsure of the exact age. It is as found and as is. I am sure the bulbs are not original to the set. Condition: The cloth cord is soft and pliable. It has one small fray that is pictured. It is a circular cord. The sockets have a lot of crazing and cracking as shown in the photos. Pair of matching antique electrified wall sconces. Bulb holders are porcelain. Base of sconces(portion that goes on wall) measure a little over 6-1/2" side to side by a little over 5" top to bottom. Round metal where socket is measures just a tad under 5" in diameter. One of the wall sections has the outer portion pulling loose a bit on one sconce. These would obviously need new wiring as these are very old. There is paint missing all over both sconces. I'm sure they could be repainted. Both of the sconces have three holes with screw like pieces. Both have one of the screw like pieces missing. As you can see some of them still have the plugs(bakelite) on them and every one with a plug is wired up and working just needs to be plugged in. Antique Brass & Cast Iron Art Deco Chandelier 5 Sockets Hanging Cluster Light
Here we have an Art Deco hanging chandelier that holds 5 bulbs. This is an antique lamp that is brass and cast iron. The soceket cups and the shaft of the fixture are brass and the center star and circle are cast iron. The chain on this chandelier is a more recent vintage chain but could be easily replaced with one that would go better with the age of this lamp. As you can see it is in good condition but there is some wear to this lamp the worst of it shown in the last photo. This chandelier is about 15 inches in diameter and has a turn switch in the center that can turn the lights on and off. I would recomend re-wireing this before installation. Lot of 2 vintage porcelain light bulb sockets. About 3 inches long. For standard size light bulbs. Untested for operation but both switches turn and seem to make contacts. Each one has a small chip to the porcelain on the ring above the switch. Not too serious. Some redish rust stains. Some wear and aging, as would be expected on used items of this age. The grey one is 15 inches long. Each has a two pron g non-polarized power cord at tached. The grey one has a handle. The gree n one does not. Both are clean and were kept in a studio cabinet. The gree n light b ar includes a matching green triang ular case(not shown-I forgot to photograph it) The green case is 17 3/4 inches long and has a plastic han dle and two closers. One on each end. These are two vintage porcelain light fixtures I n the condition as found. The fixture with the pull chain P& S number 25.0 W and 250 V. The base is about 3 1/2 inches in diameter. Nice condition with no chips. The other ceiling is about 4 1/2 inches in diameter. Marked Leviton 660 W and 250 W. This fixture has a crack in the glaze. These are not perfect and in the condition as found. Other similar porcelain items are listed and I will be glad to combine auctions to save on postage costs.
