Beautiful Victorian Hinks and Sons Ceramic Oil Banquet Lamp with Original Acid Etched Glass Shade This lovely Victorian oil/kerosene lamp by Hicks and Sons is all original from its base to its duplex burners to its acid etched. Floral design, glass shade. This example of a vintage English banquet lamp has a commanding, and yet quietly elegant, presence. The lamp stands over 23.5" tall by over 6" wide at the base; the piece is quite substantial and heavy probably due to the heavy ceramic, weighted metal base. The naturalistic, calming colors of blue, green, ochre and cream in the ceramic portion(Doulton? complement the quiet elegance of the acid etched floral glass shade. The ceramic base almost has an arabesque design look to it with some elements of aesthetic(nature) movement. As you can see from the photos, some of the ceramic ... moredesign is raised in certain portions of the motif giving it an embossed, three dimensional look. The middle ceramic component is seated on a footed brass base; the oil font sits down in a brass holder seated in the ceramic portion. The lamp is marked by the makers in the following places: on the brass neck near the two wick turners(Hinks and Son's Patent" on the end of the wick turners(Best British Maker F" with what looks like a sun logo in the middle) on the very bottom of the metal base(Hinks and Son's.468" This lamp is in what I consider excellent to very good condition, especially considering its age and utilitarian purpose. The brass footed base has some indications of age such as darkening and pitting; I could find no cracks, no chips and no imperfect areas in the ceramic portion. The only imperfections in this over 100 year old lamp can be attributed to age and use and are the following: several flakes, tiny chips in the glass in the bottom rim of the glass shade; these flakes cannot be seen while the shade is resting in its brass holder. Old Hinks & Sons Lamp Three Porcelain Elephants and Glass Spotted Shade AS IS
This is an amazing lamp. It was purchased as is and the only mark. Hinks& Sons, is on the burner and the number 114 on the bottom of the base. This lamp was probably converted from oil to electric. The modeling of the three porcelain elephants is amazing as well as the base. The lamp is in working order, but as we have shown in the photos, it does have some gilt wear, chips on the base and one tusk is broken off(see photos) all easily repairable by a professional. The lamp measures approximately 23 inches high and 8 1/2 inches wide. This is a heavy item and will need to be shipped in two boxes so shipping will be charged at a flat rate and completely insured. RARE Hinks & Sons Duplex Oil Lamp Linthorpe Drip Glaze Art Pottery Bronze Base
This is a gorgeous antique late 19th century Oil Lamp. A lamp with two different makers. The mounts. Burner, Bronze base are made by the Hinks& Sons lamp company. With the Art Pottery being made by the Linthorpe Art Pottery company. Linthorpe a UK company from 1879-1889. The art pottery is a factory made oil lamp. With a pottery lid with burner mounted and a glass fount mounted to the bottomof the lid. The base or body is a fantastic four handled tall body. Both the lid and base have a stunning heavy mottled drip glaze with various colors within it. The burner is brass with a mark on the lock of the Hinks& Sons company. along with markings on the duplex burner by Hinks& on the weightde cast iron insert on the base. Then a stunning carved Solid bronze ornate base. The lamp is complete. but not working as an oil lamp. It has been ... moremounted through with a rod and a double pull chain socket& older cord& plug. The pottery is signed on the bottom with the linthorpe mark. There is a hole on the bottom. but it is again factory made, smooth and glazed. That is where the rod for the sockets is running through. The oil lamp section only measures approx. 18" tall. And the total with sockets is about 28" It is about 9" in diameter. See condition below. Being sold without reserve& a $9.99 start. Antique Victorian Hinks duplex burner font oil lamp for J. Defries & Sons London
You are bidding on an antique Hinks duplex burner and turquoise porcelain font for J. Defies and Sons London. The duplex burner is in good antique condition and still has it wicks. The porcelain font has 3 surface cracks on the top. They are only superficial cracks and if you run your fingure over them it feels smooth. The font and burner are in working condition. They measure 7.5 inches tall. The font measures about 6 inches wide on the top and the insert measures about 4 inches. The burner measures about 4.5 inches wide. This is a rare exceptional piece. Antique Hinks & Sons Corinthan Column Oil Lamp W/Cut Glass Bowl Electrified
Being offered is this very nice Hinks& Sons Corinthan Column Oil Lamp with a Cut Glass Bowl.This lamp measures approx. 33" overall. 22" to top of burner. It has a nice cut glass bowl. It is signed Hinks& Sons Patent on the collar of the glass bowl. the burner knob is a new No.1 Duplex with a white porcelain handle front with brass stem. the top burner is still intact completely, only the glass globe is missing.The base a very heavy iron covered by brass. The lamp has been electrified by adding a stem and cap onto the oil lamp base, the cord runs down the lamp and comes out of a drilled hole in the base of lamp. The lights turn on with the sockets of the bulb with a turn switch. Can probably be converted back to original lamp, as only the base has been compromised with the drilled hole. or can be used as a parts lamp. It ... moreis in nice condition, glass globe is good, no chips, cracks, etc. base could use cleaning. The knob that turns the wick does not move as the wick mechanism has been removed. A very nice early lamp for use as is, or collection.
