And the internal amber glass shade was obviously blown into it as it is all one piece. Condition: The iron frame is quite rusty at the top. But all the fixing screws turn and are not rusted in place( though a couple of these screws couh use replacement as the heads are eroded) There is no light fitting bracket. Very close inspection shows a 3 cm crack in the glass near the top and a small chip on the bottom edge- not easy to see. Antique deep red. Cranberry/ ruby glass hall lamp with brass fittings. 19th century, circa 1880- 1890's. Measurements: The round ceiling attachment is 5 1/4 inches in diameter. The top glass fitting is 6 inches in diameter. The glass is approximately 8 inches in length. The bottom fitting drops about 3 inches not including the loop and 5 inches including the loop. Glass is a marvellous rich red colour and is folded in intervals of about an inch. The gold-coloured metal fitting are probably brass and look to be entirely original. On the bottom is a support with a ring and two decorated metal'prongs' that extend inside the glass and are attached to two ends of the chains. In this way. The lamp can be raised or lowered for changing oil or candles. The bottom glass fitting is decorated with moulded and openwork decorations. On the ... moretop is metal colllar with ruffled. Openwork, flaring rim. A pair of chains is attached to this. There are a number of screws for tightening it to the glass. Metal straps run down in decorated twists and turns from the collar. They are further supported by a decorated metal band that runs around the circumference of the glass. Decoration on these long bands is in the form of chased scrolls and foliage. The long chains are attached to the ceiling by a round metal fitting. Similarly decorated to the other metal parts. It has a pair of pulleys for pulling on the chains. One pulley has been replaced. Unusual Antique Brass & Opalescent Slag Glass Hanging Hall Fixture Lamp
This is an interesting antique electric hanging hall fixture. It is made of hand worked brass and rippled opalescent slag glass. The brass frame is 6 sided.The brass frame is 11 1/4" across at the corners. Each brass side measures 6" wide x 4 3/4" high and each side has one panel of rippled opalescent slag glass.Underneath there is a dramatic 10 1/4" high inverted cone with 4 beaded brass vertical supports.There is a opening at the bottom of the cone measuring approx. 7/8" in diameter. From the bottom edge of the brass frame hang approx. 48- 2 piece glass prisms. The frame is suspended by 4 chains from a vertical shaft with 4 hooks for fastening. At the bottom of the shaft is the light bulb and at the top the shaft is connected by a length of brass chain to the ceiling canopy.The 4 hook assembly from which the 4 small ... morechains attach is adjustable up and down to accommodate various bulb sizes. As the lamp is hung now it measures approx. 40 1/2" from the ceiling. I do not know the maker of this lamp but I believe it dates to the 1890's- 1900. It is in very good condition. The opaque pink glass shade is decorated with some of the finest enamel work you will find and accented in gold. This looks like European glass(likely French or Bohemian) to me but any suggestions appreciated. The lamp has its original gilt brass frame and the hanging chains with the pulley system. working condition. Actually a hall fixture but was being used as corner pendant in small room. It is about 28 inch long top to bottom and the light is about 7 inch across. the part that is up on the ceiling is actually about 7 inch deep and the chain and pendant make up the difference to 28. the glass is like a chipped ice and is curved as you can see in photos and it is individual panels not just one piece. from an estate we are currently working with. It is not as new condition as it is 100 years old but it is in very respectable shape the glass is all good as well. The Lamp is very much more beautiful than my photos show, the Glass Shade goes from a deep Pink color at the top to a light blush Pink color at the bottom and features a unique Polk a dot pattern that I have not seen before. The Lamp is overall in very good condition, there is some minor rim chips that are covered by the fixture but no large chips, cracks or repairs of any kind. The bottom cap also shows a loss as seen in the photo but overall it displays beautifully. I have not tried it to see if it works but I am sure you would want to rewire it when you hang it in your home anyway. I am now 83 and this hung above on my mom's side of her bed ever since I can remember. It is entirely possible that she was the one who replaced or sewed the satin shade long ago. ~It is an icon of an old-fashioned style no longer easy to find. Although not sure of date. I estimate it to be from 1910 to 1940, and most likely there in the middle somewhere. Looks to be all original materials, most likely even the stitched satin shade. ~Height(not including hanging brackets) is 6 1/4" and width is 12" Depth at centre is 4" at top. Shade slopes outward to a depth at centre of 5 1/2" at bottom. Hanging hook brackets are about 1 1/2" high and extend about ... more2 1/2" They can be adjusted easily to fit most situations. ~Made of a strongly soldered thick copper wire frame which gives the lamp its wonderful triple-curved shape. Frame also includes rear hanging hook brackets built as part of it. As well as bracket that secures the electrical socket for light bulb. Truly an artistic as wall as professional job. ~Original socket with weighted pull-chain still works fine. As well as original wonderful Bakelite plug. Braided silk wire, even though it looks fine, is best to be updated. otherwise it looks good! ~Shade is unusual since it is made of antique satin fabric. Pulled tight and sewn almost like upholstery to cover the frame. The sewing is meticulously, expertly, and carefully done. ~Shade material is a shiny purple or burgundy satin. It flares outward from top to bottom. Which gives shade a distinctly elegant shape. And it is stretched around the three curves in the frame in such a way so as to take up the shape, looking much like"waves" Shade material has a wonderful border of dark pink brocade sewn on the edges. This is a beautiful Cranberry Glass Ruffled lamp Shade or Chimney. It would look gorgeous ona converted gas brass hall light. I don't believe it to be as old as the cranberry smoke bell that I have listed. But I am a lamp admirer, not an expert. I did purchase this some time ago from an antique lamp shade dealer. It is in perfect condition with no cracks, chips, or flakes. There is the usual roughness to the glass at the fitter edge. The diameter of the fitter is 4" I think it was pressed into a two-part mold as it has two seams and the outside of the shade is smooth, while the inside is concave in the places where you see the light reflected in circles. If you look closely, there are a few very tiny glass bubbles. This item will be carefully wrapped and double boxed and should be insured. Powered by The free listing tool. Beautiful Victorian brass oil or kerosene lamp frame that is smaller than the other two I have listed so I'm thinking this might be for a hallway or bedroom. It measures 25 1/2" long from the ceiling plate to the bottom of the font and the center frame measures 10 1/4" across. If you need any other measurements please email me. It's in very good shape with only the expected age wear. It has a nice patina but could use a polishing to look it's best.
