The mediterranean style house was constructed in 1911, and still held hundreds of original items, many of which were oriental. This bird figure was at the edge of a fish pond, and had a water feature that made water stream through the narrow slits in the pottery"reeds" around the herons feet and legs. If you look at the close up photo of the base, you can see where this was anchored to the edge of the fish pond with dabs of concrete. The heron is depicted standing among reeds as if in a swamp or a pond. It is a rare and spectacular piece of Chinese pottery. Great decorator piece inside or out. MEASURES: approx. 25" tall and it is approx. 17" at the widest point.from the back to the beak. CONDITION:GOOD+.it has a firing split on the inside. Which BARELY shows on the outside, and this happened during the manufacturing. It is very typical of this type of ware, and pottery collectors realize this.it is NOT damaged. Mid-Century Pink Pottery Lamps-NR-Spatter Glaze-Luster Ware
Offering this gorgeous pair of mid-century luster ware pink pottery stacked bubble or sphere lamps. Pink Rainbow Luster Iridescent glazes with volcanic(raised white porous) glaze. These lamps are probably from the fifties. The lamps have their original hoops and finials and measure 30" tall. The total height of the four spheres(including the metal bands between them) is approx. 15 1/2" Each sphere measures approx. 3 1/4" tall by approx. 6" in diameter. The spheres have no chips. Cracks, or repairs. There are two to three tiny spots of light wear beneath the metal separating rings. Not seen. Covered, and not detrimental. Any lines which may appear to be scratches in these images are white glaze streaks and from the making. There are two or three tiny bubble pops and several tiny black cinders trapped within the white eosin? ... morevolcanic? glazes. All original. The plug on one lamp has been broken and will need replacing. The other electrical parts on both lamps look good. But one might want to re-wire the lamps since they are old. The lamp with the intact plug works. I see no reason the other will not lamp work with the broken plug replaced. The open criss-cross brass tone? metal bands are in very good condition. There may be a very slight bend here and there. But nothing noticeable. There is an aged patina to the metal. I didn't clean these bands or the metal lamp bases. Except to wipe them off. There is minor loss of the coating or finish to the metal bases on both lamps. Not bad except for the one area on the one lamp base as shown. Free shipping applies to lower 48 states only. KOI Fish Lamp This listing is for an interesting ceramic Koi Fish Lamp. I purchased this at an estate sale a couple years ago. I am not sure if it is working. The cord is original and a little frayed. I would have it replaced if I was purchasing or going to use the item. The color of the clay used is orange/brown. The glaze is shiny. With turquoise, white and brown accents. The light bulb is inserted in the mouth. Please note, there are scattered chips on this piece, so bid accordingly. I think a little, cute clip shade would jazz it up and make it look more finished. It works great and the basket of blueberries is too cute. The pot is 4 1/2" tall and with the bulb, 9" tall. It is 2 1/2" wide. It's a beautiful little night light and would look wonderful in any home. My mantra is fine living on a budget. Only buy quality. Buy what you love and keep it forever. Vintage 1920's Handmade Oriental Glazed Ginger Jar Lamp. The jar is in amazing condition with no chips or cracks present. All the original brass electrical hardware is still intact including the original finial. The wood base is also nice with a small split starting from the hole for the wire. Measures 9" tall(to the base of the light socket) the jar is about 8" diameter. Overall height is 21" to the top of the finial. The light will need to be completely rewired as the original cloth covered wire is in poor condition. There are many companies that make period correct cloth wire for an exact replacement. Vintage Deco Japanese Studio Art Pottery Flambe Drip Glaze Lamp Awaji Mark 1930
This listing is for a rare Awaji-ware lamp. This lamp was potted as a lamp- not a vase. It is fully marked with the Awaji Island flag mark. Kiln mark, export mark, and another mark- possibly the artist. I am dating it between 1921 and 1939, because the"Made in Japan" mark started in 1921, and both the Sanpei and Rikita kilns of Awaji closed in 1939. The lamp measures 18" tall overall. The exposed pottery portion measures 7 1/4" tall. And 8 1/2" greatest diameter. The pottery has intentional course ridges left from throwing along with undulating, incised decoration and amazing, frothy purple, red, green, and white drip glaze. The combined glaze and texture is quite robust, and reminiscent of ocean waves- possibly the island potter's inspiration. The lamp is complete with its(original? 13.75" cased green glass ... moreshade and and fittings. I think the shade is an Emeralite. It is definately period correct. And probably original to the lamp. I'm fairly certain that these cone-shades were originally produced to be hung from ceiling fixtures, but companies that produced lamps(especially one-of-a-kind studio pottery lamps) used whatever parts were appropriate and available. I love the studio-made, wire shade fitter(the original black paint can be seen on the underside) It looks like the lamp had a re-wire and extra coat of gold-tone paint in the 50's or 60's. It works well. Both the pottery and shade are excellent with no damage(If you're unfamiliar with antique shades. The top and bottom are"rough-cut" at the factory, and a uniformly rough edge with minimal chipping is the factory as-made norm) Overall a very rare. Complete lamp in excellent, original, working condition to accent your Art Deco or Mid Century Modern decor- or fill a spot in your Japanese pottery collection! Email with any questions. This is a beautiful. High-quality pair of vintage French Art Deco round ball shaped green glaze art pottery table lamps. They date circa 1920s or 1930s. The design on these is great. From top to bottom. They each measure 16 1/4 inches tall(41.3 cm) The pottery part of each measure 7 inches tall by 6 inches wide(17.8 x 15.2 cm) The deep green glaze color is just beautiful. They look to have been made to be lamps from the start. Initially. I thought the brown ring around the neck and the brown ring around the bottom were wood, but they are also pottery. Very classy. There is a nice rich patina on the brass base. One doesn't have its green felt on the bottom. So I saw the mark MADE IN FRANCE. There's a very.
