Beautiful Victorian Hinks and Sons Ceramic Oil Banquet Lamp with Original Acid Etched Glass Shade This lovely Victorian oil/kerosene lamp by Hicks and Sons is all original from its base to its duplex burners to its acid etched. Floral design, glass shade. This example of a vintage English banquet lamp has a commanding, and yet quietly elegant, presence. The lamp stands over 23.5" tall by over 6" wide at the base; the piece is quite substantial and heavy probably due to the heavy ceramic, weighted metal base. The naturalistic, calming colors of blue, green, ochre and cream in the ceramic portion(Doulton? complement the quiet elegance of the acid etched floral glass shade. The ceramic base almost has an arabesque design look to it with some elements of aesthetic(nature) movement. As you can see from the photos, some of the ceramic ... moredesign is raised in certain portions of the motif giving it an embossed, three dimensional look. The middle ceramic component is seated on a footed brass base; the oil font sits down in a brass holder seated in the ceramic portion. The lamp is marked by the makers in the following places: on the brass neck near the two wick turners(Hinks and Son's Patent" on the end of the wick turners(Best British Maker F" with what looks like a sun logo in the middle) on the very bottom of the metal base(Hinks and Son's.468" This lamp is in what I consider excellent to very good condition, especially considering its age and utilitarian purpose. The brass footed base has some indications of age such as darkening and pitting; I could find no cracks, no chips and no imperfect areas in the ceramic portion. The only imperfections in this over 100 year old lamp can be attributed to age and use and are the following: several flakes, tiny chips in the glass in the bottom rim of the glass shade; these flakes cannot be seen while the shade is resting in its brass holder. Presented for your consideration is this incredible Bohemian art glass banquet lamp. I believe it was made in the Ludwig Moser factory at the end of the nineteenth century but Harrach is also a possibility-any info appreciated. I also found a similar example identified as English in"Victorian Decorative Glass" by Gulliver(page 135) The lamp is cranberry glass with elaborate applied decoration. Featured are two large alligators or salamanders accented with lines of rigaree. The top is especially nice with a border of drip"icicles" The separate font is also cranberry glass. It has a Plume& Atwood burner which is obviously not proper. The lamp measures 14" high, 5 1/4" across at the top of the font and 6 1/2" across at the foot. The lamp is in overall very good condition but does have a significant crack ... morein the foot. Seems very stable but see enlarged photo to evaluate. The body of the lamp, font and applied decoration all appear to be excellent. This over the top Moser oil lamp should be a very special addition to a collection and is offered without reserve. One ball crystal is missing but the long crystal is there, and also 2 have chips on the bottom of the long part. The lamp has three arms each with 6 leaf scrolled leaves. While unmarked. This lovely antique banquet/parlor/gwtw lamp was most likely made by Fostoria in the late 1890's. It measures 25 1/2" to the top of the ball shade, with the ball shade alone measuring 8 1/2" tall(measured through the center) The ball shade is the factory original shade decorated with small purple violets which matches the decoration on the font and stem. The violets are decals, with hand over-painting, typical of Fostoria decoration. Around the top of the shade, font, and stem, is a band of bright yellow. The shade retains its original brass heat ring and the fitter edge is without damage. All glass components are in excellent condition with no damage.the font was never drilled, and holds water without leakage. Beautiful Victorian Gone With The Wind converted oil lamp that is being offered for sale for the first time from a private collection. The lamp has been hand painted with pansies front and back. The colors are pinks. Purples pansies. Green leaves and with some yellow, a touch of blue in the back of the lamp. The lamp stands 27 inches in height and top globe is 11 and 1/2 inches in diameter. The top globe has a minor lake where it sits in fitter end that I am adding a picture of. The side of the lamp has oil spatter markings that are also pictured. The wick turning knobs on one are marked Paris in a banner with two flaming torches and a sun. The turning knob on the other has an 8-point star. The bases are turned brass with cabochon carved alabaster hand grips at center. The bases can be used alone as traditional candle stick holders. For sale is a Beautiful Antique Gone With The Wind Lamp. The lamp is about 23 inches tall from the top of the globe to the base. The lamp has been converted to electricity. Both globe and lamp base light. And have new bulbs. There is chipping around the top and bottom rim of the lamp base, but is hidden by the brass end rings and not visible when the lamp is assembled. There are no other chips, cracks, or repairs to this lamp. It is quite beautiful as you can see in the attached photographs. Antique Victorian Banquet Oil Lamp w/ Acid Etched Cranberry Glass Ruffled Shade
This is a stunning antique Victorian column banquet oil lamp with the following features: It measures a total of 25" tall. Shade is a ruffled"tulip" style with cranberry edges and an acid etched floral design; acid etched cranberry font with grape clusters and leaves and coin dot accents around the bottom; brass column(with original, lovely patina) frosted inner hurricane shade; and marble base, brass switch is marked B&P. It is an oil lamp converted to electric and works perfectly. It can very easily be converted back to oil by simply unscrewing the top(there have been NO holes drilled, etc. thank goodness! The only flaws noted are some discoloration on the inner hurricane shade, some very small nicks on the marble base, and one extremely tiny flea bite nick on the edge of the upper shade. I only detected this by running ... moremy finger over it. I have another lamp that is identical to this that I'm listing if you are interested in a pair. If you do purchase both lamps please be aware that I will not be able to combine shipping due to the lamps being so delicate, heavy, and fragile. My pictures do not do this lamp justice- it is just gorgeous! I will be listing lots and lots of lamps and lamp shades on a regular basis. Antique RESONATING Hand Painted 10" Glass LAMP SHADE GWTW Student Table Banquet
Antique Thick Resonating Butterscotch Toned Glass Lamp Shade Hand painted village scene. Front and back. Base rim diameter 9 15/16" Height 6" Top inner hole for chimney 3" No cracks or chips. Bottom rim a bit rough. Doesn't show when seated. Two very small areas on bottom rim have paint loss. These won't show when seated. I believe this is an older shade. But this is purely my opinion. Sold"as is" due to the paint flake loss. As mentioned. Rich. Butterscotch tone. It looks European, purely my opinion. Quality. Thick glass, with a pleasing resonance.
