Pair of Antique Free Blown Flint Glass Whale Oil Fluid Lamps 19th Century Offered for sale is this hard to find pair of early fluid lamps that date from the first half of the 19th century. The are free blown American made with thick stems. Rough pontils and tons of natural base rim wear from use. They are similar but not exactly the same size since they were made by hand individually. Condition on both is perfect with no damage other than a couple of tiny little surface nicks on the extreme edge of the fonts. There's also a little minor exterior surface wear as you would expect from glass of this age. Measure about 6&1/8" tall, 3&5/8" across the base. Insurance is now included in the cost of Shipping. Early Boston& Sandwich Flint Glass EAPG Circle and Ellipse Whale Oil Lamp 1850. Fine rare. Early pressed flint whale oil lamp in the"Circle and Ellipse" pattern. The lamp was made in two sections, which are are joined with a wafer. The lamp has a pressed font with its original brass threaded collar. It has a square pediment base. See Barlow and Kaiser, A Guide to Sandwich Glass: Whale Oil Lamps and Accessories. 1989, Plates 2113 for a similar lamp, the same shape but in canary glass. The lamp dates to 1840- 1860. The lamp is 11 inches tall. The base is 3 1/2 inches wide. It weighs 2 lbs 12 oz(shipping weight 4 lb) Condition: Very good. No chips. Pink whale oil lamp -flint glass
These lovely lamps were early 20th century reproductions of the original 1840's lamps and were made just as well in quality but with more colors. This delicate shade of pink is one of the nicest. The glass is lead crystal and the heavy quality of the thing is apparent when you pick it up. This may be fitted with kerosene or oil burners which screw into the existing collar. These are available on Ebay as well as online. The condition of the glass is excellent with little or no wear even on the base. These were made in the early 20th century I believe as reproductions of the original 1840"s lamps which were usually clear. This is in near perfect condition except for some minor tarnishing on the top edge of the collar. Even the base is near perfect. Very nice old EAPG 1800's oil lamp. The pattern is heart top panel. Looks to be the original collar. I do not have the burner. Comes with the electric conversion adapter. Nothing drilled, easy to convert back by simply unscrewing the conversion and screwing in a burner. The brass stem has a dent near the base and a very shallow dent on the face. Marble has yellowed with age, lamp still displays nicely. About 10" tall to the top of the collar not including the adapter.Base 4" X 4" Font about a 4 1/4" diameter. Thank you for viewing.
