UNUSUAL AND BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE VICTORIAN DUPLEX OIL LAMP c1890 WITH GORGEOUS GRADUATED TURQUOISE‘MILK GLASS’ FONT. I’m selling a collectable and beautifully-coloured English oil lamp from around 1890-and in full working order. It makes a wonderful centrepiece and. Like all oil lamps, it gives a beautiful soft light that adds atmosphere to any room. This is a really striking and attractive lamp in fantastic condition with a very unusual coloured font that graduates from deep turquoise to milky white. The font has no chips or cracks and is decoratively moulded in a basketwork design. The elegant upright stand is spelter. I think, with the look of bronze, and the base is shiny black ceramic. There’s no maker’s mark on the base. But the screw fitting burner with twin thumbwheels is marked‘Duplex’ English Made’ The glass chimney. Also undamaged, ... moreis marked‘Griffin brand Fireproof, foreign’ Dimensions: 58cm high.17.5 diameter of base Condition: Absolutely original and undamaged. Lightly cleaned but with all its antique patina. There is a shallow chip on the ceramic base at the very bottom edge where it stands on the table. It is all but invisible unless you look for it. It has been in the same family for three generations and has been well looked after. This is a really strikingly attractive item. HEAVY SILVER PLATED DROP IN FOUNT FOR ENGLISH DUPLEX OIL LAMP, PARAFFIN OR KERO
Up for auction is this attractive heavy silver plated metal drop-in fount for a Duplex burnered oil lamp. The fount is made of heavy metal. Probably'white metal' also referred to as'hard plate' and is plated with silver. It has no dents, some wear and rubs to silver, and a definite ring of wear to the underside. Apart from that ring the silver plating is intact and nicely polished, though there is still some grime in the nooks and crannies arond the pattern. Approx 16 cms max diameter. And would fit a ring or pot about 150mm diameter, the shoulder is curved. 100mm overall height, and the collar has a thread for a typical screw in duplex burner, 39mm or 1&1/2 inches diameter. CAST IRON & BRASS TALL COLUMN BASE FOR ENGLISH DUPLEX PARAFFIN KEROSENE OIL LAMP
Up for auction is this impressive oil lamp column base. With matching cast iron top and base and reeded brass column between. Standing 11 inches tall and with a base just over 6&1/2 inches square. The iron is nicely patterned with openwork base. Brown bronze finish to iron, green underneath. The large base allows for stability even with a large fount on top. The top screw socket is for a'No. 10' size english fount screw( the thread of which will measure approx 23mm OD) No damage to the threads. The base is held together by a long steel screw inside the column. This has been replaced because the original was worn/ rusted at base thread and didn't do its job any more. 1800's Duplex English Table Oil Lamp, Snuffer/Terricotta Base, Etched Shade, 888
This 1800's old English Duplex table oil lamp is a beautiful example of the period. The duplex burner is fully functional with snuffer and of age wicks. I left the wicks with the burner because they are functional. Look of age and do not appear to be used. 2 new wicks will also be supplied. The lamp has a terracotta black base and a hand etched 1800's glass globe. This globe has a typical hand ground base which cause a small crack. The crack is not visible and is from the original manufacturing process. This is also unique because of the hand etched design of the globe. Measurements: 7" dia. base, 26 1/2" tall, 7" dia. shade, 18" to top of burner. When shipped the glass shade will be double boxed.

SPARE STONEWARE CERAMIC FOUNT FOR ENGLISH DUPLEX OIL LAMP TAYLOR TUNNICLIFFE ?
Up for auction is this heavy'pot' English ceramic oil lamp drop in fount to suit a Duplex size oil lamp. Just over 5 inches tall and 5&1/2 inches max diameter. The diameter under the shoulder where it drops in is 4 inches. The'drop in' section under the shoulder is 3 inches depth. Top collar is 55mm OD. And has a finely tooled series of grooves to give a grip for a brass burner collar to be plastered on. Ideal size for either a Bayonet or Screw Duplex size collar. The ceramic is a higher than usual well fired'stoneware' pale cream in colour. Heavy. Has the advantage of being stronger and less brittle than'china' and also doesnt soak up kerosene and go dark under the glaze. TWO SPARE ORIGINAL BRASS SILK SHADE SUPPORTS FOR ENGLISH DUPLEX OIL LAMP BURNERS
Up for auction are these two brass tripod supports allowing the user to fit a silk. Paper or fabric shade onto a duplex oil lamp burner with a 4 inch diameter globe gallery. They will also fit other burners with a 4 inch globe carrier, such as 20 line Veritas etc. These were sold by all the major manufacturers as an option for all oil lamps with a 4 inch globe gallery. Last picture is a page from the 1896 Veritas catalogue and shows both the support and a selection of the shades that sit on them. The bottom rim of the shade support goes inside the 4 inch rim on the burner. And over it, the two clips are then closed fixing the support in place. The top'hatbrim' fitting has a raised centre about 98mm diameter, just under 4 inches. This serves as a locator for shades with a suitable ring inside. Large fabric shades fitted to electric ... morestandard lamps still use the same fitting. allows the shade to move harmlessly if knocked. Ideal if you want to put a fabric shade( that you can still buy in the high street) on an electric converted oil lamp. If used on a lamp still in oil then you have to ensure that the shade you use is fireproof!
