ANTIQUE SPELTER SCULPTURE GREYHOUND WHIPPET DOG OIL LAMP EAGLE GLASS SHADE 32"
We are pleased to offer this very special lamp. Dating to the 1880s. This beautiful lamp is truly an art piece. It features a large or ornate cast iron base with either pewter or silver plate hardware just above. Seated in the mid section of the lamp is a wonderful spelter Greyhound or Whippet dog sculpture. This beautiful piece is nicely detailed and the collared dog is gorgeous. He is seated upon a pewter or silver plate piece which is incised and resembles a cobblestone or bricked surface. A lall and slender brass column is positioned behind the dog and attached the lamp base to the brass oil reservoir. The brass reservoir is large. It has a few minor dings but is in good condition. There is a area on the upper section which is opened and does not have a cover(see picture 9) I am not sure what this is. The original font has been replaced, ... moreprobably when the lamp was converted. However, it would be very easy to return the lamp to oil burning if you so desired. The lamp has a beautiful, golden yellow shade with Eagle and Star pattern. It is very nice with some minor wear. This lamp is quite rare and exceptional. It is in overall wonderful condition but it does have some minor signs of age and use. It is a gorgeous piece of 19th century art! The lamp is quite large. It measures 24" to the top of the burner. The dog sculpture is 7" tall. The lamp is 32" tall with the shade attached. The shade is 8" tall with a 10" fitter measurement. The lamp base is 9" in diameter. A CHARMING LIKEABLE VERY RARE AND VALUABLE OLD VICTORIAN PUG DOG OIL LAMP BASE. THERE ARE A COUPLE OF MANUFACTURERS FAULTS. IN THE SHOULDER OF THE LEFT LEG. THERE APPEARS TO BE A CRACK. THIS IS A MARK AND NOT A CRACK. IN THE PLINTH THERE IS A MARK WHICH GOES FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE PLINTH THROUGH TO THE TOP OF THE PLINTH. THERE AGAIN THIS APPEARS TO BE A CRACK BUT IS A MANUFACTURERS FAULT. THESE FAULTS ARE EASILY RESTORABLE. THE BASE IS TOTALLY ORIGINAL AND HAS NOT BEEN RESTORED. THERE IS A VERY SMALL NIBBLE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE BODY OF THE DOG. THE BASE HAS AN RD MARK OF 38572 T5L. THE DOG HAS LOVELY ORIGINAL BROWN GLASS EYES. VINTAGE SCOTTIE DOG LAMP - FROM THE 30'S or 40's?
Up for auction is a cute vintage Scotty dog lamp that I believe is from the 30s or 40s time period. The lamp is approximately 10" tall and the base is 4" wide. The shade is the same glass material as the base and there are four pictures of the dog(one on each side of the shade) The only blemishes I could find is the paint on the Scotty dog is faded and wearing away in spots and where the light bulb holder is connected on the underside of the shade is chipped. Other than what is noted I could not find any cracks or chips and the lamp appears to be in nice shape for its age. The lamp does work but I would recommend changing the electrical cord as it is kind of crusty and old. The light bulb is not included and it is a two piece set. RARE ANTIQUE ART DECO FRENCH CHINOISERIE RED GOLD TORCH FOO DOG DRAGON LAMP 43"
TRULY. ONE OF THE MOST INCREDIBLE LAMPS WE HAVE EVER COME ACROSS! This is a very special, OLD(1920s at least) cast iron with brass or spelter, large table or floor lamp. The lamp has an overall French design and the color palette is a beautiful pattern of red and gold. The raised base is circular with three small cabriole legs. Atop the base is large and tall, French styled, candlestick or torch with flame. This feature towers above two Foo Dogs/Dragons and the light housing is at the top. A large, old, crackled amber glass shade rests on top of the torch. The large bobeche is beautifully crafted and features a series of Fleur de Lis which are fashioned with acanthus leaves. The dragons are seated on the base as well. They face opposite directions so as to guard from all angles. One of the dragons is a beautiful Jade green. He is seated upon ... morea raised column or pedestal which has the same bobeche design as the lighted torch. The second dragon is a unique black to midnight blue combination color. He sits directly on top of the base. Both of the Foo Dogs/Dragons have yellow painted eyes and INCREDIBLY ORNATE detailing which is gold gilded. They wear large breast plates and headdresses of gold and their rear legs are accented with acanthus scrolls and floral medallions. Their teeth are bared and their expression is fierce. The jade dragon has a plume tail feature while the black dragon has a more nondescript tail. There are chains attached to both the torch and the pedestal of the jade dragon. These attach to the base. The dragons are bolted to the base as is the torch. There are so many intricate features to this lamp! All of the pieces are thick cast(VERY HEAVY) The base is a thinner metal. The dragons/foo dogs are a heavy, cast material but do not accept a magnet. The bobeches are thick brass(painted) and do not accept magnet either. With that said the lamp does have damage to the shade(there is a top shade and a base to this lamp-see pics) The shade has been glued where there was a crack which runs along the top and to both sides of the shade-please see pics-I believe that the repair was done rather well and has sealed the crack tightly with no'give' or loose seam-the glue that has been used is clear and can be seen on the crack/seam line(see pics) there are a few very small chips in one area along this seam/crack line, I have provided 3 or 4 pics of the top of the glass shade including one close-up of the repair and pics of sides-please view these pics as lamp is being sold'as is' and'as seen' in pics due to rarity and described issues. Up for bidding is a rare Birdseye Neon Figural Bulb. This one is a poodle. The filament is a poodle dog character begging for a table scrap. The bulb is in good shape. It is very clean and it works fine. It is offered with the original base. The black celluloid base is a little warped and it has a crack or two, but it still stands up OK. The base is still firmly held together. The silver tin detail on the base also looks good and its very clean. The original cord is missing. Made by the Birdseye Electric Company of Gloucester, MA, USA in the early 1930's. The bulb itself is a T-10 size with a medium Edison Base. Art Deco retriever setter dog smoking table desk lamp crackle glass antique
This is a stunning and unique early 1900s smoking table or desk lamp with Art Deco elements and other styling influences from that time period. It is made of metal(like pot or spelter metal) The dog looks like a retriever or setter and is made of cast metal. The base is metal, the dome that sits on top of the crackle glass shade is metal as is the decoration around the element itself. The shade is amber crackle glass that has no chips or cracks in the main body, but both the top and bottom edges have some roughness if you rub your fingers around those edges(but overall the shade is in very good condition for its age) There is a small crack in the metal dome that sits on the crackle glass shade that I've shown in the pictures but the piece is structurally sound. The decorative top on the dome is a faceted piece of apricot colored glass ... morethat matches the ashtray insert that fits into the lamp. The ashtray has no chips or cracks but if you run your finger around the inside edge there are a couple of minor rough spots that can be felt(although I can't see them, but I am pointing this out for your consideration) The lamp base is 13" long and 6 1/2" wide. It is 8" tall in total to the top of the dog's head. The dog statue itself is 10" long and 6 3/4" tall. There is wear and flaking to the gold/bronze paint finish on the dog and to the gold/black paint on the base of the lamp. The dog is securely affixed to the base but does move slightly if handled. The lamp works perfectly and has a modern cord(the switch works perfectly and I can't tell if it is the original or a replacement) It looks wonderful lit and is direct from an estate auction. 1940 RARE Frosted Glass Scotty Dog Night Light Lamp w/Bullet Shade; Perfect
This is an absolutely wonderful. Quite rare, lamp which dates back to 1940. It was born out of the Scotty Dog(Scottish Terrier) craze that was all the rage beginning in 1940. This is exactly when President Franklin Roosevelt brought his Scottish Terrier to the White House. The dog, named Fala, is the the most famous of all presidential pets. Fala captured the attention of the media as well as all of the public at large. He was so instrumental in the Roosevelt presidency that a statue of Fala is featured at the FDR memorial in Washington D.C. To date, Fala is the only pet ever to be so honored. Frosted glass objects became very popular in the 1920's and remained so through the 1940's. It was during the 1920's and 30's that frosted glass lamps began to make their mark, mainly during the Art Deco period. The condition of this ... morelamp is nothing short of fabulous. It is 100% intact, in working order, with all the original glass parts. Please take notice that the night light was rewired for optimum quality, performance, and safety. All of the frosted glass looks great with no cracks or chips; and all the painted Scotty dog designs on the bullet shade are perfect, with no paint loss. There is some very minor wear to the black paint on the metal dog sitting beside the bullet; but this is not at all serious and does nothing to mar the look of the lamp. Overall, I can assure you that it looks great, despite the age of the piece. The base measures 5 and a 1/2 in by 4 in by 2 and 5/8 in tall. It stands a total of 10 in tall, the bullet is 8 and a 1/2 in by itself, and the metal dog beside the bullet shade is 3 and a 1/2 in high. In total, the lamp weighs in at 1 and a 1/2 pounds. I have to stress that this is a very special older piece, which seems to be quite rare. I haven't been able to locate another like it anywhere. There are some inferior Scotty Dog lamps, but there is nothing out there that I find which is equal in caliber and/or design. The perfect condition of this piece, makes it all the more desi

Here is a really fun small Art Deco style translucent white glass electric lamp from the 1930's. Topped with a square glass shade decorated with black and red Scottie Dog decals in two different designs. Sadly. The decals are not in the best of shape, but waterslide decals are available on eBay and at craft stores, and you can put new Scottie decals on this or pick a brand new design of your own choice! Lamp measures about 9" tall with the shade in place(not including the finial) and is 4" square at the bottom of the stepped pyramid base. Tapering to 2" square at the top of the pyramid. The clip on lamp shade is 3" square by about 3" tall. Lamp has been rewired and works just fine. In excellent vintage condition except for the worn decals. No chips/cracks/repairs. Fabulous 1940s Chalkware Shepherd Dog 14 inch Tall Table Night Light Lamp Amber
This is a wonderfully proud looking Rin-Tin-Tin type Shepherd Dog Lamp. It is made of bronze painted solid chalkware measuring 14 inches tall. 10 1/2 inches wide, and weighing about 7 pounds. The bronze paint is in good vintage condition with some small paint rubs as is usually seen with chalkware of this age. The lamp is in good working order. The amber glass shade is in great condition with no chips or cracks. The shade does tip a bit and should probably be stabilized with a rubber washer.
